Nowadays, DNA tracing can match people up with blood relatives in Africa, know your ancestral tribe. No doubts that Indians and Blacks married, or had kids, or lived in camps. A whole bunch of Buffalo Soldiers married Native women, they were only women out west at the time. I have the name of each grandmother who descended from her directly. I also have the census records from Oklahoma where some of her children and other family members were relocated to during the Trail of Tears, as well as pictures of her tombstone where she was buried in Oklahoma in a Creek Indian cemetery. In the early and mid 1800s, Indians in the southeast were often classified as mulattoes on census records and the ones of darker complexion were listed as colored or negro. In actually documented in the Congressional Records and in the records from Oklahoma stating that in Alabama.....Indians were classified as mulattoes. They reclassified us! In actually documented in the Congressional Records and in the records from Oklahoma stating that in Alabama.....Indians were classified as mulattoes. They reclassified us! @@stormy-le6pb give it up, "black" American indians were reclassified as negro on all the old censuses because they limited the options to "negro" and "white" only, so dark-skinned aborigines got caught up in the negro category. Just do research, it's all out there.

@@stormy-le6pb I have and it was after I wrote the comment and I'm 70 percent northern Ireland and 18 percent dutch and the remainder was north Europe, can't remember exactly but my last name is from the Hebrides of Scotland and my mother's maiden name is English so with my families known history my father's line came to America in 1717 and my mother's line in the 1600s and I'm 100 percent northern European

They still working on it. Freedmen must fill out a generation sheet with Roll number & name of your Creek ancestor & also have birth & death certificate of Creek ancestor. You can contact the Federal Archives for information on your ancestors & they will send you all the paper they have on your ancestors. If they were Creek slaves & enrolled as Freedmen, they would have the Roll numbers of them listed. Without that information you are totally out of luck.
