      According to the visual differences all were using and seeing in the market is fake cinnamon...
      I've never seen cinnamon as described as original one..
      Question is how to test for identifying fake from real cinnamon.
      Once i saw a Cardiovascular tonic in a pharmacy at Dubai Duty Free, when i checked its contents it was purely Cinnamon.
      Dubai government is very strict in ensuring no fake items are sold, the cinnamon that i git from there is physically like the one marked as 'fake.., cannot identify which is the right one unless there is some specific method...
      According to what he says by colour and hardness, all the cinnamon in indian market I've seen comes under the fake category.....impossible....

  • @vickieturner8688
    @vickieturner8688 3 года назад +13

    YES! There is a distinct difference in taste, as well! A few years ago, testing was done on the cinnamon being sold in the markets. A VERY high percentage of the cinnamon on the market was determined to be saw dust mixed with cinnamon flavoring! It is SHAMEFUL what they have done to our food supply!

    For everyone reading... there is nothing called fake and real cinnamon, there are multiple types of cinnamon that comes from different regions, but there two main ones Ceylon and Cassia neither of them is fake, there are different grades of ceylon cinnamon but they all come from Sri Lanka, Ceylon is healthier and better for your body if you consume cinnamon in large doses due to its low oil levels but you should know that it doesn't taste better for your food or baked goods in anyway... On the other hand there is Cassia cinnamon which is sometimes called Chinese cinnamon and it is REAL ( they take from a certain type of tree barks) cinnamon and it tastes much better for food and baked goods, also Cassia has different kinds of cinnamon that comes from different parts of the world and they all taste differently there is: Korintje ( Indonesian ) cinnamon / Indian Cinnamon / Chinese / Saigon ( Vietnamese ) Cinnamon and the are all natural and real SIMPLY Ceylon is for medicine health Cassia is for good taste cooking and baking... by the way the tastiest cinnamon is Saigon and the highest quality it taste very spicy and sweet unlike other the types of cinnamon and please you are a Doctor, you should know what you are talking about they are all cinnamon like we have red berries and blue berries, red grapes and green grapes

      Gosh - I hadn't heard that about Metformin - that's fascinating. I stumbled upon a vid discussing a long term research study currently being conducted into Metformin,as it exists,and it's potential for use as a dementia prevention or halting . (paraphrasing) ... it's been found to aid regeneration of certain cells in the brain that have always been thought have degenerated permanently in dementia patients . If there is a cinnamon component to the drug , that's even more remarkable . 💕

    I have taken the regular Indian grocery store bought cinnamon (cassia) - about a teaspoon a day with honey, turmeric etc. for over eight years and from my view point it has done very well for me. I am 55+ and have not suffered from any of its side effects stated in this video and my recent ALT (liver function/disease) test results looks good. From what I have read, except for the levels of coumarin and its potential toxicity, there is very little difference in the overall health benefits between cassia cinnamon and the ceylon cinnamon. Characterization as real and fake cinnamon seems too strong. The negative publicity of cassia seems to me as a marketing gimmick to force people to spend money on the more expensive version. I rather have people use cassia, as ceylon is not widely available nor affordable, to realize the heath benefits of cinnamon.

    Most of the studies done so far on cinnamon’s blood sugar lower effects have been done with “fake” cinnamon. One study determined that it is the unhealthy toxic compound in the fake cinnamon that accounts for its effectiveness whereas the real cinnamon tastes good and is safer to consume in large amounts but has no significant health benefit. The key is to use the cassia or common cinnamon in moderation.

    Ceylonese cinnamon has a much milder taste than the Saigon "cinnamon." Many people don't think Ceylon cinnamon tastes very much like cinnamon. A little research indicates that the unhealthy effects of the cassia (Saigon cinnamon) come about when there is frequent use of large amounts. Some nutritionists I've found online only support Ceylon cinnamon for diabetics.
