Just would like to add that my radiator came with a new o-ring for the lower hose. Mine leaked like you mentioned in the video and I almost replaced it until I found that o-ring in the packaging for the radiator. Saved me 170 bucks for a new hose! Probably should have replaced it anyway but didn't want to part with that much money unless absolutely necessary :) Also should mention that I shopped the radiator for quite some time and found the best deal at RockAuto.com. Same exact model that is sold at AutoZone but for 100 bucks less with free 2 day shipping.
That is a great deal! I saw that the autozone radiator had the o-ring but the one from GM did not. I ended up buying a new hose assembly anyway which came with the ring. I wasted a bit of money but wanted to replace everything. Thanks again!
I am getting ready to do a radiator change on a 2004 silverado 3500 8.1L. the top radiator shroud has a "bank of wire plug connectors". is that some kind of ECM? How did you remove it. Thank you in advance for any comments on this.
@ZentRoseMBA. Hey you and i have the same avalanche 2500 with the 8.1 liter engine my truck is another color. So im trying to locate the engine cooling temp sensor. Can you explain to me where it's at. Thanks. Wendy p.
8.1? Oh my that must be a pig on fuel. I myself have a 2005 Sierra Denali AWD with the 6.0L and its bad enough. Onboard computer says 16.7L/100klm. Yes I live in Canada and we use the metric system. Besides that, we are heavily taxed on fuel here. Avg price for regular 87 is 106.5/L. How's the mileage with the 8.1? And is it also AWD?
It is a part time 4wd truck, I leave it in 2wd unless I am playing in the snow or mud. I am getting around 7-8 miles per gallon. According to google conversion I am right around 30L / 100 km. Luckily it has a 37 gallon tank on board so I can drive it around a good distance.
Rare to find videos on this truck. Replacing the radiator on my Av 2500 now and this was really helpful. Thanks so much!!
You're welcome. Send me a message if you have any specific questions I can answer. Enjoy the truck!

They made these with an 8.1?!?!?! Holy moly.....
Yeah it's a cool truck. 8.1L gasoline engine. Gets about 7-8 mpg
I think they made them up until 2009. I have an 03 silverado 2500HD that gets about 10mpg with a utility tool box on it.

Forgot to mention I believe the computer is lying, because it actually uses closer to 23L/100k

ZentRose wow that is brutal mileage. Have the exhaust manifold bolt heads broken off yet?
Hi all where i can find the same radiator with 4 rows and the joints housings?
Did you have to remove the fan in order to change the radiator itself?
Yes
