    Estonia has long thought of themselves as more Nordic. Thirty years ago they didn't have much of an argument.
    In July 2012 I went to Lviv for the first time. I told friends back in Tallinn that in comparison Estonia was definitely Nordic. :-)

    Estonia is indeed reminiscent of Finland. The languages are related, no? (Finno-Ugric languages are fiendishly difficult. Maybe not for you!)

      I didn’t learn much Estonian and I don’t speak Finnish so it’s hard for me to say. 🤔

    • @KohaAlbert
      @KohaAlbert День назад

      @@ConorClyneTsarExperience the languages are related, and there's a notable degree of mutual intelligibility, especially through old archaisms (enough so that Estonians were capable to self learn Finnish through Finnish media during the eighties).
      However these two are no mere dialects, and differences are much felt - one must learn the other's language for actual intelligibility.
      Think Dutch vs English for a rough comparison maybe.

      @ Ok, good to know. I’m considering learning Estonian in 2025.

      @@ConorClyneTsarExperienceboth are like the same language but we as Estonians took/borrowed so many words from Germanic and Slavic language, because we were invaded so many times through the history. It's easier for me to understand Finnish than the other way around.

    When were you there? I went in late June and the weather was perfect. I can recommend two things for your next trip; the Midsummer festival and Kennedys Irish Pub on Pikk in the old town. Cheers, Doug

    What a nice video. I'll add some additional points.
    1. Estonia is in NATO.
    2. Safety. Beginning of the first grade, children are going to school by public transport by themselves. Does your country have it?
    3. High level education. 41.2% of the working-age population have higher education. and it is rising.
    4. We have the most unicorns per capita in the world.
