You are an amazing communicator - these videos are so much better than reading the tutorials - please can you present every video for Figma and maybe for everything else that is tough to learn in the world.
Humorous, knowledgeable, efficient, and straight to the point. This is absolutely an amazing series of tutorials! You're a lifesaver. Thank you for making it easy to understand these concepts and hit the ground running with Figma rapidly!
This is what you get from this video: What component properties are and what you can do with them, why they are better than just variants and how to remove unwanted variants They don't actually show how to create boolean, text or instance swap properties from the beginning. For example, how to create a library of Icons to be able to use them in Instance swap property. Also on the right panel I see type, state, show icon, icon... how come you have those? How did you make them? That's what I'm looking for.
I noticed that you deleted the other variant components. But what if those variant components are being used in several design mockups? What would happen to those components?
This feature saved my file! which was about to explode due the amount of variants on complex component, so this has reduced A LOT of that. Would be soooo amazing to set which properties need to be exposed to users, because... in my case with huge components... I'd would have double properties sometimes, the general and the nested ones, so it feels kind of confusing.. but anyways is a good start!
Thanks for the video! this is very very useful! 😍 I have a question: When I created my long set of buttons in the past and I used instances of those buttons/components everywhere, in a lot of different files, after reducing the number of components with the properties in my design system, which is the best way to replace all those old buttons that now are no longer in use or those that now have more/different properties (like for example, text)?, how can I preserve the overrides in the case of the text property? Do I have to replace/adjust every button manually? Thanks! 😊
Hi! thank you for the VERY helpful tutorial. Q: how do I remove preferred icons after adding them? How can I edit the preferred list? Thanks!Amazing tutorials, keep them coming :)
I wonder there are different paddings based on icons and text. When turning the icon on and off for a button including text and icon, how can the padding change too? For example, (text+icon) padding will be (24 | 16), (text only) padding will be (24 | 24)? Thank you guys
not related but please can i a tutorial explaining drag prototype interaction especially for onboarding screens. if there is please share me the link...thank you
Thanks for the vid! I have another question: What should you do in figma if you want a component to always appear in its original state when you return to a screen, even after making changes to that component?
You know what would be useful? Updating old tutorials. You could also old tutorials to explain updates to existing features and the creation of new features. You guys basically have scores of old blog posts/tutorials that explain concepts (Components/Variants/etc) BUT these old resources have no linking whatsoever to existing workflows. It's like you don't actually use your own products or conduct research across all user bases.
Can we please have this individual do all the Figma tutorials? Best ever. Clearest by far.
She needs her own playlist. I've been trying to learn Figma all break and her videos have been my favorites, very helpful and entertaining.
Agreed.
Agreed!
true

Agreed. She is so clear, and funny, and easy to understand. She should do ALLLL the tutorial videos for Figma!

this woman is so precise and efficient in explaining everything
Literally one of the only ACTUALLY helpful videos I've seen on components and properties.
Humorous, knowledgeable, efficient, and straight to the point. This is absolutely an amazing series of tutorials! You're a lifesaver. Thank you for making it easy to understand these concepts and hit the ground running with Figma rapidly!
Please let this wonderful person do more tutorials!
You are such a great teacher - straight to the point! Thank you so much and please, please, please continue to teach us on new updates from Figma!!

Great tutorial, thank you! Could you share a video with left and right icon, together with white and dark icons.
You're a great teacher. Thank you.
So what's up with .base components now? can this be added to the workflow or should base components be abandoned?
I noticed that you deleted the other variant components. But what if those variant components are being used in several design mockups? What would happen to those components?
@figma also wondering the same. If you do this to an existing component system won't you break a lot of references?

Awesome video, this was really helpful

I also have a problem making the icons into a property as they are missing. Not sure where it goes

your good!!
This with the new variable modes are a game changer! Less variants to be concerned with...

Can u please teach the whole figma in your own style?
Greatful, thankful in advance
Thanks for the vid! I have another question: What should you do in figma if you want a component to always appear in its original state when you return to a screen, even after making changes to that component?
What's the name of this tutor. She explains everything very good and clear. Where can I follow her?
love it, thanks!
Life changing!
Please provide Figma file of it. It will be of great help. Thanks!!
Is there a way to add component properties to base components?
Curious about this too!
there's a good post in the figma forum talking about this. google "component properties and their implications on base component workflow"
These 6 minutes videos is better than 3 hours long boring videos
What's the name of the instructor?
