Time flies when you're having fun trying to optimize your desktop experience with Defragmentation, History/Temp files, Missing DLL's, Direct-X problems, Port collisions, HDD failures, Unexpected restarts. Problem with windows 8 was they did something to start button..also they promoted mostly tablet mode...

@no idea it's way worse. I had to uninstall 3 updates from Microsoft cos it was messing up my system and fps while playing games.
Unpopular opinion: Windows Vista service pack 2 was actually pretty good.
My grandma had Windows vista and I honestly had no problems with it, I even think that the applications bar looked way better than the one in windows 7

Vista is worse than xp, 7, 8.1 and 10, but it's the OS that runs the best.
It's the worst OS, but it's the best for gaming, if only modern games were still compatible to it.
Vista was my favorite. I had a Dell Inspiron with Vista SP2, and I loved the hell out of that machine until it scorched. Shoutout to Microsoft for the Zune music manager too. The hardest decision of my life was having to uninstall Zune because Microsoft finally pulled the killswitch and it wouldn't even execute.

Actually, I did try enabling the option in the BIOS settings that allow you to see text during bootup, but it only shows a few text, then windows logo with spinner. The nostalgic thing tho was the American Megatrends logo.

Try to Run Windows 7 or Windows 10 on 512mb or 256mb of ram computers, to see if it would work, because it wouldn't. That is the reason and also The manufacturers that had to make New drivers for Vista... 7 and Vista are identical. People loved 7 because it was ready because manufacturers were experienced with New Vista arhitecture and The computers advanced in specs în 2009

Love it or hate it, there's a soft spot in my heart for Windows Vista. It was the grounds between me using Windows XP having not a clue what's going on, and me using Windows 7 super comfortably.

I am 14 and feel old for Windows 7. Literally the only OS I used alongside Windows 8 my entire childhood. I even feel old seeing XP because my grandparents used it until it ended the security updates.
I barely even remember the stuff I saw in Vista. But man, it was my first OS.
The first time I used a computer at school was a PC running Windows Vista, so seeing that on a Virtual Machine on a Windows 11 PC touch my heart you can’t imagine.
windows vista is my childhood. im 14 born 2007 and used until 2014 so from like 2010 are some of my VERY VERY early memories of it when I was nearly 4 until 2014 and maybe a bit of 2015

Lol. I still use Windows 7. Because installing Windows 10 killed my PC and I got stuck on a bootloop which forced me to wipe all my data and reinstall. So I installed Windows 7 and got all of the updates (except newest security updates, cause I don't use Windows Defender so it doesn't matter).
