I was wondering if anyone else was going to say that about the F1.8 version. I have it as well. MAN !!!! The Tones particularly in monochrome are magic. Shades of grey ! I just purchased the autofocus 105mm F1.4 and it’s astounding so I haven’t used 1.8 lately but I need to. It’s dreamy wide open with great bokeh. There is an elegance to the images it produces that the 105 f1.4 does not have. There is magic to the ais 105 both in the F2.5 and F1.8 versions.
@@johndaubney7311 yep except autofocus I don t know if the f1.4 which is 3 Times the price on second market of the f1.8 ( new the f1.4 price is insane…) deserve this price delta… but the 2 are excellent in optical quality.
@@ZWadePhoto The 105 f 2.5 iconic due to a single photo but the f1.8 can also take picture of young afghan girl don t worry :). Note also that I also regularly use the previous version of the 105mm (no rubber all in metal & converted AI) on my Zf and it is great. The retro look of this lens is perfect with this body and it s already sharp. The optic formula of all Nikons 105mm is excellent and this is the secret.
@@philmtx3fr well, i’m sure it’s great. But this lens isn’t only well regarded because of that photograph. we disagree there. The optical formula is what made the lens a classic and what it is. It’s just on iteration of a line of bodies filled with the exact or very similar optical structure 🤙 thanks for watching
@@javierRcastro as far as I know a regular FTZ adapter. But you won’t get and aperture data you’ll just have to look at the aperture ring to see what you’re on .
Don't have it but still searching. Nikon made some legendary glass back then. Maybe the 55mm f2.8 Ais in a next video? A benchmark for sharpness this lens.
Hell yeah! I am the happy owner of one of these and it is the best glass I have ever owned. Every shot is sharp and magical.

Have one also. Definitely a special lens. Colors are just incredible! Nice to see others still appreciate this lens.
@@richardwojtczak5521 gotta love the classics
This is still one of my favorite lenses.
@@johnw.3636 it’s classic awesomeness
@ZWadePhoto I have it and the 200 f4 AIS. I had the 135 2.8 AIS, but I stupidly sold it. 🤦🏽♂️
I have two versions of this lens; the AIS and a 1971 pre-AI Nikkor-P. Slightly different in their output but both fantastic optics.
Absolute classic
It s good , light , short but the f1.8 is even better :).
@@philmtx3fr I just googled, did not know there was a 1.8 Ai-s. It rare for me to know be aware of a Nikon lens haba

I can't see that it is better than Nikkor 105mm f/2 DC, but I have not much experience. What do you think? I love my 105mm f/2 DC
@@dantes9811 oh I’m sure the 105 F/2 is better in a lot of ways. Definitely more unique with the DC function.
I have the older version but still love it. I need to find more excuses to use it!
You need excuses for me of why you’re NOT using it!!!
So what adapter do I need to mount the ai version on my ZF?
