I live in Queens NY and ride my Ebike from the Rockaways , to Brooklyn , Manhattan and even Jones beach. I’ve rode 3000* miles the past 1 1/2 years and never even had one close call. I’m very careful and drive the bike as it were a car. Pedestrians have right of way and when I’m in crowds I go very slow. I CAN however agree that many ebikers ride like assholes and give other ebikers like myself a bad rap. Citibikers are some of the most dangerous idiots I’ve seen

When you are biking in NYC, you are inevitably going to come across several cyclists going the wrong way against traffic, trying to play chicken with you. Even a slow crash can have serious injuries- and these e-bikes allow people to go much faster and have longer brake time than what they could do with their own legs. An injury against an e-bike can be more severe than a conventional bike because of how heavy they are. The police usually don't stop cyclists who break laws.
