Well done! Nice escape. Never underestimate small rates of climb. 👍
    Greetings to France.

Somehow, being in the air in an unpowered craft, the question “where is the airfield” doesn’t inspire confidence

Ha, you're right of course! As I came over the ridge I 'knew' it was there so was a bit surprised not to see it. It was there of course but always nice to get your options in clear sight. Are you a pilot? Have you tried gliding? I thoroughly recommend it if not, nothing like riding the air currents a long way from home and using your learnt skills and judgement to find the way to get back.

sometimes it is easier to stay on Bauge, Chartreuse, Vercors. Alberville is often very stable and difficult. Same with Belledonne if low.

Agree. I have taken that route a couple of times last year. On this flight you can see the thick cirrus to the west and I was too low to cross the valley. Looking back now it was my poor decision making that got me into that position. I kept pushing forward when several clouds failed to work instead of going back. The whole time I was 'struggling' on the ridge it looked great further east but by then I was too low to reach it.

I assume you got home. Good video to describe what goes on in the mind when you get low and have to scratch in the weakest of thermals until you find something which will get you back.

Yes I did get home, very relieved. Unfortunately the camera didn't record it all but it was a case of 'airfield hopping'. At one point I did talk to Grenoble to ask if they had a tug available to tow me back to La Motte if reqd and there was a point where I was only just in reach going back to Grenoble and didn't have the altitude to get to Gap but the ridges had been working so I gambled they would continue to work and that paid off. On rewatching this I'm slightly appalled at some of the poor flying, too much 'stirring' of the controls!

Bro is it possible to do acrobatics in a glider?
    Just asking. 😊

Hi, I presume you mean aerobatics! In most gliders you can do some aerobatic manouevres. There are gliders built just for aerobatic competitions. This is one of my favourite youtube videos, ruclips.net/video/qaRH19BFwVI/видео.htmlsi=860x2nlVTL_eJZgF Hope you enjoy it

yes but only with white gloves....

Ah! The gloves. Reason I now wear those is that the first year I flew here my hands were sweating so much the stick grip rotted and fell apart. Buying the gloves is much cheaper and easier then replacing that grip.
