I like to know who the America haters are so I can engage in a little peaceful protest of my own (This means you, Nike). The flag belongs to America as a group. Not right or left. All Americans. Disrespecting it disrespects all of us. And doing it for even good political causes is wrong. (Yes, I agree police seeing a Black man as a free-fire zone is repugnantly wrong.)

So you might as well wear the damn shoes and get your money's worth. PS: You don't know Kaepernick anymore than I know him. So get off your high horse. Go ride your little pony!
This reminds me of that JK Rowling clap back on Twitter. When someone tweeted at her that he was gonna burn his Harry Potter collection, she tweeted back saying, "the fumes from the DVDs might be toxic and I already have your money, so by all means borrow my lighter" 😂
I care. Coming from a military family, myself and my family agree with him. Most Veterans I've spoken to agree that is EXACTLY why they fight. To protect our freedoms. 🇺🇸
I don't know why people are burning the shoes... Nike already got your money 😭😭. Shit, I'm about to buy more Nike gear in the morning because of Colin Kaepernick. People who find kneeling during the national anthem is disrespectful clearly don't know their first amendment. You people saying it's disrespectful to soldiers, but wouldn't do a DAMN to help homeless veterans on the street.
Signs Including, they wouldn't give a used pair of sneakers they don't want anymore to a homeless vet... they'd rather burn them and poison the air even more.
Signs What have you done for a homeless veteran? Perhaps you should take the money you're spending tomorrow and back up your sanctimonious preaching, with action. But we both know you don't give a shit.
I volunteer to help with the VA to get veterans claims to push along because 1% of America ACTUALLY care for them. Also want to add that I've served this country in the U.S Army for 5 years.
Yeah because schools shootings happens all the time and the reason they happen is because some people want attention they want to get a message out so if u don’t talk about it it won’t happen ass much off coarse this isn’t the case all the time tho
Not a Nike fan, but I'll start buying their products because there's nothing wrong with peaceful protests against injustice and discrimination. Taking a knee is not disrespectful, is a sign of respect and humility. Soldiers have served to protect freedoms, and one of these freedoms Americans have, is to protest. Don't use our soldiers to turn people against each other. In my county, we have homeless veterans that need shoes, clothing, food, better health care, so if trumptards respect our soldiers so much why don't they help veterans?
Pat VelVet wtf u libtards are mentally retarded&ill like Trevor Noah talks about how evertything is politicised in this country(like conservatives making everything political) meanwhile liberal supporter Companies like Nike are puting political ads....i don t know sometimes i feel like i am talking with mentally retarded persons when i speak to liberals

