WHAT IS WRONG WITH LIVERPOOL?

  • Jurgen Klopp looked baffled as he watched his Liverpool team lose at home for the first time in 34 games. Liverpool face a huge battle to keep their Europa League final hopes in Dublin alive after suffering a shock home defeat to Atalanta in the quarter-final first leg at Anfield. Former West Ham forward Gianluca Scamacca scored in each half and even throwing on Salah, Szoboszlai and Diaz wasn't enough for Liverpool. All to do in Bergamo.

As an Arsenal fan, I think Liverpool’s struggles is not just being wasteful In front of the goal. It’s has to do with lack of game management. klopp's Tactics this season has cost us,
playing both fullbacks inverted make us very narrow
Díaz constantly moving into the central striker position forcing Núñez out wide
Mo is no longer a winger as best just as free role striker but Klopp making them play as a traditional winger with chalk on his boots make us very slow
make Szoboszlai ball winner rather than a player who can ghost into the opposition box,
    then the transfers-
Robertson time as the number one left back is over , good squad player why we did not buy a new left back in the summer or in the winter
have only Díaz & Mo as only wide players as Jota is best as striker , Elliott is not a wide player , Gakpo is not good enough at anything
not buy more physical athlete as a defensive midfielder with pace
combined has really hurt us trying to win more trophies

I said months ago that our offense was the problem.
Statistically we score the second most goals, but in terms of shot accuracy (14th) shot conversion rate (10) big chance conversion (11) we are not good enough.
Unfortunately, the only player (Jota) with a good finish is injured for 70% of the season.
Salah scores a lot of goals, but needs 5 big chances before he scores. Nunez and Diaz are great players, in some parts world class, in finishing just average.

To be honest, all you have to do is nick the ball off us and hoof it to the wings. You're gonna get a one -on-one chance if you have pacy wingers and a forward who keeps direct in the middle. The way we played Atalanta reminded me of the 7-2 hammering at Aston Villa, we just had no defence, they were a million miles away. We can and have played better than this, but this was a really bad night for Liverpool. Atlanta did their homework, completely outplayed us and could have scored more.
Anfield was an absolute graveyard before and during the game, I know that the atmosphere should not make a match but it does help. The vibe in the ground was the worst I've ever experienced in 44 years of supporting my club - I know the protest situation and all that - but it was so flat... and that was before Atalanta even scored. It was just a shocking performance from players. manager and fans.
There's two ways I can look at this. 1, this was a kick up the ass we needed and we regroup, stop being complacent and cocky and get our shit together. We can go on an epic run and finish the season with a flourish or 2, we just implode and dramatically drop points, morale, and end up fighting for fourth place.

Trent, Salah, Jota, Szobozlai, jones, Robertson, Allison, Konate, Matip, Nunez have all been injured this year, our best players are all coming back now. This has affected our quality in the final third. Liverpool have lost just 2 league games this season and one of them was the spurs farce with VAR, they also got royally screwed over against city and Arsenal in draws that arguably would’ve been wins with fair reffing .. they are still joint top of the premier league so nothing has really changed and they are the only team who have actually won a trophy so far this season. It’s not that they aren’t good enough, but the forwards keep missing easy chances which is really frustrating, in a lot of the big games Liverpool have had about 20-30+ chances. The answer is there, if they finish their chances they are easily the best attacking team in the league. They are the only team who’s strikers are all on double figures for scoring, injuries and referees have almost derailed the season.. but Liverpool are still in with a chance and that’s good enough for me after last season. If we go out of Europa.. it will be disappointing, but we’ve lost two champions league finals in recent years.. which is way worse than going out of Europa.. if we go out, for the first time in the season we will be able to focus on the league games and this might go in our favour as it will refresh the squad and we won’t be playing Thursday Sunday.. while city and Arsenal might still be in the champions league which will be tough on arsenal.. city can probably cope with their squad.

Think many people don't seem to understand the situation, after last season Liverpool were never really meant to be in a title race, the entire midfield was replaced in one summer and injuries have pretty badly affected the defence. The fact that Liverpool are still in the title race is a massive overachievement.

The differences between this and Barça comeback is that 1, we had the second leg at home. The crowd starts believing with one goal and spark the comeback. And 2, in the Camp Nou, we ran Barça off the park, unlucky in front of goal, but we played amazing footy and it gave us the belief that we can. Vs Atalanta, we lacked hunger we looked lazy, and were by far the worse side on the day. Comebacks not on this time. I just hope this doesn’t affect their belief in the league.

The intense period loss of games werw acceptable without blame already passed. It is really confusing and difficult to accept the loss of the game at home after all seniors players returned from injuries, still dominating the games with many big chances wasted by senior strikers then paid the team the heavy cost at the final of the wistle at the period of time everyone connected to the team excited and expecting the win. Really it is puzzling.

*Maybe* going out of Europe might help them and [maybe Jota coming back?] might revitalise them - I certainly don’t see them coming back in Italy.
But we’ll have to see if the squad and manager is hungry and composed enough to rebound quick enough.
