Tinted (or photochromic) with or without flash is definitely the way to go. 40% does indeed seem to be a sweet spot. I look forward to more angular frames and hope your predictions are correct. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Best eyewear content on the Internet. Absolutely agree!! Blue vs sapphire mirrors . I have never understood the difference. Which is the most common choice among your customers?
Thank you. Sapphire is Zeiss' name for their blue flash coating. There are subtle differences across brands hence they have specific names. Good question - I'd say Ruby (pink/red) is the most popular choice since we recommend it a lot.
I going to jump on the tinted train this year. I had 2 pair I brought late in Dec, my wife took one and my daughter the other. So I guess I am on the right path. Those Chole frames look great.
Yes, we offer all of these brands and best of all is that we ship WORLDWIDE for free! Drop us an email at hello@thespectaclefactory.com and we'll help you get your perfect pair!
Hi Robert I am looking at a frame like the katla - I am looking at 25% gradient blue. Wanted to know your thoughts for amber flash on blue tint since I haven't seen that combo on your channel yet, or if another flash would pair better. Thanks !
Hi Robert, happy 2023 ! In addition to trends in shape and finish, do you think the eyewear industry may progress as a whole in terms of manufacturing and distribution ? I think in some time, not very far from now, The Spectacle Factory could have a 3D printer installed producing custom made frames chosen by clients, according to their taste and measures, and with licensed designs from the different manufacturers. What is your reaction to this scenario ?
That is something I actually thought of, and fully explored. But I just couldn't get companies out there to partner with me at the time. Maybe I'll look at it again sometime soon
Looking at the economics of this market it should make sense to disrupt the current business model, with huge amounts of frames accumulated along the rather pulverized retail distribution - and even so often not being able to provide the ideal product for each consumer. Much more efficient to have frame brands designing products and the production decentralized w/o compromising product quality. It already happened with the editorial business (in recent years disrupted again by e-books) and I'm pretty sure that in a not very distant future it may happen in your field. The Luxottica model of high volume distributed along the distribution channels putting pressure on retailers to get rid of their inventories deserves to be reversed, changing the main business development driver from the pressure of the manufacturer to the requirements of consumers.
Can you comment on the quality of Paul Smith eyewear? Recently bought a pair of Barton Perreira and Cutler and Gross because of your videos. Love the info! Thanks!
Yes, because I viewed the new collection just yesterday! I thought the quality was very good - close to C&G. I also liked the bold acetate styles although I felt the metal pieces were a little over priced. PS and C&G are made in the same factory and it shows
Hi really like what you are doing on RUclips. Have learned alot about eyewear from your videos. I wear a pair of Nike 7068 frames daily that are not made anymore but I do need to get a new pair. Are you able to advise. The ones I have are really strong and well made that have lasted 4+ years with daily wear at work but the newer Nike frames I have seen seem really flimsy.
Thanks Andy. Based on the shape and size of the 7068, the Blake by Barton Perreira, the Byron by Walter & Herbert, and the McLaren 3D printed Graphite frames come to mind. But obviously it's been 4 years, and probably time for a restyle. We can help you with that if you want to email us and/or book a video consultation - hello@thespectaclefactory.com
I'm purchasing some Mykita Moss/Sage Green Aviators (Don is the model). Do you have any suggestions for the tint? I'm leaning toward the xtractive transitions, which retain a little tint when "clear",
It would be beneficial if they would reference the entire width of the frame from temple to temple. It's more important to me if the frame will fit my face than the size of the lens and bridge. Also the height of the lens should be included.
They have been closed for a month as many European companies do tend to close over the month of August. But they are available through us and we ship internationally - just e-mail us if you're interested hello@thespectaclefactory.com
Yeah, I'd recommend to widen the nose pads and move them back away from the frame, this will lower the frame and move it further from your face. Obviously an optician needs to do this for you 👍
Do you think a blue tint with sapphire photo chromic and/ or flash coating on a Barton domino in matte midnight is too much blue?? Do you have any suggestions?
No, because the matte midnight is not especially blue, so it will actually bring out the blue in the frame. We made a pair exactly as you described last year and it was perfect. And we can make them for you if you like as well 😄
Hi, i want to ask if it's normal for a boy to wear eyeglasses with a golden frame because i want to change mine but i'm afraid that this type of color are belong to girls
I like watching your videos, those JF Rey frames looked like something a student had produced in order to try to impress someone, awful design. When trying on the frames, could you keep them on a few seconds longer, and maybe turn your head to see a profile or part profile to see the style more fully. Nice presentation. When looking at the style of frames often the only visual differentiating factor appears to be the designer name, Rather like the Emperor’s clothes.
U can have great glasses a great hair cut to match the beard an a great fragrance an great suit but if ur teeth look like beetlejuice u gotta fix ur priorities brother no offense .
@@thespectaclefactory Not one that produces 'echo' in the original video. That came with what you posted. So, let me ask you. . . what location did you record this video in? @@carrolann8074 Not 'rude', helpful and honest. I've been on sets where 'Audio' has been fired for less. I have nothing bad to say about their product. I wish them well. Just, in future, have a video that has sound that doesn't distract from their message.
I'm in love with those 3D printed JF Rey glasses! I need them!
definitely something im gonna have in the future. they are a bomb!
Incredible, aren't they?
The Morel round pair is awesome.
The 3D printing method is turning out beautiful eyewear.
The tinting in blue is amazing.
Agreed. I still can't believe that Morel pair wasn't more popular!

Good idea, thanks. But you can always arrange a consultation to discuss your high prescription with us

The 40% blue tint is beautiful and the gold makes it pop 😎
Thanks! I thought that was a beautiful combination!
These trends are so exciting for 2023🎉. Your ideas are amazing 😻
The 3D printed McLaren or JFREY with an amazing tint would be so cool 😊
Yep! I've got my eyes on those too 👀
I don’t know why I keep watching your videos. None of these awesome glasses are available near me. 🤷🏻♂️
People order them or visit us from us from all over the world! We do video consultations with clients all the time
Definitely great information from him. And they do amazing work. Have gotten 4 pairs from them.
Lol me either he's gonna have me with 50 pairs of glasses haha. Which is fine.

I ordered from GAST, the MENTE in matte black. Super excited, not used to thick frames
Nice! Hope you love them

Hey Robert, happy new year!
What do you think about Police frames, are they good quality for the money?
Thank you.
They are pretty good, for the price! I loved the Lewis Hamilton collection, way better than the regular Police frames
I'm purchasing some Mykita Moss/Sage Green Aviators (Don is the model). Do you have any suggestions for the tint? I'm leaning toward the xtractive transitions, which retain a little tint when "clear",
Cool frame. Go for Xtractive graphite green IMO, + a silver flash coating if you like

Dies Gast's Cobia come in shades other than pure black, Robert?
Hi, did you say 20% gradient or gray tint with a sapphire flash coating?
Hi, was that on the Cartier? In which case, 20% solid.
