The all-new 2022 Honda Civic boasts a clean, modern design paired with a high-tech, human-centered interior, and equipped with advanced active and passive safety systems.
What's New:
All-new simple, clean exterior and interior styling
Civic first all-digital LCD instrument display (Touring)
Standard new 7-inch color touchscreen with Apple CarPlay® & Android Auto™ integration
Available new HD 9-inch color touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay® & Android Auto™ integration
Civic-first Bose premium sound system with 12 speakers (Touring)
Qi-compatible wireless charging (Touring)
Enhanced architecture and stronger body
More powerful and fuel-efficient 1.5-liter turbo engine
Updated suspension and steering tuning for improved handling and ride
Groundbreaking new front airbags designed to reduce traumatic brain and neck injuries
Civic-first rear seat side airbags
Updated Honda Sensing® system with new front wide-view camera, plus new Traffic Jam Assist and Low Speed Braking Control (Touring)
A “thin and light” body design with a low hood and front fenders, and a low horizontal beltline grounds the body, accentuates the wheels and tires, and enables an expansive, airy greenhouse. Inside, the M/M approach results in a strikingly simple, clean and modern take on classic Civic values. By evoking the uncluttered cabin design of early generations of Civic, the new model’s interior features exceptional visibility, intuitive ergonomics, extraordinary passenger volume and driver-focused technology.
LED lighting is used extensively for the exterior, including the wide-set headlights, daytime running lights, parking lights, and available fog lights.
The Civic Sedan will be available in eight exterior colors, three of which are new: Meteorite Gray Metallic, Sonic Gray Pearl and all-new Civic-exclusive Morning Mist Blue Metallic.
Human-Centered Interior Design
Honda’s outstanding interior packaging results in ample head, leg, shoulder and hip room for all passengers. A feeling of spaciousness is immediately felt and shared by all Civic occupants, thanks to the low, flat beltline and uncluttered design throughout its cabin.
The pulled-back A-pillars, low hood, flat dashboard and hidden windshield wipers enable a windshield with clearly defined corners for a panoramic view. The low cowl is the same height as the door sills for an uninterrupted and harmonious flow that extends from the dash all the way to the rear doors. The outside mirrors also have been positioned away from the windshield pillars to improve visibility.
Further improving visibility is the top of the Civic’s instrument panel, which has been designed with minimum cutlines to reduce windshield reflections and visual distractions.
A striking metal honeycomb mesh accent stretches from door to door across the dash. It serves both form and function, creating a dramatic visual dividing line between the audio, information displays and the climate controls, while the intricate flow-through design conceals the air vents that would otherwise mar the uncluttered and harmonious look of the dash.
High-quality materials are used throughout the interior, especially on touchpoints, with close attention paid to the operation of all switchgear and controls. Materials were also chosen with an eye toward practicality, such as the new premium center console trim specifically designed to hide fingerprints and smudges to help maintain a high-end appearance.
All Civic trims benefit from a new front seat design. Using Honda’s Body Stabilizing Seat approach, the new-generation seat frame firmly holds the body, enhancing comfort on long drives.
Civic Touring also debuts an all-new 9-inch color touchscreen, which builds upon the foundation laid by the Display Audio system in Honda models such as Accord, Odyssey, Pilot and Passport. The new touchscreen is the largest ever in any Honda-brand vehicle, and features a physical volume knob, large, easy-to-recognize icons, and a simplified navigation structure with fewer embedded menus. On the left are hard buttons for Home and Back functions.

Thank you for being one of the few reviewers who a actually review a base model
Power to the proletariat.
Aka, the future beater car.
@@samlung2724 15 years from now this gonna be the hooptie
Not so long ago the features in this Civic would have champed a Cadillac.
