Deanna, if you’re looking for a mini die cutter, the Sizzix Sidekick is a workhorse. I’ve had no issue with it. One thing, don’t use shims, it will break the machine, ask me how I know 😉. I’m currently on my second one and being much more respectful with it! So sorry to hear about your husband. Covid is in the upswing, we all have to be careful. Might be a good idea for you to take a test too, just to know and get the meds. The earlier you get it, the better. Sending hugs and prayers to you!

I got covid in January of 2022. Never felt like I got rid of it. In April thought I had it again but all tests were negative. I was diagnosed with Long Haul Covid. Not fun! I am surviving but come down with it so easily. Thank goodness it is not contagious and they have some ideas to make it easier on a person!!! 💜💜💜💜💜
I just watched a vid. by VianneyCreates on utube who talked about the same issue and she told how she was able to fix the issue she was having (she had the lilac one). I don't own a scout but thought I would let you know. I do have the diamond press one another person talked and I also love it (HSN).
I’m so sad about what Michaels did with their 110lb cardstock. It was my favorite for card bases and die cutting. The dove white is still okay but the white has a weird texture to it and it doesn’t ink blend or die cut well.
I think Michael’s just carries a lower stock in store. They aren’t going anywhere, they are constantly the seasonal favorite for decorating. Hope you don’t get sick!
Deanna, I'll be praying for you and your husband! Take care of both of you! I've been working non stop on my Fall County Fair...9 days of selling! This month has been dedicated to finishing up various projects that are sitting around, including some lacy aprons! Today I made a black and cream ticking stripe apron for my hubby to wear to the Fair. He loves it! I cut out more, but be gets the sewing sample! Also, I recently bought a Silhouette machine! We have 2 cases of glass blocks that we will make Lights with and vinyl them. I was going to get the Cricut Joy Extra, but decided to make a bigger investment purchase. Learning curve!!! Anyway, get some Theraflu and drink lot's of herbal tea. Use your oil infuser if you have one to purify your air. When I caught it, We had just travelled to Arizona and I was sick there! Love you!

Michaels hasn’t been the same since Covid. I think they will be going out soon. The paper is very disappointing. They used to get in more seasonal paper pads….it’s awful now.
I have the mini die cut machine from Stampin Up, it’s made by Spellbinders’s. (Pretty much the same machine). It does the exact same thing. I did figure out a totally different sandwich but I shouldn’t have to. I rarely use it.
I have the SU mini one and use it a lot and have had no issue. I make cards and love having a mini one easy access on my desk. I may be using a different sandwich than what they recommend. But I have been using these machines for so long I guess I don't always pay attention to the specific instructions. But your right if the instructions are bad they need to fix that! Especially for people new to these machines!
My Michaels did not have any sale I paper when I went. So I guess I will have to check that out. And please return that machine.!❤ hope Mr crafty starts to feel better soon!

Now I'm wondering about my Michaels. I haven't been there for a while as it is about 45 min away. But I'm hoping they don't close. It's in a larger town, and there are other towns in that area. Maybe that will help keep them open. I love their solid cardstock, too! I just received the white Scout from Spellbinders yesterday. It was struggling as well. I finally got the plates and all to go through. But it also was making a low rubbing sound. I didn't have much time to play with it. But I plan to do so today. It makes me wonder if they didn't get all the kinks worked out before placing it on the market. And if that's true, that sucks! I have the Sidekick, and I love it so much...that I bought a second one to have on hand a few months ago. The reason I purchased the Scout is for the wider opening and longer platform. Just curious as to what weight the cardstock was that you were using? I had a similar issue with my scout, the 110# cardstock would not go through, switched to 80# cardstock and it worked. Tried a 90# weight, it was tough but then went through.

I don't know what's going on with their paper craft section. I get stuff over the internet now. Tired of wasting my gas and there's nothing on the shelves at the store.
Deanna, I just watched someone else who had the same problem with her Scout. She used a paper towel to wash extra production oil off of the rollers and it started to work. Maybe that could be your problem also.
It's that they're trying to do away with a lot of the stores that they plan to close. So they're trying to minimize as to which door would get more. That sells more. That's what my girlfriend told me. Because she said she has a friend that works for them morning. Michael's and she has another friend. In Joan's. They're trying to see where they need to eliminate and which doors they plan to close. That's not doing well business wise. That's what I heard.
I am sad you cannot use the die cutter. It may be a manufacturing defect; I hope they help you return it. I tested positive for Covid a couple weeks ago; just as I was feeling better, my husband tested positive. Thankfully, nowhere near as bad as years ago when we had it. Thank you for sharing all your goodies! I hope they are not doing away with the papers at MIchaels; I do know the store by me has drastically reduced the papercraft section, which stinks because we used to have a Hobby Lobby nearby as well, but they closed years ago. The little blank books are adorable!

I have one by Stampin Up and I hate it. It's all in where you place the die on the plate and how you place the plate in the machine. The top plate can't be too far up, the die cannot be placed at the front of the plate, it's a pain in my butt. It works but it's not a smooth operation. I will keep it, but not encourage anyone to buy one.

They had to move the store a little further down the street to a smaller place and it is still always empty. I agree with you, I love Recollection paper. I have the mini empress by Anna Griffin and love it! I've had it for a year and haven't had to replace any plates yet! They don't warp like all the other machines I have. The compact size is just right. Praying you don't have Covid, and for your husband to get better soon. The headache is how mine started, I knew it was COVID because I never get headaches. I've only had Covid once and hope I don't get it again.

I've seen quite a few complaints about the Scout. Spellbinders isn't very responsive to people about their issues.

I don’t like spellbinders customer service. My die cutting machine doesn’t work and they did nothing about it. 😢
Same story in Michael's in Colorado. I did notice they'd also put paper stacks from other companies in a different section.
Gemini has a small hand crank machine. It is terrific. I use mine all the time. I also have the big electric one. Gemini by Crafters Companion.

I noticed the shimmer and foil cardstock on clearance at Michael’s and I wasn’t happy!!!
When I bought my big shot I had the same problem. Had to return it. For a small one I love my sidekick.
