Hi Jon! Thanks for helping me on my little quest of learning to use key shortcuts in Windows. One small suggestion would be to have separate videos for the windows and mac computers. I expect most people to have one or the other, so having two videos would allow them to select the one that is relevant to them.
Thank you so much :) :D. It was fun to learn. Plus you have told some basic stuff also, I have seen the Windows part mainly but you would have done that all throughout the video, which will definitely be helpful for or to a lot of people. :) Was fun to learn this hehe.
i have a problem can you help me... so basically lemme explain imagine i have opened an app and maximised, I have opened another app not in full screen so when I move me pointer to the full screen app, it just simply minimizes the other app. I didn't clicked the full app but still
Hi Jon.. Happy New Year and thanks for kicking off 2019 with a useful video. These tips are super handy, especially when working with the VBE and stepping through or debugging code. Thanks and Thumbs up!
Hi John, This video was very help. Would you happen to know how to run a powerpoint presentation on a Mac on a secondary screen while working in another application? Everything I have tried stops the presentation whenever you click into another application. VERY frustrating! I even tried your split screen to see if it would allow me to toggle between applications and it always stops the presentation. Thanks!
Thanks for the tips! It's really useful and now I dont need to keep working back and forth between workbooks. Just a question. When I click command tab in mac, it showed current apps to flip instead of the workbooks. I was opening a few workbooks at the same time. Am I the only one who has the problem?
Hey Sarah, Great question! The keyboard shortcut to flip between workbooks on the Mac is Command+` (that is the back quote/tilde key located above the Tab key). This works on other programs that allow you to open multiple file windows at the same time. That behavior is a bit different from Windows. On Windows you can use Alt+Tab to cycle through all open windows. On the Mac you use Cmd+Tab to cycle applications and Cmd+` for windows within the application. I should have mentioned that in the video. Thanks again for the question! :-)
It's not working for me. I have Windows10 and Microsoft office 365. I have 2 excel files open, I mdrag one file to the left but do not see any options to select other side.
Thanks for the tips! When in split view on my Mac I would like to see the top bar of my window. I do a lot within a browser window and would like to be able to click on a different tab in one of my split screen views. When I enter split screen mode it automatically "full-screens" the split. I hope that makes sense!
Thanks Irviantanto! Yes, the split screen view is available in Windows 7. It works similar where you can drag a window to the right/left side. However, I don't believe you get the preview tiles for the window on the opposite side. You have to drag the other window to the opposite side as well. The Win+Left/Right Arrow keys also work in Windows 7. I hope that helps.
Thank you John! The video is fantastic!! A little question, I find I can’t adjust the split screen (resize automatically) in Windows 7... is that something I missed doing?
How do I work on 2 split screens without one screen automatically minimizing to the bottom task bar when i click my curser on the other screen??? PLEASE help!
when I split-screen two windows and then put the cursor in middle to adjust one window to be bigger, it doesn't come up with the grey/black bar? so when I adjust one tab it just overlaps the other without having that sync?
Yeah the SDI (single document interface) can take some getting used to, and there are definitely pros & cons of each. I missed the MDI too when I first switched from 2010, but have gotten used to it now. I didn't mention some of the View tab features within Excel in this video because they don't work as well with the SDI in Excel 2013+. I'll do a followup video on those because there are some useful features like New Window and Synchronous Scrolling. Thanks Eko!
Just what I have been searching for. Thank you!
I kept googling "task view short-cut" it leads me to create virtual window.. but 3:13 saves me, and the key word "task view split"... Thank you...
Glad it helped! 😀

Can you use split screen with Word and Adobe like you are doing with Excel?

Hi John! Thank you very much for your great video tutorial. Is this method can implemented for Win7? If not, how its work for Win 7.

To get out of split mode in Mac, just press the ESC key.
How do I use slit screen with 3 screens on my MacBook Pro? One of the screen is a PP Presentation, which I want to display on an extended monitor.?
I was able to accomplish the split view but now when the file opens it goes right to split view. How to I undo that?
Thank you John! The video is fantastic!!

CMD + TAB ITS NOT WORKING ON MAC TO SWTICH BETWEEN VBA EDITOR AND EXCEL, IS THERE ANY OTHER KEYS TO SWITCH BETWEEN THEM?

same here.. i'm literally here to find a solution to that.. works perfectly on my laptop tho..
Is there a way to maximize a window and when you minimize it goes back to its side of the screen? I always ahve to reposition it which is annoying
How can i control multiple windows from one window ??
I miss MDI on excel, too bad they change it to SDI