@@Carfan678 My 2009 civic is kicking the bucket year by year. It's so beater, its got paint ripping off. And to think there's a 2009 NEW VIDEO on youtube when everyone was raving about how futuristic it looked. I still like it though, for some reason this new civic actually look older almost late 90s like. Obviously the interior looks modern - but nothing ground breaking. I'll see if I can get my 2009 civic repaired, guess I'll hold off few more years for the next Gen Civic cause these new ones are well "mehh" both hatchback and even SI.
I know it has been said but I need to repeat. One of the reasons I LOVE this channel is the fact that he reviews all of the models, not just top trims.
Just bought the 2023 LX and it's crazy how hard it is to find a video or any review of the base model. I know this 22 has a lot of the same features so thank you for reviewing it. Most people just start at the sport level but for saving $1800 i'm happy with the LX. Even my salesman tried to tell me at first that the sport was the base model lol.
About time someone reviewed a base model
Thanks Mike
I bought this 2022 civic lx, its my first car and I absolutely love it! Mine is Meteoric grey with beige color interior.
Overall performance is really good! I am in love with this car :)
Hey, can I ask how the sound system is? with it being only 4 speakers?
@@armannasr3681 I just picked mine up today and the sounds is great. If you adjust the sound settings it has a really rich bass.
@@ashtonhoffer7692 I'm anti-bass. First thing I do always is put treble and bass to -6. Now I can hear crystal clear voices of singers.
We just ordered the same car. I buy for practicality and value. This car is great for the price.
@@caribbeanbound8357 Do you mind telling us how much you paid for yours?
One of the few reviewers who ACTUALLY REVIEWS ALL TRIMS. NOT JUST THE POPULAR TOURING MODELS.
JESUS CHRIST thank you!!! You earned a sub.
Really nice car, even in the base trim. I like how you look at all the trim levels on cars, not just the top end ones. Nice features for a "base" model. I think Honda did a nice job with this new generation of Civic. 👍
but they made it look like a mom car from thr outside
way too basic
@@Alex-yj9xl yeah alloys should be standard. its 2021 already
@@haziqhashim2618 should be cheaper with those wheels so that one can buy good alloys after buying the car
I only buy cars for their practicality and value for the dollar. This car is not awesome with styling but the base features and comfort are phenomenal. It drives pretty nice as well for a smaller car. I'm glad it doesn't have alloy wheels as those tend to leak or crack from time to time
As always, Mike and the Yellow Hand are the main attractions
The base model works awesome! I’ve had mine now since November and honestly is so smooth and very comfy inside even more so than the Honda Civic 2018 I use to have. Thanks for reviewing the base trim, it looks and feels nice plus if you know how to drive you don’t always need the fancy extras they try to sell you
What made you upgrade to a relatively new car?
Excellent video. Thanks for featuring a base model (that's very well equipped). You're one of the few RUclipsrs that will.
Actually just came from Honda today to ask about this. Definitely a good car. I was able to Test Drive the Sports version, but I plan on getting the LX. I would say that it handles pretty well, just every other car. Visibility is good, AC is good, gear shift is pretty good (not too hard nor soft), as well as the pedals. This will be my first car that I will actually own. While I definately driven better and older trucks/suv/cars, I would say that Civic 2022 is right for its price and a very good car for new car owners. You really dont need anything more, especially if youre only using it to go from point A to point B.
And it's also appealing too
Agreed. I've driven much more expensive cars and could afford a car at triple the cost, but I'd much rather get a great value that gets me from work to home and will last for at least a couple hundred thousand miles.
Haha the little finger pointer thing threw me off but really nice touch to point out stuff throughout the video.
happy to see that 2.0L NA and not the 1.5L turbo!
I hate turbos
This would be a great first new car for someone…..looks great, tons of standard features for the price
Ah! This is my first new car! I get it in a week
@@champagnecoloredeyes how is it?
I’d be happy with that base model
I think reviewers should review base models more often, they are always talking big, which sometimes doesn’t make any sense.
Thanks you for this video.
This 22' Honda Civic LX looks good in gray.
