Choi Mujin never really wanted Jiwoo to die. Taeju attacked her out of loyalty for Mujin. But Mujin never wanted her dead.. what we have to understand about Mujin is that he really cared about Donghoon. It broke his heart that he was betrayed. You could see in Mujin's eyes how broken he felt as he killed Donghoon. So he took Jiwoo under his wing to save her from the streets And he raised her to be strong and have conviction. I think he's always sorta wanted her to be his punishment. He was filled with such regret and hurt that he kept the picture of him and her dad. A constant reminder of the man he loved and also to remind himself that he killed him... Mujin wanted Jiwoo to kill him. I think Mujin had a twisted sense of logic. But he definitely cared about Jiwoo and Donghoon. But either way he had to die because Jiwoo had to have her revenge. Great series and great reactions! Thank you for this one 😊
Omg I had similar thought about it. If you don't look at his character deep enough you could say he took in Jiwoo becouse he is evil, but if you listen in to his words you can understand that his actions are much more deeper than you initially thought. That's why I couldn't hate him even knowing what he did and even pitted him because of his broken view on everything.
When Jiwoo, and Pildo got it on. I was expecting him to be killed off. That troupe made sense. With Pildo bringing Jiwoo round to his way of thinking. Him being shot was inevitable at that point, to push Jiwoo back on the revenge wagon. I loved this series. Han So Hee is such a great actress. In fact, stellar performance from all the cast. Have you checked out 'Kingdom' or the Japanese series 'Alice in the Borderlands'. It's another good drama. It was fun watching your reaction to 'No Name'.
I'm so glad that you did feel their chemistry and weren't thrown off by the sex scene. So many people are "offended" by it saying it was out of place and unnecessary... I thought it made perfect sense that they ended up doing that, and I don't see how it's okay to show really violent and brutal scenes but not a sex scene that barely shows anything.
There's nothing wrong with the sex scene. It's the execution of the sex scene that people who were offended by it didn't notice. The tone of the TV show has been set early on and it deviated from that. Watch The Unfaithful and look how Diane Lane acts out a sex scene that involves lots of mixed emotions. It's the direction of the sex scene that was off.
@@denniszenanywhere Well, I didn't think it was off, so I can't really see it. The execution seemed fine to me. They had been bonding for quite some time, they were both lonely, and dealing with a high stress situation, which usually makes people do impulsive things. It seems like a natural development, and I think the actors made it look that way. But the comments I've seen were mostly about people being bothered by the fact that "Netflix is corrupting kdramas by including sex scenes", or "this is unnecessary porn and I can't recommend this drama to my family or friends". It was about the suggestion of nudity and sex. I can understand if some people thought it wasn't executed well, even though I don't see it; that's not what the majority of complaints I've read were saying, though.
@@rabotnemrac Well, that is a crazy reaction from them. That was so tame for a love scene. And that is what I thought was wrong about it. It has to have despair and pathos. I cannot really trust Korean shows to do it correctly. They have a lot to learn from French movies. :-)
@@denniszenanywhere I have to say I thought the execution/directing of the whole beach house scene was actually really well done. You could feel all the emotions of characters true excellence work from both actors captured. It wasn't pornographic and it gave at first sensation of seeing too much when actually we can't see nothing. The little touches. The nudity was in store to show both their scars and how this was a moment of their appreciating each other and those scars not matter anymore. On contrary, Jiwoo and Pildo liking each other while accepting their whole baggage along. You could see in their eyes, tears and touches. The tone was very necessary, like a missing piece needed to be added. It was a moment done exactly to contrast with the other Jiwoos we had seen on the show. A new part of her that she was permitting herself to be/live for the first time. And people who are offended, many missed completely the point of how a scene like that was needed by both characters and how beautiful was set and it was extremely well done compared how bed scenes are done in movies or in genres like that (Many others are just against bc are fans/shippers of the actress in another of her projects that has many bed scenes but actress wasn't topless - they weren't as deep and and meaningful as this one imo - so unfortunately I've seen some of jealously covered by as if offense)
@@denniszenanywhere in that I agree! It could have been more, maybe they even thought about it but in terms of sk standards, I think they found a midterm. At least still is a really beautiful and necessary scene.
Apparently the actor for Mujin and the actress for Jiwoo cried a LOT in their final fighting scene, but the director cut it all out. As for rec for next, I suggest Extracurricular (also on Netflix) - it's by the same director as My Name, and like My Name, is a VERY unconventional K-drama.
Mujin knew that there were no bullets in the gun from the beginning. He provoked Jiwoo and trained hard her, so that she could killing him herself. he's emotion was super complex love that can't be easily defined by one word, love between men and women. he was protecting and helping her get successd revenge It was the only way Mujin could expressed his love. For Dong-hoon's revenge, Mujin had to die in her hands. He made her come to him by killing Pildo, who weakened her resolution. and when Mujin died in her hands as first he planned, he was not betrayed by his beliefs for the first time in his life😭what's certain is that for Mujin, Jiwoo was a only person more precious than his life😭😭
it is true Moo Jin doesn't love Jiwoo, just a friend's daughter, but it's the love between a man and a woman. Ji Woo is the most important thing in Moo Jin's life.
Han So-Hee did a fantastic job in this series. I really want to see a second season but the show kinda fills most of the story. Han put 10kg of muscle, did her own stunts and ended up in the emergency room but she had no regrets.
I am still looking for the next show to binge after My Name... But it's hard to find a 'good' one since My Name is damn fricking good... Action scenes are fluid, clear, impacting, Han So Hee is so beautiful and her acting (all the cast too though) is really breathtaking. And the story is really good too. Now I feel so lonely without My Name :(
I am so glad han sohee got the chance to do a 180 with this show after nevertheless. she, along with shin Hye-sun, is probably one of the best actresses I've ever seen. this show was written insanely well and I was totally lost on what kdrama to watch next because it was so good. i cried almost as much as I did when I watched youth of may TTTTT
One of the (many) things I love about this series is that it flips the romanticised badassery of revenge driven stories on its head. Jiwoo has succeeded in her quest but what of it? She's broken beyond repair. All of the people she held close are gone, consumed by the pursuit of that goal in one way or another. The definition of "when you embark on the path of revenge, dig two graves". Mujin occupies a literal one, Jiwoo a metaphorical one.
DP is highly recommended! I think it needs more recognition. it's not as action-packed but has very good story and good message. i'd recommend watching it even if you're not making a reaction video for it
I recommend Inspector Koo but you can only do 2 episode a week atm. Mr Sunshine - most romantic k-drama with zero kissing.(setting of the story is based on korean history), Kingdom season 1, 2, and prequal. Hotel Del Luna - supernatural fantasy romance, My Mister - drama but relatable emotions, Prison Playbook and Hospital Playlist season 1,2. Signal. BUT next week Hellbound is coming out.
i remember being absolutely heartbroken over pil-do. i hadn't even realised i was attached to him right until that moment and even if deep down i was expecting it, i wasn't expecting it to be quite that brutal. (this was a wild introudciton to k-dramas for me. like, i'm pretty sure this was my frist k-drama. it was either this or business proposal, i think bp was my second drama tho.)
Okay since you're done with My Name. Can I suggest another great series called The Victims' Game on Netflix? Very good show. A second season is coming soon 💜
