Something my dog and I are working on now is the one where she would put her head up more toward my stomach and her body along my legs that’s taking us a while and it’s kind of like starting over again like you said but I do think doing DPT across my lap first is helpful. I would love any advice or tips you have on teaching a modified cover/light pressure therapy when you’re say sitting in the chair and you want your dog to put their head on your lap or the front part of there body up across your knees.
Thank you for the kind comment! I did not intentionally teach Moose LPT (putting his head on my lap). He did it by himself and I shaped it by rewarding when he did it. If your sd randomly does it, I would take that opportunity and reward! If it doesn't happen organically, I would try luring their head to your lap while you're sitting. You can reward at first for putting their head over your lap but then start working towards only rewarding once they put the weight of their head on your lap. Again, I never trained it with Moose but that's what I would do if I had to go through the process. Kind of the same thing for putting their front body on your lap--luring at first. I think I had to pat my legs too at first and talk very encouragingly to Moose but once he hopped up the first time, he got the hang of it and loved doing it! I

Where should the dog lay?
Would you have a separate command for full body DPT (if you use it) or would you use the same one for both?
I used the same command for both but would motion across my lap or up my body to guide how I wanted Moose to lay on me