Good job with your reviews as always Mike.
I was waiting for this video for a long time. Thanks.
It’s very impressive how a lot of these features are included in the standard trim. Things such as a Digital Tachometer, LED headlights, push button ignition, adaptive cruise control, and automatic climate control are not usually features that are included on the standard trim.
Test drove this the other week, such a good ride for a daily drive. Fuel economy is great, the redesign looks nice, great safety features; all around a solid car. Leasing to own one in this colour in about a month, very excited
got mine today, literally got the last one on the lot, LX model rocks hard! I love it!
Thanks for this video. I'm planning on buying a Honda Civic 2022. This video was extremely helpful!
That yellow hand kills me. Makes the video more entertaining.
I just bought this car and the Canada model also has remote start and proximity entry in the LX trim.
The yellow hand!
That plastic finger just brought back memories 🤣
I'm coming from a 2006 civic daily driver so this 2022 base LX will feel like a Rolls Royce to me 😂
I can't bring myself to buy a brand new car because of prices right now, but I'm in a 2002 and I feel the same!
Im in a 2006 sedan and Im gonna pull the trigger next year for a 2023 hatchback. What do you notice the most comparatively?
I had a 2002 neon rt and when I switched to a 2009 Pontiac G6, it felt like a huge upgrade in comfort. I just test drove this new Civic base model and it was amazingly comfortable for a small car. Not at all what I was expecting. We ordered one.
@@undererock Same here. I have a 2002 Civic EX that I bought new. It only has 90,000 miles on it, as I live close to where I work. Two weeks ago, someone hit me. Crunched the front passenger fender, front bumper, and headlight. The insurance company totalled it but I bought it back. It's in the shop right now getting repaired. I hope to drive it a couple of more years before purchasing another. It's been a great car.
@@undererock Just over 20k is very affordable.
Thanks for this review! I’m seriously considering this as my next car.
For a base model, i have to say that the Civic is a cool looking car.
Your reviewing is great. Very thorough
.
this model reminds me more of my 2008 civic than my 2018
It's a shame they don't offer that sweet manual transmission in the base model anymore!
that's the only reason to get a civic for the manual. Sigh, which model do they offer it in?
@@squeekyclean1644 I hear they offer manual in the hatch back
I like that little yellow hand.
11:05 you just described me exactly! those are the exact reasons i prefer a urethane steering wheel with no wrapping! ease of cleaning, and i dislike the stitching
Love the styling on this car, thinking about getting one
Thank you for doing a LX video
Excellent job
I always buy a base model . Thank you.
Ask if Honda fixed the A/C problems on the new civic before you buy . They've screwed a lot of people with ac problems on the previous model .
What was happening with the ac issues?
Thanks for the detailed but not overboard review.
Thanks for putting up this video.
Thanks for reviewing a BASE MODEL ❤️
Great detailed video! earned a new sub!
What!? The trunk doesn't open all the way by itself? That's a deal breaker. Like most millennial car buyers, my wrists are far too limp to manage opening that big heavy trunk all by myself.
That steering wheel lookin funky
Very thorough and helpful. Thank you.
I'm getting the exact color and trim. Thank you
Get it ! I just bought this exact one a week ago and I’m in love with it ! 😊
@@michellemj5900 I did, waiting on the truck to deliver it lol. No cars on the lot.
Good luck folks. Good choice
Me too! I really had my heart set on the pearl white color but the meteorite grey color is slowly growing on me lol
Same here. Just ordered it today
Does the base model tell you on the dash board current psi on your tires ?
The back tail lights remind me of the 2016 Hyundai sonata
you got it... wish they would have put the new hatchback rear to the sedan at least
the front remind of 83 accord
love the base model but i’m def aiming for the EX trim.
The yellow hand 😆🤣😂
Amazing review man ❤️❤️❤️
Just ordered a white one today for my daughter. Two dealerships nearby me and none of them have any available.
