Fabulous! In her sixties and she is still the greatest. Wish her and Eleanor Powell could have had a duet together. That would have been unbelievable. If anyone knows of one, please let me know.
Hard to imagine the hours of practice and training that she endured all through her career to put on the shows she did - even towards the end. Always a perfectionist and star!
She was incredibly nice to her fans! I waited at 14 outside the Papermill Theater and she signed one of my favorite autographs. She brought the house to her feet doing Panama Hattie and looked so beautiful! Years later doing Follies she took pictures with fans. What a Lady! What a talent! Such a a gem!
Saw her at Papermill in Follies also. After 'I'm Still Here' you couldn't get the audience back in their seats. Stopped the show. What a show - greatest cast ever.
My Mom was a NATIVE HOUSTONIAN and so PROUD of ANN MILLER....my Mom was born in 1930 and there were only 220,000 people in Houston at that time......one of them was ANN MILLER.....what a talent!!!
This is just totally amazing. I have the show taped from years ago and seeing this rehearsal just proves even more how fabulous and talented Miss Miller was and is, I adore her xxx
talent , beauty, legs for days , Ann had it all ,she was electric to watch on the screen stars like her and judy will never be seen again ,but we will have them for ever on film !!!!!!!
Miller, Garland , Astaire, Fitzgerald to name a few truly great talents that are physically gone now , but never forgotten . We owe it to further generations to remember their amazing legacies . Thank God we have their bodies of work digitally or on film that we can enjoy for years to come . The years of joy they’ve given me they’ll never know ...
Wow this is amazing - and the more times you watch it the more little details you pick up - like how she even went to the bother of wearing a brooch on her dance suite - and watch her get that guys attention at 4:18 - she knew how to work the crown even in a room with only 5 people in it - Love love love Annne Miller - its people like her that made America great - because they were great
You can see the whole number by looking under Chasing the Blues 1987....it opens with Lee Roy Reams, Don Correia, Gregg Burge and Hinton Battle doing some amazing tapping on a staircase. Worth it!
Her life story is amazing. At 13 she was a star and everyone thought she was 18. She used a fake birth certificate. So her age is often listed incorrectly. What a gal.
nice. a childhood friend's chosin, Ros Curry, was the lead Sugarbaby, in SUGARBABIS, on Broadway. Ann was such a professional....put VERYTHING on the stage performance.
When stars looked fab, could and DID sing while doing their amazing routines: and not some 2 minute fluff, but a whole production number! Amazing lady!
Why is she tapping in the sound booth? I know that she had to redub her taps in a sound booth for the movies. But this rehearsal was for a live performance. Also didn't she dance to a live orchestra during the performance? Why is the orchestra pre recording the music? Can you enlighten me?
I just love Ann Miller! That’s not an inner tube around her midriff, it’s a brace from being thrown down the stairs by a husband when she was nine months pregnant. She lost that child. It was the only one she ever had.
I think the story here is a little confused. The brace was worn in 1948 when the domestic incident happened and Ann miscarried. This was almost 40 years later and the belt she wears, whilst possibly for physical reasons, is not related (directly at least) to the accident you mention.
What a wonder! I am re-posting this because it is so prescient today. True story. My pal, Scot Stewart was in SUGAR BABIES w/Ann. Scot: "Annie, are you working Passover?" Ann: "Oh, honey, I NEVER do game shows!" Gotta love her.
*I LOVE Ann MiLLer!!! I've ALREADY Programed, Ann MiLLer, into My BRAIN!!!* *When Doctor says, "Your Time is now short!", I'm Going to Shout Out, "Great"!!!* *"I'm going to Soooon Meet Ann MiLLer!!!!*

I remember reading somewhere that she was and remains the fastest tap dancer in history, tapping at, approximately, 1000 taps a minute at full strength. Watching her, as I will this weekend, in "Easter Parade" dancing to "Shaking the Blues Away", alone, tapping her way into history books then with Fred Astaire, more ballroom, in "It Only Happens When I Dance With You" are 2 great numbers My favorite, though....is a song that wasn't originally in the Broadway show though written by the same composer/lyricist, Cole Porter, in "Kiss Me Kate", dancing "From This Moment On" with so many great dancers from Bib Fosse, who they let choreograph his bit with Carol Haney to Tommy Rall (Seven Brides For Seven Brothers...and I believe he was 'Frankincense') .....3 couples dancing amazingly to an amazing song. Imagine that her own father, an esteemed lawyer, forged her birth certificate so she could work at 13 but say she was 18. She was so tall. She was all class, though occasionally played a not so nice hoofer. Left the world too soon but will always be remembered, for her being a performer and archivist in being able to talk about Hollywood when Hollywood was what we believe it to be. Especially MGM! Brava, Ms. Miller.

Such professionalism . Loved the rehearsal footage😊
She was 64 years old here, folks! She'd stayed in training, that's clear to see! Love her!!!
*At 14, she was with Ginger Rogers!!!!*
And she was a smoker too. Amazing she danced as long as she did.

Lovely to see her tapping "live" for a change, rather than miming to a dubbed performance! (Also cool to see how the dubbed taps are recorded.)
I don’t think they were recording her taps in the recording booth. I think that was just to ensure the tempo matched the dance moves.
