  • This video demonstrates how a sinus or nasal rinse is performed using saltwater (0:14). Sinus rinses are very helpful for patients who suffer from allergies or frequent sinus infections. Here, a sinus rinse is demonstrated using the Neilmed bottle.

    From my experience ,if I do cardio exercises 5-10 mins after nasal irrigation ,it clears the nose even more effectively . Its worth a try

      Totally agree...I remember when it was starting to get severe for me slowly slowly, every morning at 5 am i used to wake up and get ready for gym (after my usual 4 sneezes one after the other at the time, now 15 almost every morning after I wake up). But point is that by the time I was back from gym, the rest of the day was perfectly fine. So yes I agree with your statement.

    Love your presentation. It's the best I've seen so far and I've seen quite a few.
    I'm just getting back into it after months of not doing it and I find it hurts when I do it after a few seconds and also I'm not getting the flow into the other nostril .Any tips?

      ​@@excellinkus if you habe septoplasy (crooked cartilage) this will help you way better than just do the enlarge because after the enlarge symptom will come backs after yeas if the cause of enlarge doesnt treat

    Thank you very much, this will help get the ketamine/MDMA out of nostril, my father just recently passed away and me and the brothers had a few too many beersies at his funeral then those beersies turned to nose beersies.

      @@JenniferElliott1 Depends on the cause of the congestion. If the congestion is caused by excessive amounts of mucus -- it will help, if the congestion is caused by allergens - it will also help, but only to some extend. If the congestion is caused by viral infection, the effect of the washing your nose will be very limited. I suggest you look for pressure-point technics to relieve that kind of congestion...

      I’ve had this issue for years. I also got diagnosed with eustachian tube dysfunction some years back. 😔

      @@thosetwodudes careful not to do it too much! Your nose requires a layer of mucus to function properly and this will wash it away. Only rinse when you are plugged up or feel congested

    I can't seem to get ot to stop going down my throat no matter how i put my head. When I start to feel it go back my throat closes quick and it just seems to travel right in and causes me an awful choking gagging fit 😢 pretty bad i can't even do this right

    I do a sinus rinse on my 10 year old son each day to help with recurring sinusitis. He now has an ear infection and on antibiotics. Can I still do a sinus rinse on him each day?

      Yes on the breathing through the mouth. Be careful with the squeezing as the air can cause pressure the me to flow is better for this reason and easier that both squeeze and neti pot, in my experience

      I read in one thread: you can do "kakaka" sound while doing the nose rinse. it'll help keep water out of the ear.

      @twitzmixx yeah I read that too. It works pretty well. I just tip my head forward now when I squeeze the bottle, and it doesn't go in my ear canals anymore.

      It can be but don’t do it too often because you can dry out your nose.

      It does, to an extent. To get rid of clogged ears you need your sinuses cleared and you need to chew a lot. Chewing gum is your friend for this.

      Never put saline down your ear, when it dries and leaves salt behind it can irritate your ear and cause infection.

      @@jonstfrancis If your ears are clogged *from the inside* (eustachius tube), the only way you're going to unclog them is from the inside, with a sinus rinse.
      Who the hell puts water in their ears on purpose anyway? It's super annoying.

      I think it feels good moat of the time. Relieving, but if my sinuses are irritated it burns a little, but it's not unbearable.

      Then you are doing incorrect. It takes time and practice; I got better results doing in shower 🤷🏾. You may also have a deviated septum or some other issue, therefore TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR🧐. This year my wife started working with Pre-K Petri dishes snot, infested children so I started using more often 😎

      From what Ive been reading from others, I think it means that your sinus is too clogged up fir it to pass through to the other side.
      Other things Ive read are dont force it, just Let it remain a gentle flow and the solution should slowly break up the nasal congestion.
      Maybe your just too blocked up at the moment, but after a few rinses maybe it will start to break down

    Sometimes i do this and the water gets stuck feel like I'm drowning. I will say that the salt is fantastic tho. It helped me to heal a wound. I use the salt packets to disinfect things using a spray bottle.

    Anyone using this because of fluid buildup behind eardrum. My Dr told me to use this to help with the issue. Fluid buildup behind eardrums- can’t hear at all. Hoping this gives some relief.

      @@techbananas it worked!! Instantly unblocked and I do it every other day to keep it unblocked. I was so shocked that I cried! However, I still have tinnitus on and off which I think was caused by Covid.

      make sure you're not forcing it. if there's a full obstruction it can go down your ear canal and cause a dirty infection. blow your nose first and try to make sure you have a sliver of air that can move before rinsing.

      She is using microwave to just warm the water a liitle bit, you don't need a microwave. you can just some heat the water, it makes easier the water to going into the nose passage.

    What if when you rinse one side and it appears to be harder for the liquid to come out of the other side, while on the other hand I have no problem rinsing from the other one? Do I keep rinsing until I am able to do from both sides?

      Yes, it will eventually come out from the other end.

      When the water has a problem going to the other nostril it goes down the throat. It has happened to me a few times when I'm very congested.

      @@DavidRodriguez-hg6kq You should continue to breath through your mouth so the water does not go in your throat. You can also make ‘quh/kuh’ sounds to ensure the water does not go down your throat.

      only use on the plugged side until it's clear, don't switch to the unplugged side if other side is still plugged is what I was told

    Did that and it got stuck behind my swollen side...I sneezed and it was nasty. Nose was still stuffy too .

      don’t use if one nostril is completely blocked, it says in the instructions. sorry that happened

      @@hoodbitch2764 If one nostril is blocked, only use it on that side until it's unblocked. Don't use on a side if the other is blocked

    I just did this for the first time but the water didn't appear or feel like it was coming out the other nostril.

      Same here, I've done it before without issues but the last 2 days it's not coming out the other nostril...saw someone else commented that it could be from inflammation 😞

      @@poconopatriot567that’s usually what is, besides if you have a deviated septum or another medical condition. Repeated nose blowing can inflame your nasal passages causing them to swell.

    Am I supposed to blow my nose (with a tissue) before switching nostrils?
    It's more convenient to just do both sides, then blow my nose.

      Blowing is not needed and can be even dangerous. If you need to blow, blow it very carefully.