Amazing Video!!
How come it has such a huge hump in the center of the rear floor? The 2013 Civic for example has almost an entirely flat floor. Just curious
They decided to put the muffler in that spot for some reason.
@@MikesCarInfo I don’t mean to be negative but I think Honda dropped the ball with the new civic because the previous version has a lot more storage space, more logical dashboard with no honeycomb air vents and it looks like the Insight now. The only redeeming feature are the LED headlights
How much the price I liked it affordable amazing
the 11th gen LX looked wayyyyyyy bettter!!!
Hey Mike I love my 4K panel!
I just like the video because of the tiny yellow hand
I'm really in love with these new Civic's 🥺, does it have a lot of room drivers seat ? 5'10 here and was originally going to get a SE Camry which has more room but 😩I can't stop checking these out.....help! 😅🥵
I am 5’11 and it’s perfect for me.
@@democracy480 I'm same as you and there's room for a taller person
Those hexagon air vents are going to be such a pain to clean. Talk about dust collector…
I wish they would add more to the base model, or at least the Sport model. First off, gloss black trim on the interior door trim front and back. Then, rear air vents on *at least* the sport model and above. USBs would be nice on the EX, but touring is fine. Finally, all models need 60/40 rear seat folding and a center armrest in the backseat.
Really confused between Civic LX 2022 and Elantra SEL 2022. Almost similar features but Elantra cost less. As a first time car buyer and just out of school, cost is important. Can someone advise? Some say Elantra has a lower resale value as compared to Civic and hence higher cost upfront for CIVIC will get compensated on resale.
I dont have neither but the elantra SEL is definitely gonna give you way more feature since it's almost the top trim. And resale for elantra is not that great. If you care about resale then Honda and Toyota is your best option
Civic will last you 15 plus years.
Hyundai maybe 10
Very helpful
Is there an interior noise difference between the 16 and 18 inch wheels?
Pretty loaded for a base civic! wow!
Does this LX trim show the tire pressure numbers?
Do you get fog lamps as an accessory...
This should've been the previous gen cause the last gen looks futuristic lol.
Yo I agree! 100%
Lol no, the last gen was too ricey
@@Dongzzzzzz it's a Japanese car. Should expect it to be ricey
@@kinluke no, plenty of Japanese cars of that era were minimalist which is the main aesthetic of Japan.
@@Dongzzzzzz nahhh man. Nahhhhhh.
It doesn't have remote starter? Just lock/unlock, trunk and panic?
Not this trim, no. I think to get remote start you might have to upgrade to the touring trim
Does the hatch comes with the NA engine too?
I purchased this base model LX, but I live in Canada and mine was built at Alliston Plant Canada. In addition my base LX has more features than the one you reviewed, mine has remote start and also the back seat is 60/40 fold down with the center drop down arm rest. Was that car just an early demo or my American buddies to south getting shafted?
I'm getting mine in about a week or 2. Had to trade in my 2020 lx manual for the 2022 automatic. I love driving standard but now i just want to drive and chill even in traffic lol. Doesn't matter to me I've always been a Honda/Acura person. Drove my 95 integra to the ground no mods not into that. Just under 600km. Cars are meant to be driven.
I'm waiting for the civic to be AWD LOL
So, how's the driving on roads and highways?
It's drives great on the roads and major hwy, going at 130 km or about 80 miles per. Fuel mileage is good Canadian or imperial gallon is 4.6 gallons vs 3.9 us gallon, it makes over 40 miles per gallon. Over all a very good car, I had a chevy Cruze turbo before, lots of power but lots of problems also.
@@markszczepaniak5888 Now, I like my console, knobs and button lights dim when i drive at night, is there option to dim the lights? My 2020 LX had that option. I hate driving at night and everything is bright inside. I like to try to be incognito.
And, do you like the auto engine off feature when you come to a stop?
@@FormlessJKD17 I hit the button and keep it running, may be summertime I will use the feature.
