      I have some servicing planned on twintop, might do ultrasonic cleaning injectors and timing belt, once I get a couple of my other cars back on the road, started work at work before lockdown so hope I can remember where I put everything
      I’ve used Opcom myself, when I purchased the car the boot wouldn’t open, and sorted that, I might have filmed some stuff that I haven’t edited as my farther was on them and passed away, so a bit hard to edit at the moment

      @01Blagard Thanks for the advice, Vauxhall said the roof ECU is causing the starting issues (keyless entry), ever heard of that? Plan is to get the boot open , clean up the corrosion if salvageable otherwise get James out from Kent who does mobile repairs for TT roofs.

    Finally someone has done a video showing this procedure. Ive also got a twin top with the roof stuck open and managed to figure out most of the manual closure procedure but couldnt find where the hydraulic relief valve was. I literally stopped working on it an hr ago with the thought of doing some more research then came across your video. I will have the roof up tomorrow without a doubt 👌🏾

      Make sure that all the roof locks boot locking and rams in the boot are fully closed position or boot won’t open from Handel, or Disconnect plugs as shown in the manual to disconnect roof ecu as to access to the boot from boot switch I could use my laptop so didn’t think about it at time of filming otherwise you need to manually open the boot which is a pain

      Don't know if it would still apply to you (or others) but I tied a thin rope from the loop on the plastic thing at the front of the netting to the side of one of the mesh storage compartments (very loosely) so I could grab that cable and pull it in to reach the netting again in case of it closing with the boot in (had happened before and isvery difficult to reach) - so a good idea to do before anyone gets this problem :)

      To open your boot pull fuse (15 I think) under the bonnet this will allow you to open the boot to adjust latching, it is probably the hyd rams not fully up left and right but mack sure you replace fuse before driving as it also connects important other systems

    Very clear, thank you. I've had lots of problems with the roof and the hand book is useless. I have to say that each time the problem has been different so I can't blame anything specific. It's getting the car to a repairer that's the biggest headache if you can't get the roof shut (as all readers no doubt know).
    I've had the same gears as you plus electric looms/computer, and now its one of the rams. It's a circlip that's gone and, no doubt, I'll have to get the whole ram because you can't get the cheap part!
    I still love the car though.

    to solve the boot not locking at the end you need to push the big plate behind the plastic trim for the boot to latch as well as keep the pressure from the pump turned off and the rams pushed all the way up till they stop then lock the latches then turn the pressure release back on then itl work 1st time

    Hello! Thank you so much for this video - we managed to close the roof manually following your video. But probably we did something wrong at the end - we closed the trunk and it's impossible to open now. At the autoservice they don't know what is the problem wit the roof and only for opening and accessing the hydraulic system to check the problem, they want to charge crazy money. I decided not to fix it just asked them to remove beeping (the cars beeps because it things roof is open). They also say to remove this beep, they need to access hydraulic system because fuses are there.
    From your experience, maybe there is easier way to reset electronic system or clean errors, so beeping stops?
    Thank you in advance.

    • @RichManPoorMotors
      @RichManPoorMotors  4 дня назад

      The beeping is because something isn’t in the right place, to open boot pull fuse 14 I think from memory in engine bay an you can open boot but replace as it is needed for other systems, the most likely causes are boot locking tines in the catch or hydraulic rams left right c pillar area not fully up, a temporary way to stop beeping is to remove plug to roof mechanism on the boot lid this disconnect the educators beeping and allows you to operate the boot

    • @RichManPoorMotors
      @RichManPoorMotors  8 дней назад

      I’ve had a be eos that had no faults and this Astra, the Astra had mega mileage and I bought it with a fault, the wiring loom on the Astra is exposed compared to the hidden eos, which makes it more prone to being caught by something in the boot. But easier to repair, the main problem would be a broken wire but this can happen in any saloon, estate or hatchback, there is just more of them in a twin top.

    I just showed this video to the AA man who came to get my roof up - thank you that it's so clear to follow. Problem not fixed but at least the car is usable and weatherproof.
    One question, though, the boot has locked shut but what were we missing in getting it to lock? He unscrewed the motor on the book lock so I can't use the boot until the problem is fixed. It looks as though the nearside boot flap motor has stripped. I had new metal gears put in about two years ago and I thought they would last. Could it be the flap itself?