Some people (mostly Republicans) do not understand boycotts. It means not buying services/product from the company. Destroying you own stuff means nothing. Nike already has their money.
Stephen Ables NFL attendance has not changed . There is no boycotts - just RWNJ destroying their own property. www.statista.com/statistics/193420/regular-season-attendance-in-the-nfl-since-2006/
Isn't it a bit stupid if people say that they are going to boycott Nike and instead go and buy products from competing companies !? I mean Nike is an American company and the next biggest comparable sport clothing companies are Adidas and Puma and thus instead of supporting the US economy they support the German economy. As a German I absolutely don't mind but it doesn't make a lot of sense ;D
It's just gets me upset because there are kids going to school with holes in their shoes and homeless vets with their shoes falling apart. Yet people are burning their expensive shoes to spite a company.
Jan-Niklas Riezler don't think it really matters. People buy foreign products over American all the time anyway. It's not like there is some allegiance to buying American only products and just now because of this they are no longer gonna buy American only.
Gosling is absolutely right, he just said what Armstrong ALWAYS said in public, that the moonlanding was not a singular achievement, should not be viewed as such, that he was NO hero because he was just a man put on the forefront of a team of many that made it possible, and that this was an achievment for mankind and should be celebrated as such. he never wanted to be instrumentalized as US-hero that conquered the moon. why would we have waited until his death to do just that, how disgraceful would that be? oh, and if you don't think so, just watch his interviews. he was an amazing man. he had a very specific idea of what role he wanted in history, and what he didn't want.
I get you're point, but the moment of him putting the flag is was a American achievement, just because Armstrong didn't want it to be like that specifically, that's just how it went down. The movie also bugs me mainly because it isnt historically accurate and that always bugs me. I'm not gonna boycott tho that's just ridiculous.
@@FriedrichHerschel True, but this particular movie is imitating a important historical event, so i hold it to the standard that it's as accurate as possible without interrupting the story of course.
I've noticed that American people, not all, just those few, believe the best way of hurting a company, is by destroying the products you already own from that company and they believe this makes a statement.....Ya'll throw away food like this too when you decide to boycott a certain brand? You aren't hurting the company, they already got your money, they don't give a damn what you do after you buy it. You would have simply done a better job if you took all your unused items and refunded them and give the used ones to the salvation army or something. Also if you're going to buy them to burn them, don't waste your time going to the store, just take the money out of your wallet and set it on fire at home. That way, Nike won't get it.
oh well Red talk to papa johns racist ass, he first lost customers then he went on a racist rant that cost him his position and picture on the packaging and his image in commercials, then the final blow came when the Indianapolis colts bailed on him and went to pizza hut, which is always better pizza than papa johns. So boycotts do work, as long as enough people participate.
It all depends on the manner approached, there are smart ways and then, you have damaging your own property in order to make a statement. There are many ways to make your point and make your boycott successful, but I doubt if everyone just went to Papa John's, bought the pizza and threw it in a river or down a sewer, it'd be effective, since they would have still put their money into the company. 100 People burning and destroying merchandise they purchased with their own money and buying more to burn is the equivalent of sawing the log you're sitting on.
@@redbandit2261 look at what people did to the Dixie chicks years ago. I remember people burning everything they had of theirs and their sales and sponsors and everything was like they were gone over night. I don't know how many years it took them but they finally came back but they will never make the hype they use to have!
Best hing about people burning shoes is that they never wear them. Also we all know that Nike and many other brands are exploiting children in the non developed country's. So your Nike shoes and clothing that are so expensive in the USA and Europe are counterfeit in China and cost three times less, some times they are even better than the "original". And NIke does not complain about it?
It was a smart move for Nike to capitalize off of Kapernick, and I'm sure it was also good for Kapernick to have a brand side with him.....but the only way that I'd be impressed with Nike is if they donated a percentage of their sales to his cause. I'm not going to burn my shoes, but I'm not going to go out of my way to support them. I'd rather buy less expensive shoes and give the difference directly to his cause. Buying shoes isn't going to help anyone, but Nike.
Come to think of it kneeling is a form of submission. Same in churches during service or communion. So Kaepernick has been respecting the flag all this time. Go figure.
let's be honest. The people with an issue don't care to know this or the reason. They just want to not be inconvenienced with someone drawing attention to injustice that barely affects them directly. Self-centeredness of the administration has trickled down.
Some people: "Burn Nike shoes and boycott that company!" Other people: "Stand by Nike! Buy their stuff!" Me: "...wonder if now would be a good time to get a few stocks in Nike~?"
"All the walls on my home must GOOOOOOOO!!!!" laughed way too hard on that,. But, then again, considering how America looks right now,. Its not far from impossible. 😂
Another fun fact. Nobody of those morons burnt their shoes as Nike was using exploited (sometimes kidnapped) childrens to make them. Same goes with all the slave worker scandal. And NOW they choose to burn their shoes. Those peoples diserve more burning forests, one or two Katrina revivals, and a good dose of spanish flu other that.
Nike does need Republicans money. Because a decrease in sales of 10% is a huge problem. 20% - that's bankruptcy. Don't worry, soon Nike would release another add kissing the Right Wing's ass because Nike is only interested in sales and nothing else. hehe I love how Leftists think it's a 'win'. Nike just want - LOTS OF MONEY! They are the opposite of 'socialists'. hehehehehehe
@@TheEntilza What rubbish. You think that all the executives at Nike would not have foreseen any sort of repercussion. It's obvious that they concluded that the campaign would be worth it though. Nike will lose a little no doubt but I'm sure they know where their bread is buttered by now.

Saw this on the news last night. I'm not American, so I may get backlash for commenting. I found it really weird that ryan Gosling was called an unpatriotic idiot by fox news presenters because the flag placement wasnt in the movie. Ummm hes an actor, theres no way that it was his decision to not include that scene in the movie. Hes a really hot, very talented actor, but hes not the director or editing or production team in charge of picking the scenes that go into the movie.

