- www.playbill.co... It is common knowledge that Tony winner Laura Benanti is one of the most respected actresses on Broadway and television. But with a reputation like that, there comes a profound responsibility - she must pass along the amazing amount of knowledge about her craft that she has accumulated over the years. Here, Benanti does just that as she gathers together a group of youngsters from the Broadway Artists Alliance for a master class. Engaging the young thespians with innovative and somewhat unorthodox techniques, Benanti delivers lessons that will not soon be forgotten.
Laura Benanti needs to be in a sitcom with this persona NOW!
No! A THEATER TALK SHOW. NO HOLLYWOOD ACTORS! SHE COULD BE THE NEW DICK CAVET OR MERV!
I've actually had that reaction when people didn't know who Sondheim was.
That actually just happened to me today. I mean what the actual heck?
Laura is the Queen of R-Rated comedy. I also used to take Master Classes at Broadway Artists Alliance!!
"It's Idina" "Give her to dimples". DEAD.
Laura's a riot in this!
Laura is a treasure!
Jesus. This is so true for people my age who think they're into theater but don't know Steve Sondheim.
Idk if you are kidding, but it's STEPHEN SONDHEIM
That's very true.
I love sondheim so much. and r&h. i cant stand the kids at my school who claim they are huge music theater fans but they are only about rent and whatever pop rock musical that is currently running on broadway. a musical shouldnt have to be cool to get ur attention. that isnt art that is wanting to be cool.... laura knows being the theater kid has nothing to do with being cool haha ❤️ but i hate how all the kids at my school who get the big musical roles are very cool so they act like they dont care and they are very low energy.... it’s such a shame. (there is one girl who gets the main role every year but she is actually very theatrical.... the other big parts however go to ppl who are too cool to really exaggerate, which is the number one rule of theater 🙄🙄🙄🙄)
Also people who can't spell Stephen Sondheim
this is pure gold.
"I'm literally in cow pants. What kind of a crazy marketing idea is that?" LMAO
I bet all of them are like "General Astra was our teacher" now lol
I knew she was funny, but this is hilarious!!
THIS IS HYSTERICAL!
This was the funniest thing ever! i Love Laura Benanti!!
One boy in the class! That was ME!
OH MY GOSH I LOVE HER SHES HILARIOUS!!!
These kids have good voices
Jkkjk kh
Laura would be a great teacher
i would ace that board game just sayin
We should make a bigger version of this with 3+ players.
same
I love BAA this is so good
I feel this is how broadway actors are actually thinking when they teach a masterclass 😂😂😭
Whoever doesn't know who Stephen Sondheim is I will literally kill! He's my lyrical inspiration! Whilst Jonathan Larson is my musical inspiration
"Literally"?! You might want to rethink that. Remember Maestro Sondheim's respect for words, and what they mean. And I'm pretty sure he doesn't have any great affection for homicidal folk, no matter how inclined they might be toward musical theater. Yeah, he'll write shows about 'em, but don't expect any invitations to tea or cocktails.
Omg I'm in BAA it's sooo fun I recommend it
this is so funny!
Laura benanti
Oh, Laura.....
6:46 Hit me 🤣🤣🤣
btw i hate carrie underwoods singing voice and i like laura better than idina menzel. im 18 and i adore laura! if i was in this class id be freaking out (and rightfully so!) and i love this satire of kids only liking pop modern musicals. the kids are so funny & great actors
So much for 'clear diction' for actors. This is the problem with mic packs. They produce lazy voices. Half of the lines in this vid are poorly delivered due, mainly, to audio balance or the Director was shizanhausen. Yep. That isn't a compliment.
