Our family was from the NYC suburbs, but we lived in a Chicago suburb (Downers Grove) for three years. I’d say Chicago was generally colder in the winter and maybe hotter in the summer, but there wasn’t a huge difference.
Don't forget that your new car will be a rotted out rust bucket within five years, thanks to the cursed salt trucks. My schools never officially closed from snow. They just had excused absences. I expect only a one-way trip to Chicago----in a coffin to my pre-paid grave.
