- Cheddar Biscuits Recipe
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
½ cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
¾ cup buttermilk (or regular milk with 1 tablespoon vinegar)
2 tablespoons fresh chives or parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder until well combined.
3. Cut in Butter:
Add the cold cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Use a pastry cutter or your fingertips to work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs with some pea-sized pieces of butter remaining.
4. Add Cheese:
Gently fold in the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.
5. Incorporate Buttermilk:
Make a well in the center of the mixture and pour in the buttermilk. Stir gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; the dough should be slightly sticky.
6. Shape the Biscuits:
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Pat it into a ¾-inch thick rectangle. Use a floured biscuit cutter or a glass to cut out biscuits. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
7. Bake:
Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the tops are golden brown. Keep an eye on them, as oven times can vary!
8. Serve:
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. For an extra touch, brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with fresh chives or parsley. Serve warm and enjoy the cheesy goodness!
Tips:
Storage: Store leftover biscuits in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven for a few minutes to restore their freshness.
Variations: Add cooked bacon bits or herbs for extra flavor. Adjust the cheese type for a different taste!
