Lol Colleen Hoover has had massive success as an author, which probably accounts for all the hate you found. That book was definitely a roller coaster of emotions but I actually thought it was spot on in terms of how I would feel in an abusive relationship. The book hangover from that one haunts me to this day 😅.
SPOILER i wouldnt say it romantizes abusive relationships (ive read it) but it’s for sure not a perfect book. the major problem with it is that a lot of 12-13 yo girls read it bc of booktok, which i dont find very appropriate for that age group. It could have be informative and all that but the ending is whats most disappointing and unrealistic. And the sequel is even worse (basically he doesnt get much backlash for his abuse and she says bringing him to court wouldnt do anything) The author herself i think is a victim of abuse so she knows what shes talking about at least and the emotions she brings up are very real and intense.
Ahhhh I see. I am glad to have some insight. I think parents just have to make sure they are buying things that are age appropriate for their kids to read... and honestly it may be best to keep kids of tiktok all together lol. Theres a lot of sh*t up there that children don't need to see.
