  • "The Final Shot" - an original song performed live in one take. Synth Pop, Rock, Art Rock, EDM, Electronic Music, genre? A song about ending a 15 year quest to write symphonic music with synth sound modules like the Roland U-220, the EMU Virtuoso2000, the Proteus Orchestral.
In the song "The Final Shot" I perform my best impression of a saxophone using keyboard articulations and the pitch bender. Kind of a tribute to the skills I acquired over 20 years of trying to make acoustic sampled instruments come alive. But this is my final shot and will not be doing much soloing of sampled instruments anymore.
From about 1988 to 2003 I was trying to "fool" people into thinking they are listening to a symphony of musicians. I decided it wasn't good music, or listenable and ended it. Using synth sound design to create instruments was much interesting and creative, and have been on this quest up until now 2024, and will continue.
Original sound design on the Gaia, and beats/sound on the Electribe2 Blue. Sax is a preset sample.
Keeping with the current theme of inexpensive synths, maybe your first synth to explore your own music universe. All the synths in this video are out of production now, but today we have so many more choices for a $500 limit in budget. Make sure your first keyboard has MIDI output connections so you can take advantage of cheap synths like the Roland Boutique series that sound like a million bucks for $300 to $400.
