"High definition" refers to the fact that the graphics have been uprezzed to 1280 x 1024 - and as a result, some of these games may look quite a bit better than you might remember.

one of my first memories was when i was like 4 watching my brother play ocarina of time when it first came out, still my top 3 favourite games of all time, amazing game, and every time i play it nowadays, huge rush of nostalgia
Short term memories here. You forget game genies, expansion packs for games, re-release games with extra content and if a game was broken, no fixing it, you were stuck with broken games
Back then when you always got a full game. Expansion packs did came out later in gaming, but still the base game was complete. Expansion pack wasn't even ready before releasing the base unlike the DLC today. They have already DLC showing. Which means.. we won't include in the game. You will the very basic game and you have to pay for the characters (that should've been int he game already) so you can play with them. We all know it's BS. A DLC should be an after-thought and maybe in a few months that you can see a first DLC as extra. But they already have the DLC ready when the game is already released. Horrible gaming time actually to be in. Everything is half finished... if people won't moan about the bugs and still paying it why spend more money on staff to fix it. I've never seen this many patches for games as before. We get half finished games... patches up later (unless people won't moan, no patches anymore) Scary isn't it?

Fun Fact: Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 was the very last game ever released on the N64

Born in 1994, very good times indeed. The N64 held up for a long time. Was still being used in afterschool care programs / entertainment settings despite newer consoles. Banjo, Donkey Kong and Super smash graphics were legit as. Not bad still to this day. There is a bar in Melbourne, Australia that have multiples couches set up with N64s and Smash bros. Thats how classic this system is

This was a major factor of my childhood. Still probably the most excited thing I have ever got in my life that console.
I always get a sense of joy and sadness watching something like this. These games defined my early teenage years and at the time these games meant the world to me. Getting all the points, upping the difficulty level etc. I would have friends over all the time and our whole day would be to play these games. However it also feels me with sadness that it was in the region of 20 years ago and that is now a time that once was and will never be again.

It was the first 3D home console (well, first that people actually gave a shit about) and racing arcade games were starting to take off so it only made sense

Super Mario 64, F1 Grand Prix, Zelda Ocarina Of Time, Star Wars Racer, Mario Party, Mario Tennis, Mk4, 1080 Snowboarding....such great games

Was more powerful than PC those years. Until 1998 N64 had better graphics than regular PC games without 3d acceleration. The Quake saga and Id software balanced the competition. The problem was the carts with limited memory until 64mb and the downgrade compared to Sgi dev kit. The real potential of N64 you can see on KI arcade.
Honestly coming back and seeing some of these games surprised me on how well they still hold up graphics wise

When i first played Wave Race as a child.. i think it was around the age 6 or 7 i was blown away by the wateranimations. Even my dad stopped by to admire how realistic the water looked by the time. I feel blessed that i could live through the time which i would call the Golden Age of Nintendo. I miss my SNES and N64.
Even today the water animation is super flow. From the graphics to the music, the whole game brings a very sense of joy.

I remember back when my stupid ass thought this was the first mortal kombat game.
Turok was the bomb it works great on an emulator still playing it to this very day.
So many games I've never seen or heard of, and so many that were like the foundation of my gaming childhood. Winback was the stealth and infiltration game I played before MGS, and Perfect Dark was the Sci-Fi shooter before I played a full on immersive sim like Deus Ex on my first PC. I'm surpirsed you showed the Hoth level from Shadows of the Empire but no footage of Rogue Squadron!
My last favorite nintendo console,and i'm glad i still have mine in mint condition. I play it more than any other console i have today. Retro gaming>any other consoles today. A lot of good games in this video, nice. I'm collect video games and for the n64, i have over 250 Pal games for it. It was a nice console but it was a console there was a huge number of interessting games that never released.

Nothing like classic N64 games
Star Fox 64 and F Zero X are still 1000% enjoyable today. I recently completed both, and they hold up so well, especially compared to a lot of the N64 catalogue which feels pretty dated unfortunately, as much as I love Nintendo.

God, snowboarding 1080.. one of my favorite games of all time. Use to adore that game growing up with golden eye and pro skater. I may have not beaten deadly fall in 1080 but it was my favorite moment to get to it
