Loved hearing what books you vibed with which ones you didn't :) Reading the short stories from Poe sounds so perfect for October!

Oh my gosh I had very similar thoughts to Hidden Witch, I liked it but was a little disappointed after enjoying the first book so much. It gives me hope for the third!
I’ve heard Rin Chupeco is pretty polarized as far as passion or complete and total disinterested goes. We have pretty similar reading taste so this definitely gives me a lot to think on 😂 as I have a Rin Chupeco book on my TBR shelf.
I love going into an older series that doesn’t have to have any analysis needed just plain old fun, I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Oh I 1000% plan on reading City of Brass! It’s in my must start fantasies for sure. You read so many books! Congrats and great wrap up!

Oh for sure, the third one is better!
I've noticed that from people's reviews over the past couple years too. If I don't end up liking the next one I pick up from her, she might have to be an author I give up on. We'll see
It is nice pulling back from all the new releases once in a while and picking up something older. It's something I should try to do more often. It's just so hard when everyone's excitement about new things is contagious
Ahhh I hope you love CoB when you start it! Thanks :D

I also revisited my love for Edgar Allan Poe during the spooky season...and it was so worth it! I read Berenice for the first time and fell absolutely in love with it.
I also need to pick up Empire of Gold 👀 I’ve just gotten distracted by so many other books 😂

It's seriously the perfect time to pick him up. I haven't read that one, but I'm glad you found something new to love!
Oh man, once you're ready for a gut punch, you should definitely pick up Empire of Gold haha

"I guess I was in a witchy, hidden mood." LOL anyway, I read The Bone Witch a couple of months ago and SUPER enjoyed it right from the beginning. I totally agree that not much really happens until the end, but I was super entertained from start to finish anyway :)

Dang you read so much in October, go you! =D
Ohhh okay so The Empire of Gold is the third in a trilogy. I need to rewatch your reading vlog on City of Brass, see if this is a trilogy of books I want to read, flaws and all.
Okay now I’m really curious about Northanger Abbey. It felt spooky to you? I haven’t read it, so color me intrigued.
Your enthusiasm for the Out of Sight Out of Time series is adorable, haha. I get your apprehension of someone not liking it though. I feel that way about a couple movies I love. If someone doesn't like them, I'm like "Cool cool cool that's fine, but don't tell me why."

I'm pretty sure after reading like 12-18 books per month since June, I've completely run out of my reading steam hahaha I fell down an anime rabbit hole and haven't gotten out yet. I don't really mind though, I've read so many more books this year than ever before.
Yes yes! My reviews for the first two books are in my SFF Catch Up Wrap Up too. I think the series would be interesting for you since you're getting into arabic things and I think you're a character reader? The setting and the characters are fantastic and the plot is just cuckoo bananas hahaha.
There are aspects of traditional gothic novels in Northanger Abbey, and even though I knew everything was ridiculous, the writing of certain scenes really scared me to the point I was trying to skim read really fast to get past it hahaha
I think everyone has some sort of media that will forever be treasured in their memory, even if looking back on it doesn't quite match up haha I don't really mind people having problems with things I like. I could point out some flaws myself, and I think it would actually be really interesting seeing what someone who hates something I love has to say haha I'd probably agree with them but continue loving it anyway

@@cozyafternoons I'd say you're very well read this year. You can definitely slow down on your reading and feel just fine about it.
I know you rewatched a favorite anime recently, but have you watched anything new?
I am definitely a character reader, tis very important to me. Okay okay, I really need to check out the library I found. Hmm hopefully I can early next week.
Huh, I wonder if you'd find a classic gothic horror novel like Dracula scary. I found some parts unsettling, but never truly scary.
Most media things I'm cool with discussing why someone didn't like the thing I did. There' just a couple special things to me where I'd rather not hear the negatives, even though I am aware of the flaws. =3

Yes I have! Though technically I also rewatched another favorite that led me to the new one I binged as well because they were similar concepts haha Recovery of an MMO Junkie and Wotakoi (which in turn made me nostalgic for MMOs and so I went back to those recently too lol)
Let me know if you end up picking up City of Brass! :)
I wouldn't be surprised if Dracula scared me haha I'm a complete wimp especially with supernatural things.
Hahaha I understand. I know a lot of people who are like that, though I don't think I am personally

@@cozyafternoons Here's to hoping the library thing works out, and they have City of Brass. In any case, I will for sure let you know!
Hmm Dracula may be a skip for you. Or you can do what I did and I think I only did my reading during the day, so the night time couldn't scare me. =P

    • @cozyafternoons

Yeah I'll probably stick to middle grade if I want something slightly scary haha that's about my level
