I really appreciate being able to watch this. If possible, I would love to watch the full episode of Dave's World with Wink Martindale. I loved that show, sadly (as of now) season 4 was never released on DVD or streaming.
Outside of the fact that they clearly hired actors for this, I was impressed with this pilot. This being commissioned for Sony iirc, the prize budget was believable and the game was pretty engaging. Kinda makes me sad it didn't get picked up.
Not a bad pilot at all. Definitely incorporated the combination/safe theme much better than the Geoff Edwards “Safecrackers” pilot that was uploaded here about a year ago. Too bad this didn’t sell.
Interesting, a second pilot. And with the same teams as the first one, no less. Wonder why Marc didn't go this one. Ty was good, didn't realize how loud he was until I watched both pilots side by side. I just happen to like Marc better if I had to choose, just because... it's Marc. Rules... I guess the category choosing is better. But wow, between this and Joker, so much money being thrown around, even for '06/'07. This is why we love pilots. What budget?
I'm going to sound like a focus group, but here goes. Things I liked. Good host. He was personable. Good game play. It had a nice play along factor for home viewers. Things I didn't like. Female announcer. She introduced the show as if she were painting her fingernails at the same time. No excitement at all. It was a bad way to start the show with a person who sounds like they were half asleep. Next. Even though the game play was fun, I felt it a bit repetitive. After 11 or 12 minutes I would have liked to have seen a timer of some sort incorporated into game play. It felt like one long round for the entire show and I felt that it needed a little more variety. I started to doze. Then a female model/bank teller at the end to dial in the combination would have been a nice touch. That automated dial looked a bit cheap and not even accurate. It stopped on random numbers that didn't even match up with what was chosen. I think just a few small changes could have made a big difference. I rate this a solid 5 out 10. I've seen better. I've seen worse.
Okay. I've paused, at 3:08, to say, already, I like the game and, definitely, I'd have watched! I am unfamiliar with Mr. Treadway but, he seems quite engaging. I'm not sure the reason(test audiences?)this show failied to be picked up. Seems, quite entertaining, to me! "Twenty-five big ones, for Captain Kirk's personal, little asteroid." Yes, I am sold, on ths show and, its host. Just, completed viewing the bonus round, which turned out being anticlimactic. Knew them. Next one I'll check out: "The Game."
Ty did a great job hosting this, it's so wild seeing Combination Lock's history and this pilot is very fun!
I had a feeling the production logo was going to be left out of this one.

A little surprised to see Ty Treadway hosting, He was better here than Merv Griffin's crosswords.
Yeah... If only we knew who produced THIS show.
I know Marc Summers hosted some of the test episodes before the actual pilot came to be!
Yeah.
Ty to Rico: What do you plan on spending the money on? Rico to Ty: what? He is now deaf from Angel Screaming in his ear! 🤑
This game was used as one of the rounds on Italian Chain Reaction in 2007

When was this filmed? I was on Crosswords in 2007/2008 and this must be very close in time to that.

This should have sold
Interesting show. I wish this pilot would have sold.
Man this and TJW were awesome. Of course back then the economy wouldn't stand for this much winnings
$185,000!!!!
From the Wheel of Fortune set, another crummy game show pilot that didn’t make the air😂
Aren't you sweet! :D
There can be many reasons why pilots don't go any further. Not necessarily because it's a bad show.
@@marcpower4167what other reasons may I ask
How many game show pilots have you created and produced? 😂