What would be the total amount with tax, title etc?
Wow I have a 2017 Toyota Camry and only 2 years left to pay. However I like this car better and would it be best to wait or go buy a new car❓
Drive your current car until it dies. New cars are not a great option financially unless you are already financially well off
Carmakers are running out of ways to call a vehicle gray. Wasn't this same color called blue steel metallic in the 10th gen Civic? Now it's meteorite gray 🤔
I love that car
does this have apple car play?
If you watched the video it tells you…. But yes it does. Not wirelessly though
Will this be offered in manual??
I’d take a base model than the higher trim levels.
Wow. I Love It.
Great car indeed
Very nice car. I would like to see analog speedo and tachometer, regular parking brake and normal key in base model. Otherwise, perfect economy car.
Is this 2022 Honda Civic LX available with TWO doors?
No
@@MikesCarInfo 😮💨
My car dealership sent me an email saying I’m eligible for an upgrade. I currently own a ‘21 civic and pay 350$ per month but if I get the ‘22 civic before the end of the month, I could be paying 240$ per month but also with a one time 325$ “documentary service fee”… not sure if I should do it.
If true, it could be a better deal for you.
Things to consider:
-Interest rate... What you are paying now vs the new contract. It should be lower.
-How long is the term... how many months will you have to pay
$325 Doc fee is reasonable these days.
I would look into it. If it is a lower rate with a similar term then it could save you a lot of money.
@@MikesCarInfo I don’t know the interest rate is yet but it’s for 36 months. I think I’m going to come into the dealership today. Just don’t want to get fleeced again.. I’m also supposed to stay under 12k miles a year. Which I won’t be able to cause I drove 16k last year.
@@lincoln8530 Ok they are trying to get you to lease the car not buy it.
@@MikesCarInfo yeah exactly

No heated seats on the LX.
Wonder how this would be with a car seat and a 6’2” driver
Also, front seat warmers
It should have alloys
That's a base model Civic? Wow
I would get it any trim, just not have a 1.5 L turbo. Those have a lot of problems.
What problems do they have?
@@MikesCarInfo gasoline seeps into the engine oil, Heating issues, Carbon build ups, and more
@@MikesCarInfo Scotty Kilmer told everyone this. My best friend is a service tech for Honda and he has had 1 10th gen 1.5 civic in for warranty engine work in 4 years.
@@hasanfarooq6232 this problem was exaggerated, and mostly limited to CR-V's with the 1.5T. Changing your oil regularly negates this problem anyway. Please stop spreading this misinformation.

What a pile last one was better , ...all brands are costing more and getting cheaper cheaper quality. The seat folds all in one not even a split talk about clever cost cutting to a new level.
This has got to be the most boring looking Honda Civic ever. I bet the next generation will be much better! The inside seems nice. It’s a shame they put hubcaps on LX models. Mazda gives a real rims on their base model.
Please use chapters
Wish there was a way to remove those dumb screens
That honeycomb dash looks neat, but I bet it would be really hard to clean.
Cool, but you need to clean that car out (including finger prints on the door handles)...would be much more impressive.
I love when Honda launches a new design and you see it in its Touring-Elite trims and it's absolutely stunning inside and out, until some time passes and all you see en masse on the roads are stripped down base models like this, and it cheapens the brand image as a whole. I wish they'd reserve a car with things like plastic steering wheels and wheel covers and cloth seats to something like the Fit, and leave the Civic and Accord as their elegant flagships. This Civic, much like the Accord LX and Sport trims, are NOTHING like their true Touring designs. They're entirely different animals under the same badge and body shape.
Hondas elegant flagship models are called the Acura
Anyone has a used 2016 civic you want to sell to me in Ghana ? I have been saving but still haven’t been able to buy one yet.
Just go for the touring model
Or save about 30% off the touring and get this one. $22k for a new car will appeal a larger amount of buyers with a used car budget.
