- One of this year's breakout independent movies is "Brittany Runs A Marathon," which Amazon bought for $14 million. The film won the audience award in the U.S. drama category at Sundance this year. Jillian Bell stars as Brittany, a 20-something New Yorker, who tries to get her life together by taking up running after a rude awakening at the doctor's office. Bell, who is also an executive producer of the film, joins "CBS This Morning" to discuss the new movie Variety called "a "whip-smart comedy" with "real emotional depth."

I was expecting nothing and got everything! The amount of diversity in this movie gives you enough energy to run a marathon hehe. It's real. Like so real its freaky. But it's also funny and just amazing. The characters are complex struggling lost losing winning and fighting. So freaking amazing!
Awesome movie. It could have gone down the path of a cliche, cheesy movie, but Jillian elevated the material and the writing was top-notch.

Awesome! I met her at a comedy club when I was a teenager my dad took time to... she was really nice and took a picture with me and talked for a minute, got the sense she didn’t have that “celebrity ego “ Type of attitude. It was pretty awesome. I’m happy you got this movie deal goin Jillian!

Great movie! I've watched it several times, and it's inspiring every time I see it.
I saw this movie opening night. While it was a little cliche, I really enjoyed it. Even just thinking about it, makes me want to cry.
Jillian Bell should play Martha Stewart(she looks just like her!) in 'Martha's Bad Thing' ...a movie I just imagined where MS throws in the towel, fakes her own death, and escapes to a tiny town in Kentucky, where nobody's ever heard of her, and she just wants to eat junk food and be 'regular'... but she doesn't fit in and by the time she wants her life back, nobody will believe she's Martha because they already had her funeral.
They interrupted her so much

I watched this before my first Ultramarathon - I skipped right over the marathon and went straight to the 50k, because apparently I'm crazy! 😂 It was an incredible experience to watch this while leading up to such an impossible thing, having always been the Fat One in my groups. She's right, it was a good reminder that we Deserve Better. I cried a lot. Both during the movie and during my race lol

I was disappointed that I didn’t get a chance to see this when it was in theaters because I really wanted to see it. Well, it’s now available on Amazon Prime Video and I was happy to get a chance to see it.
I won’t go so far as to say it’s awful but it just reinforced why I haven’t been out to the movies in ages. There really isn’t much of quality worth pulling your clothes on and going out for.
I applaud the fact that they tried something original and different, meaning it’s not a sequel to a previous film, a remake of a previous film, a superhero movie or some combination of all three. But, it just wasn’t really funny. The jokes were mildly funny, at best. It’s sad when you realize that all the best bits were in the trailer and you’ve already seen that. Overall, I just found it pretty lackluster.
Maybe you missed the point if you expected a comedy. It was a lighthearted drama. She used jokes and being silly as a coping mechanism. Once that was established in the first 25 mins, any silliness went away.