    • @RichManPoorMotors
      @RichManPoorMotors  2 года назад

      Could be flap motor could be wire broken in the loom that would be my 1st look, could be a microswitch hard to diagnose needs putting on a diagnostic to point in right direction
      don’t know why boot motor would have been disconnected pull fuse 15 in engine bay to open boot if boot switch is still working and replace fuse before driving

    • @RichManPoorMotors

      The beeping boot not opening is because the sensors are telling the car that the roof isn’t fully closed
      The sensors are
      the roof into a pillar left right
      The rams (c pillar) for lifting the roof not fully up left and right
      Or the boot catch rear centre not fully rotated
      These can be done but pushing catches with screwdriver fully closed a pillar, lifting rams in c pillar hydraulics this is a bit tricky but can be done again using a screwdriver or a socket under rams while you close roof, and the boot tines can be closed in the boot lock by pushing with a screwdriver. To open boot pull a fuse in engine bay I think for memory it is f14 or f15 this will allow you to open boot but replace fuse before driving as it also dose other important circuits once all done beeping will stop, fault is most likely a broken wire in the wiring loom attached to the boot mechanism on left hand side

    Great! do you know in your esperience how to solve a failure of the red button roof ifter mechanism (tha one that allows the packed roof to get lifted some inches to access the luggage beneath/below? i mean: my button activates the pump but the packed roof doesn't lift at all, i hear like if it tries to but is locked somehow and the pump after a couple of seconds trying to push gets released (probably by a safety overpressure valve or safety switch) .. so i was wandering if could be some of those black cables that control some locks you show here in your video that may act as to lock/unlock that maybe is just in a not correct position so to let it work properly... if you could help with some hints or suggestion that would be much appreciated, for years i look for someone that has your experience so i ask. Also when you are trying to manoeuvre the boot at the end when you said 3rd time lucky, it's there a piece that attaches the boot section to the section with the window or it just clicks into the locking mechanism?
    The beeping is driving me crazy whenever I need to use the car.

      Yes you can just lever the ram (body not the chrome rod) up with a screwdriver as this will drop when you try and close the boot mechanism ( socket under ram dose same thing,) the boot, window, and roof panel are all connected together and have to lock into there correct positions

    Ey man, first of all thanks for your video, but I do have a question, so I had to repair some cables cause my roof wasn't working anymore, I bought the car with an inoperable roof, so I managed to get it working and don't have any faults left using an opcom, but it just doesn't want to complete the cycle, so the trunk flaps unfold aswell as the front flaps and then the next step would be 2 lay down the front lid and trunk lid, but that doesn't happen somehow, I can still close the roof using the cars button, And whenever it seems to get at this position I can hear the pump spinning, but nothing really happens, Do u might have any idea what could cause these,? Yeah I know my explanation might be a bit weird, but I'm Dutch so yeah, 😂

      Buzzer is because boot/trunk (or roof locks front window) is not closed properly, the boot is probably not closed either at the hinge (hydraulic rams not up fully) or the boot lock owing to the locking tines not fully rotated, therefore micro switches are not operating as they should, this needs to be done for the roof computer to know everything is ok, also roof needs to be locked in the front window frame then buzzer will stop, if you need to get into a locked boot pull fuse 15

    • @RichManPoorMotors
      @RichManPoorMotors  11 месяцев назад

      sorry cant seam to reply to your latest comment but the buzzer is from the roof sensors not being fully closed properly this would include the microswitch sensors for the boot

    Hey, thanks for the help! My roof got stuck almost at the end of the sequence while I tried to close it and it just wouldn’t move. I pressed the button, no three beeps, but it wouldn’t open nor close further. I could easily reach the pressure valve and after I released it, the roof fell into place. After that I pushed the close button and it locked the roof and closed the trunk normally. The trunk opens up easily as well. I didn’t have the courage to try and open the roof with the button since, what do you think the problem might have been? The flaps closed and the roof only got stuck near the end, and later it locked itself after I put it in place, so I cannot think of anything that might have been the problem. Also it always opened up fine, however it sometimes got stuck while closing, but continued after pushing the button again up until this point. Thanks for the help in advance!

      Hard to diagnose without live data, try and think where it was when paused and what operation was happening, maybe you have a warn gear etc, also if it just stopped out of the blue also check wiring especially on left hand side in case there are any breaks or shorts when working was it slow if so hydraulics could be worth looking at sorry which I could be more help

    The roof on my twintop was not opening automatically so the wiring was check and found a few breaks which were fixed.

    • @RichManPoorMotors
      @RichManPoorMotors  2 месяца назад +1

      @@roora111 beeping will probably be a sensor telling the car that the roof/boot it’s fully closed. It probably isn’t a sensor fault but the part of operation not fully completed, on the the boot where the hand opens the boot you have the boot lock on the body of the car check that the latch has fully rotated and that the micro sensor is showing that it’s closed the physical tines can be pushed with a screwdriver but be careful if the switch, the other sensors are the rams left and right for c pillar make sure they are fully up, and roof to a pillar fully locked failing that it might be a brake in the wiring loom check 1st for continuity then for shorts in insulation

      you can open the boot through the flap in the seats as shown then disconnect the roof ecu if you want to use the boot, video was just showing how to manually close the roof, while waiting to fix, eg temporary measure, untill you can get it fixed. you need to find fault, usually in the wiring, but could be motors or hydraulic etc, mine is flap motors