This reminds me when Trevor confronted Tomi Lahren with this, "So here's a black man in America, I don't how to get a message across, If I march in the streets people say I'm a thug, If I go out and I protest people say that it's a riot, If I bend down on one knee, then it's... What is the right way for a black person to get attention in America?" Now if brands intervention to that political issue is 'still' not the right way either, back to that question.

wow. wanting the police *the people the civilians are meant to trust* to stop killing innocent people is a problem?? why is black on black crime which is mostly gang related activity, brought up in talks of police brutality?? is this your way to deflect? There is also white on white crime, but i wouldn't bring that up in discussion of the alarming declining population of white america, most of which is due to declining birth rate, suicide, drug use, alcoholism and other crimes....there is no correlation.

@kcotte59 I missed the comment you replied to, but based on the context of your response: This boycott seems pointless to me. It's not like they're returning all their clothes to Nike and getting their money back. They're literally destroying their own property as a symbolic movement. Nike might lose a bit of money from followers of the boycott, but there are still plenty of people who will buy their stuff, so I don't think Nike will be too affected

Of course not. The reason the flag's not in the movie is because they want to distribute it in CHINA! They don't want the Chinese to ban the movie because of the American flag. It is that cynical a move on the filmmaker's part.
realmadridfn04 I think he should have just made an excuse like they lost it or something instead of trying to make it political. He says "I don't think he viewed himself" that means he doesn't know. I have heard it expressed before that taking a knee during the national anthem is a terrible thing to do because soldiers fought and died so that people had that right in the first place. As a former U.S. Army soldier myself, I am pretty sure that is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. I am not unappreciative of support for the troops but the flag and national anthem are not cues for jingoistic military worship.
Schmengie Pat VelVet "to honor America please remove your caps and stand". Yea nothing disrespectful about doing the exact opposite of what is being asked to do to honor America. I'm really just curious how this thought has not entered you head? He could protest so many other ways. Hell he could even protest doing the same thing but why in the world would he choose that 1 minute to kneel. Just 1 minutes your asked to stand to honor America and he chooses to kneel during that moment. How can you possibly not see that as blatant and intentional disrespect towards the country?

I sit during the national anthem because it contains lyrics about slavery-- not out of disrespect to Veterans or the American flag, but because I'm against having the official song of the "Land of the Free" being written by slave owners and condoning slavery. Anyone who doesn't get that and still has a problem with Black America's disdain for that song... is making it crystal clear how they feel about slavery and Black people. "Facing mounting pressure, _The New Yorker_ has dropped plans to interview Steve Bannon during its festival, next month." Why the hell is a prominent news outlet still trying to give Steve Bannon national attention? Trump plucked him from obscurity after perceiving him to be useful, and in so doing, made me aware that he existed. Since then, Trump has _fired_ Steve Bannon and Bannon subsequently _returned_ to obscurity. How in the world did he arrange this interview? Why is it so hard to just _leave_ Bannon in obscurity?
I mean, the New Yorker has interviewed convicted war criminals, terrorists, and other horrible people before and gotten some great articles out of it. The dumb move was doing it as part of a live event where Bannon's bullshit can't immediately be put in context by research and citations, and giving him another stage to spew from.

Why burn the shoes? Nike has your money and you don’t have shoes. Who is really winning? Now if they were protesting child labor and actually did something effective, I could get behind that.
I’ve noticed this years ago and it’s become kind of a private game I play, where I try to find the American flag in movies....it’s gotten to the point where I actually try to find movies that lack the flag. It’s harder to find a movie without the flag than with...
I think the commercial is great. It shows someone was actually listening and watching to what has been going on. Close minnded people took his protest and turned it into a shit show. They totally disregarded his protest because it made them uncomfortable. So instead of addressing the reason for his protest they chose to make the conversation about how he chose voice his protest. How did the the focus become about the flag. We let the KKK a known hate group march in our streets protected by the law. But when black people try to rally themselves for a righteous case we have batons, tear gas, waterhoses and dogs set upon us BY THE LAW. Why is it different when it comes to us ?
What does the American flag have to do with "police brutality"? I mean, if you're going to protest something, it should have SOMETHING to do with your message, right?
"I'm so enraged by an ad that I will burn my $200 shoes, that will teach those snowflakes and sjw how to behave". I'm so amazed by those conservatives that I reckon they deserve a scientific study (that they will deny later ...cause it's science, that's what they do). Why do you think that destroying your own property will do something to change Nike's way of doing advertising?
It's because they've never had to protest something that was actually important so they don't know how. Like when they protested Starbucks having red cups by buying even more coffee. They're not pushing for social change, they're throwing a tantrum.
@@nomisunrider6472 That makes sense. Wait! They protested Starbucks by buying more coffee? Somebody has to teach them to protest. This is just ridiculous.

