    Thank you. This is the best video I found on the subject, and this is the method I chose. No other video I watched seemed to even consider the negative impacts of using water or inadvertently softening the parts of the glove you want to remain stiff. I've been breaking in four gloves over the past week and it's still a work in progress.

    You can steam a glove. I would recommend glove Steam for no more than one minute and half twice. It’s a short cut, but you still have to play catch with the glove for about a week to form the pocket. You want to keep a ball in your glove when you’re not using it, rather than to stuff it away in your equipment bag. You’re going to form the pocket from the force of catching the ball in the pocket. But, you can steam a glove. For a very short duration anything over one minute thirty seconds and you’re probably going to run the risk of damaging the glove or the glove breaking down more quickly than usual, especially with a top of the line glove like the A2000. Also, you run the risk of the color dye of the glove starting to run a little bit if you over steam your glove. You can always steam your glove again but just for a very short duration and not over a minute and a half in the steamer. If you steam the glove for a longer duration of four or five minutes than you run the risk of hardening the leather and it will turn out as he described in the video with a floppy pocket. That isn’t what you want especially for a top of the line glove. But, you have to play catch with the glove for at least one week to properly break in your glove.

    Good video ..
    1 question. I'm an old guy. I HAVE NOTICED THAT KIDS NOW ARE BREAKING IN THEIR GLOVES AND I THINK YOU CALLED IT FLARING THE THUMB AND PINKY??? WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT THEIR GLOVE TO LOOK LIKE THAT BUT EVEN WORSE TO WORK LIKE THAT? IT LOOKS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS AND SEEMS TO MAKE THE POCKET NAROW AND SHALLOWER?
    I HAVE ALWAYS BENT THE THUMB IN AND PUSHED THE FINGERS DOWN TOWARDS THE HEEL OF THE GLOVE.
    THIS CREATES A DEEP POCKET AND A BOWL/SCOOP SHAPED GLOVE . IF A BALL HITS ANYWHERE ORHER THAN THE POCKET . THE SHAPE OF THE SCOOP AND THUMB BENT IN WILL FUNNEL BALLS TOWARD THE POCKET.
    FLARED OUT PINKY AND THUMB WILL LET THE BALL WORK AWAY FROM THE POCKET??
    AGAIN EVEN IF SOMEONE COULD EXPLAIN TO ME WHY FLARING THE THUMB AND PINKY OUT MAKES THE GLOVE WORK BETTER. I STILL WOULD NEVER BREAK MY GLOVE IN THAT WAY.. BECAUSE IT LOOKS LAME AS SHIT!! BUSH LEAUGE FLARING PINKY AND THUMB..

    • @mdsmith1019
      @mdsmith1019 2 года назад

      I believe the one vs 2 break points is a choice you make in how you break the glove in. I think a lot of glove content creators prefer 2 break points but my kids naturally gravitate toward one hinge/break due to lack of hand size and strength.
