Fun fact if you turn the pillow cases inside out, stick your hands all the way inside and grip the edges of the pillows you can flip the case on the pillow making it easier to put them in. (I hope that made sense lol)

Yes, I always put a cover on my mattress then sheets on top. Accidents happen and wouldn't want to ruin my good mattress.