Isn't it a bit stupid if people say that they are going to boycott Nike and instead go and buy products from competing companies !? I mean Nike is an American company and the next biggest comparable sport clothing companies are Adidas and Puma and thus instead of supporting the US economy they support the German economy.
It's a movie, not a documentary. I expect movies to be inacurate to some extend.
@@FriedrichHerschel
True, but this particular movie is imitating a important historical event, so i hold it to the standard that it's as accurate as possible without interrupting the story of course.
It'll be what happened to George Washington all over again. Oh how he would weep at what our political system has become...
So are we "flag washing" the history now - because he DID plant the flag, you know......that racist, sexist, patriarchal symbol!

Umm and those same democrats left the party and became republican and took their beliefs with them: www.salon.com/2016/03/04/why_republicans_blaming_democrats_for_the_kkk_are_profoundly_wrong/
Um... there was literally *no* mention of partisan alignment in that comment. Doesn't matter if +Aly Jiselle is a Rep. or Dem. what matters is the content of the anthem.
@@imari2305 That's a Democrat lie! The Republican party was helped by freed slaves dummy.
They are forcing my child to pledge allegiance but at least they are not forcing him to stand
I think I now have an excuse to buy some Jordans on the next drop 🤔
susiq1121 lol jordan is a sub brand of Nike
susiq1121 You and me both!
Jordan’s are not the same as Nike, fyi. Michael himself famously said “republicans buy shoes too”...
Jordan supports kap so thank you! 👏👏👏👏👏
they're saying it in a good way haha like they now they a better excuse to spend the money
Well, the Nike share is 79 bucks now.. maybe it’s time i buy some 🤔🤔
How can Trevor n Colbert be on holiday at the same time? I missed them so much to get me through this news cycles. 😊😊😊
And Seth too!
Not every single segment is as great as the others. But this was gold
Do these people even know why he took a knee in the first place ??
They do. But in their zeal to condemn the protest and demand football be played, they've ignored the reason.
To virtue signal to his BLM girlfriend and get laid.
Trace ToyZ They either don't care, stupid, or just racist individuals.
Bannon has the right to espouse whatever hateful nonsense he wants, but he doesn't have the right to be free of the consequences.
Josh Wilson I think Bannon is trash, but I don’t think you fully understand what freedom of speech means... 😂
He also isn't owed a platform and mic, which a lot of "free speech absolutists" don't understand.
Emily Rodriguez I think they do understand. It’s a choice to give him a platform... which is an even scarier bit.
Gareth De Bruyn wtf this just shows how low intelligence you are So “commercial speach” is not covered by the law?how in the name of jesus christ you get to this conclusion, and do you realise that offensivd speech is such subjective notion...like just in a totalitarist regime you can make offensive speech “illegal”,you realise how the term offensive its So interpretable, for me it could mean one thing for you another, there isn t Even no clear definition of the word
gushanana free speech should be without consequences, with some exceptions like threathening to kill somebody or a group of person or to do real Harm to them
"Facing mounting pressure, _The New Yorker_ has dropped plans to interview Steve Bannon during its festival, next month."
Why the hell is a prominent news outlet still trying to give Steve Bannon national attention?
I'm finna buy myself hella Nikes. And a Kaepernick Jersey to go with them.
So you like to lose
J Sim loose what?
Welcome back Trevor
Thanks to those racist from now on every neakers I buy is going to be Nike
😃😃😃😃😃😃
If you want to support a company that uses third world country slave labor, sure.
What makes them racists to point out fakery and hypocrisy?!?
That's showing those patriots...er...I mean racists!!!
Nike is exploiting a police brutality issue for profit and you all are supporting it. Shame on you. Shame on Nike
I never owned Nike's, now I have to go buy some!!
Lol
Then take them strolling up on MLK Boulevard and see who shoots you first, a gangster or a cop.
fuck Nike . Go Adidas woooooooh ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I had a pair back in the early 80's. You know when they were reasonably priced
Why? To make Nike more money? That’s the only thing they care of. Those shoes are still made by childeren in Vietnam .
The Handmaid's tale is seeming more and more plausible as a future for 'Murica...
It was a long couple of weeks without any talk show hosts on air to make fun of Trump, but we survived it. Now I'm going to get my popcorn and watch Trump get roasted over and over again.
Hammad Ali they should really coordinate their breaks. Seth Meyers, Stephen Colbert and John Oliver were on break as well! I almost lost my mind. I’m so happy now though! Patience is a virtue.
I was having withdrawals. It was getting bad. And what a time for them all to be gone! With guilty pleas and convictions and indictments and whatnot.
Trevor: "I don't understand why conservatives are so angry..."
Me: It's all they know
Not angry enough to destroy other people's property though right? i wonder who does that? Trevor Noah-Brains is the angriest little elf of a man of all.
@@trask5909
Wouldn't it be smarter to protest directly at Nike's office, rather than support the company by purchasing items only to burn them? Then your left with a wasted $70 you can no longer use to help buy groceries.
Spectra Light they were probably old shoes
Americans on all sides seem angry. Why we don't all work together for the benefit of everyone is beyond me
@@spectralight8412 That would make sense, but look at what were dealing with.
I love going through the comments and reporting any and everyone who has used racial slurs. Better than keyboard arguments. ☺️
Luke Alsup Nah you get a life

