    Sounds good, I have obsessed over playing every speaker with my superlead plexi s. I find my favorite are greenbacks at 25 watts. I like most checkered 4x12 but prefer basketweave. I had a 1966 pinstripe 4x12 and got offered 5K for it but that was the best. The 2x12 cabs always seemed like it was missing something. Not as much headroom as a 4x12 cab.

    • @JimmyBurkard
      @JimmyBurkard  3 года назад +2

      25 watt Greenbacks are my fave. I used to have 2 basket weave straight cabs, great cabs and you’re right, 2x12’s leave something to be desired. They’re close but not quite there.

    • @sonnyseabury4051

      You read my mind, brother. Lmao. Greenbacks are my favorite speakers, as they always have been, especially when it comes to playing them through plexi and modded plexi amps, both being my favorite kind of amps, when it comes to Friedman and Metropoulos Modded Plexi Amps. The Greenbacks also pair up well, in a 4x12 speaker cabinet, with 2 greenbacks on top, and 2 vintage 30's on the bottom, like the standard 4x12 speaker cabinets that Dave Friedman sells. I've mentioned the same to Jimmy that you just did, several times. Take Care, Brother.

    Dazed and Confused :^D. You have your amp dialed with Bass 0 Middle Treble 10? I have an SLP and I have the Bass at 9 and the Mid and Treble at 3-4. Is there a science behind this?

    • @JimmyBurkard
      @JimmyBurkard  6 лет назад

      Don't no about a science to it but having the treble and mids up does add gain..

      So my response is 5 years late, but you know with a "plexi" style amp you gotta crank the volume way up to get the saturation you want, right? That's the whole purpose of this guy's master volume mod: so he can get that cranked sound without destroying his hearing or having the police show up at his door.

      Thanks Ryan! I think the MCP's are a little more chewy on the attack ( if that makes sense). They both use A5's. I had my HR59's switched to A2's because I wanted more early VH at the time. The A2's gave them a softer attack, then I went with the MCP's (I'm from the Motor City). I'm still using the HR59's in the neck positions of my LP's.

      Hi, I would have a PPIMV installed by a good tech. That helps a lot, it's not the same as cranking it up but it'll get you good low volume tone. That's the simple answer. You could also get a load box/attenuator, power amp or load box with speaker impulse responses (digital speakers). Salu!

      I don’t know anyone who plays with a Plexi’s Treble on 0. The tone of any Marshall doesn’t come out unless Treble and Mids are dialed in enough. They sound boomy and sledgy without them.
      He could maybe dial out a tad Presence but that’s all subjective.
