From my perspective, Disney lawyers have been almost notoriously known for their ability to protect Disney, since the 80s.

As a general rule, I believe corporations need to be kept on a very tight lease. But Disney smacking down DeSantis is simply delightful.

There are laws about politicians using their position and the government to harass private corporations based on their own PERSONAL vendettas where no crime or impropriety has been committed by the corporation and the vendetta has nothing to do with the politician's official status and duties.

Going to waste a lot of my Florida taxes for insanity. Disney isn’t just in Orlando. Vero Beach has a Disney resort and there is a fleet of Disney cruise ships going out multiple ports. Disney tourism brings money to multiple areas of Florida, airports and driving here, hotels, restaurants, other tourism venues benefit too.
and it’s Florida’s third largest employer.

It’s not just Disney , it’s also all the other ancillary businesses that depend on Disney. Hotels, restaurants, shopping centre's, grocery stores. Even other theme parks depend on the draw of Disney to get people into their parks. I live in Orlando and Disney is woven into the fabric of Central Florida. When DeSantis says the voters wanted this fight, he’s lying. He never said a word about Disney until Disney spoke against his stupid law. It’s personal for him, and most us living here know it. Also, regarding taxes, the biggest reason Florida can claim its vaunted "no income tax" status is because the state instead has extremely high tourism taxes. Out-of-state visitors pay Florida's taxes, and attacking Disney hobbles your biggest source of state funds
The District deal is also NOT unique as places like The Villages have the same sort of agreements, and only Disney was targeted.

As a lifelong Florida resident, I'll be first to tell you there ain't enough beach to replace Disney. If they shut down the Orlando location even for a week, they'll shut down 95% of Central Florida as a whole. Disney IS Florida besides the S. FL beaches, Keys, Panama City and maybe just maybe Jacksonville.
Amazon couldn't replace Disney in Florida. Even if it was the HQ and main hub

I grew up in Kissimmee about a 7 minute drive from the Disney district, my mother worked in MGM (now Hollywood) studios at the Brown Derby. Florida relies on Disney in more ways than you can imagine. They’re not only a driver of tourism, they’re a driver of actual residents, developments, tax dollars, charities, etc. I knew from the moment Desantis went after them that it would be his undoing, and it is and will be. Florida loves Disney, and for Desantis to attack Disney is to also attack his own residents, and as you see now with big donors pulling out, his own supporters will begin to pull out to because this is a fight they dont want, trust me.
Like Trump, Desantis is trying to draw the people of Florida into HIS fight with Disney by trying to paint the company's special district as unfair to THEM.

I will never understand why he thought it was a good idea to attack Disney arguably one of the most powerful companies on earth.
DuhSantis suffers a major flaw common to many pols: An outsized ego / need for approval (compensation for a lack of self worth).
As with others having the same shortcoming, it blinds him to reality - resulting in poor judgement. Ron is unready for the national stage. Plus he lacks foreign policy experience - a significant deficiency for a national leader in an especially unstable world.
To be a serious candidate in '28 he has some real challenges to overcome. The Presidency, by the nature of the office, forces its holders, no matter how capable, to undergo near-constant OJT through much of their first term.
As Trump has demonstrated, it's no position for the under-qualified.

I’m a Floridian. Desantis was actually pitched as a smarter, more clever & less off-the-rails Trump minus Trumps scandals.
It really wasn’t until the Disney feud that his intelligence came into question, even amongst staunch conservatives. This is what happens when a powerful person surrounds himself with yes men, instead of people who aren’t afraid to challenge him on the sensibility of his Disney vendetta - especially with presidential campaign season looming. He can’t afford to take on Disney when there’s real bipartisan crisis’ such as uncontrolled home insurance rates in FL. His ego is now killing his image.

It increased 25% in 6 months for a car I drive 1500 miles per year. And windstorm is up 35%. And still our governor and legislature do nothing to help.

Walt learned from his mistake in Anaheim, CA. He only bought up the amount of land needed for Disneyland, not thinking about how he might possibly expand the park in the future. From '55 to '65, the orchards that surrounded Disneyland were replaced with non-Disney hotels, restaurants, etc. making it nearly impossible for Disney to expand further with new ideas.
He went to Florida, bought up a bunch of swampland, way more than he thought he'd ever need, and rebuilt Disneyland there, only a bit bigger, better, and with plenty of room to expand into (like Epcot). DisneyWorld doesn't have the land restrictions that Disneyland is, and has been, plagued with.
DeSantis has picked a fight he's not likely to win.

@Joe Nunez In regards to the history as to WHY Disney World exists? Not much. However, the deal that Disney entered into with the state over 55 years ago kind of makes it hard for the state to change the deal without a major legal battle. Given that DeSantis is operating on a retaliatory basis, that doesn't help his case. But, I'm no lawyer, so you'll have to ask one.
@Joe Nunez the dissolution of the special tax district was because Disney came out publicly against a bill. A company commenting on a bill is protected from government retaliation due to the 1st amendment. This was done directly in retaliation, which is unconstitutional. THE Central Florifa Tourism oversight board's dissolution of Reedy Creek's contracts is illegal for the same reason as well as breaking the contract clause of the US constitution.

I am a senior from Michigan I have took my family to Florida many times in my life specifically to Disney. I have no idea what is going on in the head of Alfred E Newman . For myself personally and I am sure many others when you think of Florida you think of Disney not Mr dog poop DeSantis.
