    Cincinnati Bengals offense line coach Frank Pollack joins us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham to discuss the Bengals's new offensive linemen they selected in the NFL draft; OT Amarius Mims and C Matt Lee.
    Amarius is a huge offensive lineman out of Georgia, and a lot of experts say he has the most upside out of all the offensive linemen drafted. Mims will be competing for the starting right tackle job with new Bengal Trent Brown. Mim joins an offensive tackle group that now has three players over 6'8 making them one of the biggest groups in the NFL.
    The Bengals also selected C Matt Lee from Miami University in the 7th round of the NFL round. This pick according to numerous metrics was the best value of any picks the Bengals had this draft, with many having Lee ranked in their top 5 centers for this class. With Ted Karrs being a free agent next season maybe Lee can have a strong rookie season and be the center of the future for the Bengals.
    We want to thank Frank Pollack for being a fantastic guest and for joining us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham brought to you by First Star Logistics. But a gentle giant in person you met my step son at a radio thing in a bar I told him you played in the super bowl and his jaw dropped. I'll never forget how you responded so kindly and had a conversation with my little boy. He's 24 now. Won his conference in highschool and lost in the state championship.. maybe something you said to him motivated him. I don't know but you are a heck of a good man.

    All I know is Frank better produce this year and actually develop somebody for once. Cuz if not he’s out the door. I’m sick of excuses NO EXCUSES THIS YEAR!! The OL has the talent now it’s his turn to show he’s not useless like he’s showed the last 4 years!!! Make or Break year for Pollack !!!!

      Agree one hundred percent. He's why I didn't Initially like the mims pick. No faith in pollack. Hopefully it works out. He is a mammoth for sure. Anybody at tackle is an upgrade over Jonah. Whom pollack did not develop well. Not sure pollack could develop a pimple but we'll see

    Answer me this please - if we’re on the goal line, if we put Trent at center, Orlando at guard, Mims at fullback and gave a direct handoff to Moss up the gut, is there anything outside the MCU that could stop that?

    Our Guards are little tho !! Cappa is only 310 . Should of snatched Cooper Bebe up at 335 -345 . He could of automatically came in won a G spot over Cappa or Volson . I do think Volson will take a leap this year !! Cappa has regressed in my opinion !!

    I'm quite the optimist but I'm trying to remember the last time the Bengals developed an Offensive Lineman. Even high picks. Price, Ogbuehi, Fisher, Carman, Williams... all underperformed compared to expectations. We have had to go buy other team's guys. That being said - Mims is a specimen. Hopefully they can grow the talent.

    No excuses for pollack. If he doesn’t get this line to protect Joe this year he needs to go. I’m surprised they brought him back this year. But being canned a second time by same team would look bad on the front office.

    Dave would be a much better O line coach than Pollack. Dave do you have any push with them moving on from him? Our O line is always ranked towards the bottom under Pollack.

  • @garygreen9115
    @garygreen9115 Месяц назад

    Burrow's health and protection is number 1 and yet we have this for an OL coach. His record is terrible. I think he plans games well enough but then cannot adjust to changing DL schemes. HIs long time players also do not seemingly improve. The Bengals FO need to see that the issue is Pollack.

    It is a foolishly inept decision to leave this entire teams season on frank pollacks desk. Frank has had 5 years to prove where he belongs, and it is not here. Rhe dact that they would invest so greatly in an amazing young talent just to ler Frank get ahold of him? Like what does Pollack even do rhat we see a regression of every player every year no matter who they bring in? Like seriously, I wonder if pollack is spraying the whole oline down with grease? Stints, blitzes, run blocking standard pass protection, double teamsz Communication, you watch the tape Dave. This is the worst line in football 3 years running.. It absolutely can not continue. It's a doomed season from the start because of one man and that's Frank minor league Pollack. Go watch a play from last year. Any play. Tell me how long it takes before all 5 lineman are facing a random direction trying to dovert a guy who already beat them. It's every play, immediately. No other line looks like that on any play. There is not another team that will have 5 lineman lose on MOST plays. It has to stop.

      Obv I have zero respect for frank pollack. He has the easiest job in the world because he can do nothing and never will ever face consequences for being terrible at what he does. He is the Donald Trump of coaches.

    Not a fan of Pollack right now. NOT ONE SINGLE DRAFTED OL for Cincy has become a quality starter over the past DECADE. He couldn't coach up Ogbuehi, Fisher, or Price and they had to leave, three high (1st, 2nd round) picks wasted. And nobody afterward has panned out either. For an OL guru, he's not doing any guru-ing. We had to go out and buy ourselves an OL in FA. And even they aren't ranking very high as a unit. Whatever good Pollack did in the past, he's not doing much of it now.

  • @ca9495

    Pollack is NOT a good O-Line coach. Why is there so much loyalty to this clown? Every season the O-Line underperforms. They are promoting mediocrity.

    • @chrisw647
      @chrisw647 Месяц назад

      Mediocrity is all they've given him to work with. Jackson Carman was the highest pick they gave him since he's been here until Mims. Yeah, they've just showered that OL room with draft talent lol. Jonah Williams was given to Pollack via Zac Taylor's previous OL coach, the one related to Zac's wife
