[shih tzu] Furry babies learning ring the call bell

I started teaching the duo how to ring a call bell. This is the 4th time we are practicing. MoMo seems getting the idea faster than ZaiZai this time. ZaiZai didn't like high pitch noise normally...not sure if this is the reason.

My 2 Shih Tzu are the same! The girl is always ready to do whatever I ask her to do for a treat. The boy is "whatever! She did it, you're satisfied, so now I get a treat, too!" My girl is black & white, the boy is gold & white with dark whiskers.

It's really interesting to see the difference in their personalities...ZaiZai is more laid back and calm while Momo has realized that the more she rings the bell the more treats she gets 😂...they are both so cute ❤...

Momo’s Brain: If I hit the bell I get treats, but ZaiZai take too long, so if I hit the bell for ZaiZai *add one, multiply it by 2, and carry it by 6.* I get free treats...

I have 3 of these sweet babies! They are such a pleasure and do loving. Yes it will break my heart when I lose them when the time comes. But they bring such Joy to my life I can't imagine not having them.

"It's better to have loved & lost than never to have loved at all." I don't know where this quote comes from, but it's so appropriate. Shih Tzu have a lifespan that that can reach to almost 20 yrs old if they stay healthy. Don't deprive yourself of the fun & love they provide. Although, I do tell people that they are high maintenance doggies. Do your research before getting one. I've seen too many that are not bathed enough, or brushed or their faces trimmed, & their teeth cared for, etc. You have to be committed to caring for them for their whole lives. I tell people if they're ready to have a baby that never grows up & leves home & needs daily brushing, hair cuts every 3 months, daily eye & teeth care & paw cleaning, then, yeah, get one & love it to the moon & back!!! ❤🐶❤ I have 2. They are my 2nd pair.

Don't feed into the impatientness of the one dog. Train it to be patient as well as the other one is. Make her wait.

I tried teaching my maltipoo when I got her 6 months ago but she was truly terrified of that bell:( She is trained now and lets me know by lightly scratching my legs with her paws :) She is adorable:D

ZaiZai didn’t really like MoMo at all when we first introduced her to him. He will try to avoid her when possible. It took almost a year before ZaiZai kind of accepting the fact “this guest is not going anywhere”. I noticed ZaiZai did show some energy boost...they will compete to get our attention, food, treats and love. But MoMo is totally the alpha, she will just go take whatever ZaiZai is playing. ZaiZai will just walk away and look at me lol. There are always benefits and problems when you have more than one. I think it really depends on the personality of the dogs. I hope this info helps. :)