@Luke Alsup it was, because your not worth much more then that.

👑🤝🏼🔥 Well played!
I love Trevor’s air guitar playing!
Believe in something even if it means sacrificing everything Just do it 😁😁
Too ambiguous. Not sure which side you fall on
Unfortunately, only few of us have those convictions
Go Nike! You have a new customer!
Why burn the shoes? Nike has your money and you don’t have shoes. Who is really winning? Now if they were protesting child labor and actually did something effective, I could get behind that.
Trump's apparel was made in China, Thailand and Bangladesh by the same child labor.
Why aren't you protesting child labor then??
What are you trying to say ? I don't get it.
@@anthonyferguson7259 you really didn't get it ?
@@beez6964 I'm slow
What does the American flag have to do with "police brutality"? I mean, if you're going to protest something, it should have SOMETHING to do with your message, right?
If you block streets, refuse to move, and get violent, you better damn well believe the police will stop you.
It's a pretty simple concept.
Kneeling is more respectful than standing. Everyone should kneel.
joe ramone So did your mother!
I believe that Nike will sell more outside of America just because of the ad.
Haha, just bought one yesterday and I live in Bali. So you are right.
Because of the Ad*
For sure in China
Roxann Webbe, Thank you, I hate when that happens to me 😂
the shoe disrespects the troops, muahahahaha
"I'm so enraged by an ad that I will burn my $200 shoes, that will teach those snowflakes and sjw how to behave". I'm so amazed by those conservatives that I reckon they deserve a scientific study (that they will deny later ...cause it's science, that's what they do). Why do you think that destroying your own property will do something to change Nike's way of doing advertising?
rasjeff1 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It's because they've never had to protest something that was actually important so they don't know how. Like when they protested Starbucks having red cups by buying even more coffee. They're not pushing for social change, they're throwing a tantrum.
@@nomisunrider6472 That makes sense.
Wait! They protested Starbucks by buying more coffee? Somebody has to teach them to protest. This is just ridiculous.
rasjeff1 Yeah they thought that Starbucks making red cups was part of the "war on Christmas" so they decided to protest by buying coffee and saying their names were "merry christmas" so the employees would have to tell them "merry christmas".
@@nomisunrider6472 yeahh...they don't think things through
This guy is a comic genius
You don't really need to be a comic genius when you have people burning their own shoes because an nfl player knelt during the anthem. The absurdity of it is funny enough as it is.
The moonlanding was so American that a German engeneer had to build there rocket(Werner von Braun)

In actual fact, it wasn’t an American mission the moon mission was a nazis program all they did was take off the swatzikas and replace it with the American flag but hey ignorance they say is bliss
