Been with Qobuz for going on my 3rd year now. Love the service (obvs since I pay annually). Quality is best in class. Their "Panorama" pieces are like reading Paste or Rolling Stone articles from back in the day, but with a real-time playlists to go right along with all the music in the editorial. Outstanding. No MQA b.s. Just all around an absolutely winning service.

@@SomeGadgetGuy Wanted to add, Amazon's catalog (for obvious reasons) and HD offerings are great, but 1) I hate (HATE!) the interface (as I have always with most all things Amazon/AWS based) and 2) for MUSIC (where artists are involved and its about enjoyment of sonic goodness) I simply refuse to give Amazon any MORE of my money to that end. Thanks for this video. One of the biggest reasons I watch tech reviewers is to learn of products and features. If you're coming here just to complain about Joe Rogan, this is not a video about podcasting policy and politics. I AM OBVIOUSLY timing this video because of the news. You're not cracking some case like a master detective. I spell that out in the video. REGARDLESS of WHY someone might want to leave Spotify, there are VERY good reasons to check out other services, that cost about the same, have about the same size library, and serve up SUBSTANTIALLY better audio quality. If you can't stay on that topic, I'll happily remove you from the comments. 👍

Even though my band's music is up on all of these streaming sites, I still have yet to use a streaming service. I'm just so invested in the older method. I have a massive CD collection, sometimes I'll just play those. But I still rip them onto iTunes (and occasionally buy individual songs from the store). Then I sync the library onto my rebuilt SSD iPod Classic and my Xperia 1 III. All of my files are AAC/M4A, so a bit better than MP3 but not quite WAV/CD, but good enough for my ears. But yeah being an artist myself, I can confirm, we've made infinitely more money (still not much at all) selling a couple hundred CD's at gigs for $5 a pop, as opposed to our few thousand Spotify/Apple/Tidal/etc streams.

Just curious, but can you actually hear the difference of a “high bit rate” compressed audio format e.g. 320kbps MP3/Orbis vs a lossless recording if they’re the same master via ABX testing? Does one sound noticeably better or do you just know what differences to look for to tell them apart and you’d be fine w/ the lossy version? It’s difficult for me even w/ my JDS Labs El Dac and Focal Elex. Maybe my hearing just sucks haha

Anecdotal, but I can. I've done those AB tests to justify my hoarding of flac files. It depends on the complexity of the track, but it can be fairly obvious. MP3 sounds compressed, crunchy, and grainy when it tries to portray too much at once. But there's other stuff that isn't complex enough for it to matter, to my ear. I should note that in hearing tests I'm only average, if not a bit below average.

Ultimately the choice is the consumers. But it's wrong to mischaracterize him because some talking head on the news tells you he's "hurting people". If anything, we should listen to more content so we can make an informed decision that best fits our needs. Mainly Lansdowne, Incubus, LadyGaga and High and Mighty color songs with some bruno mars and smashmouth in the shuffle mix. And I dont even have a flac file or wav or High quality mp3s of them just and MP3 converted from a downloaded hd youtube video... And it still has better clarity and quality than spotify at "extreme quality"... I can hear the difference that it pains me to use spotify for their songs which I mained on my psp in until after college, thats also why I loved LG phones because they gave better sound to the same files and better than my psp so I mained LG since then...
