For the game ending @ 52:00 - the Hexgold Halberd only gives first strike on OPs turn, so I think the attack with the Justiciar to gain 6 life would have been solid and taken out any 2 blockers they had. Also, not sure if it would be right, but Planar Disruption can go on artifacts if you wanted them to not equip. I have used it on someone's vehicle before when needed. Cool to bring BenS on!
I feel like the hive over salvo was a wrong pick. Hive actively hurts you if you dont get corrupted online and there was nothing in this deck that helped you get to corrupted except hive and maybe scamp. Red white equipment really wants to win through board state and a one R (with your deck) to deal 5 to something I feel is such a better tempo play than one and a W for a hive that takes a really long time to get going.
Yes, that was a bad pick IMO. An other one came early, it was p1p2 Anointer over Planar Disruption. Pretty early, it can be hard to tell how things are going to end up, but Disruption seems like it was the better pick since it was more flexible (good in any white deck, whereas Anointer is a "secret" RG card). To be fair, it was early in the draft and hindsight is 20/20. Overall, it was a good draft despite those two picks.
36:00 i feel the same way as Ben, started drafting on mtga in kamigawa neon, your videos have been helping me a lot since. Thank you for all the amazing content.
#Stark Wisdom# great insight to drafting techniques. The reasons for picking one card over another each pack is invaluable for those who only occasionally draft.
Cacophony scamp is so underrated in this format, can literally do 10 damage turn 2 in R/G and is a blowout card most people don't see with just one or 2 combat tricks/equips
I agree completely. Probably the only pick I strongly disagreed with. Anointer only goes in all ready strong R/G decks, planar goes in any white deck leaving you open.
@@robertcusick9931 there was a few strange picks ....pack 2 pick 2 Skrelv's Hive over Rebel Salvo feels bad in a deck that will struggle to get Corrupted on line... then after they picked Hive passing on all the good white toxic creatures.
@@graemescott5282I disagree. I’m equipment a consistent body is THE best way to victory since ideally, your equipment make it the best creature on board. I don’t play equipment anymore because of the sole reason that it loses to removal too easily if you don’t draw well
I'm confused how Phyrexian Arena is undesirable yet Skrivl's Hive is desirable. A draw every turn isn't as useful as a 1/1 token that can't block? Anyone understand the rational?
58:55 at this point you should just swing with the 4/3 token force a block from one of their big guys, then equip it to another token clearing their board each turn, instead of wasting all that mana to get it on a useful card that you don't want to trade.
I have not seen red be that dominate, personally and it might be that a lot of the drafts I've done in person seem to all have that one person drafting a predominate blue deck that forces a grindy match, and often that person is me. It might also be that too many people grabbing red cards makes the pool selection slim. I don't think I have gone the red route except to splash for 2 or 3 cards to round out my decks
Great insights for a drafting newb, but dear god... please stop rolling over cards every second, lol. I want to read what you're looking at and understand the relevance to the discussion. Definitely try to highlight the cards you guys are actually talking about, otherwise it feels schizophrenic. Your guest is talking about one thing while you're flitting through based on your own thoughts. Maybe I'm just getting old, but creates a lot of dissonance :) Thanks for the info.
The guest is obviously not used to the quick drafting format and Nicolai trying to kindly shift his attention by hovering over a card 4 times in a row is absurdly hilarious.
You played very defensive on this deck maybe a bit much. Not sure how much I would have played differently so in hindsight it may be a backseat comment but not sure, that is how I felt.
Shoutout to Ben Stark for being a legendary guest! He had excellent insights to share and it was a blast having him on!
Who should I draft with next?
Paul Cheon :))

Nice! Ben Stark really got me into drafting. Love to see him put up more videos for himself!
Great having Ben S on & Reid! Living these draft interview insight drafts! 1000% Awesome content!!
In reference to what Ben said before he signed out, this channel is a big reason I still play mtgarena at all.

I’m pretty high on bitter blossom in an equipment deck. Keeps the clock ticking.

I am one pack in the draft portion and By Gawd Almighty, this has been so informative, I hope I can remember it all!
Really cool having Ben and Reid!! Really enjoyed both videos!!
#Stark Wisdom# great insight to drafting techniques. The reasons for picking one card over another each pack is invaluable for those who only occasionally draft.
That was amazing! Loved how great the against all odds and the bardiches were. The lookout even won you a whole game! Hive wasn’t helpful though
Ben Stark is the G.O.A.T.

Anointer over Planer Disruption? ....Anointer is a RG card and you 1st picked a RW card

#starkwisdom he really called it on the against all odds picks. Good card for an equipment deck.
Ben was right I started going to my LGS and drafting because of watching all these lmao
Is there a list of Ben Stark's blue control draft deck somewhere?
I'm confused how Phyrexian Arena is undesirable yet Skrivl's Hive is desirable. A draw every turn isn't as useful as a 1/1 token that can't block? Anyone understand the rational?
That blue 5-drop comparison! #StarkWisdom

#StarkWisdom Good analysis. Against All Odds was a beast for you!
love this series
pause between p[acks more plz, pay attention to what questions you ask during draft that you could ask before hand for next person
Stark Wisdom
More Ben Stark plz!! Thanks Nicolai
39:31 Why didn't you attack with the Myr tokens? Did losing one really matter?
Agreed! I think he should have been suiting up the mites with blade hold war whip in order to get some good trades or get corrupted going
It kinda makes me happy that I came to the same conclusion of Ben about drafting blue
great episode, can't believe you almost didn't pick against all odds, that was a close one heh
Ben Stark, my favorite professor!
Great advice! 😉
Damn I'd love yo play vindicator in draft
Always love a Ben S draft
#StarkWisdom. I really thought white was the strongest for draft and now here I am with a UR Draft.
looks like the wisdom payed off
#starkwisdom really coming through!
I made a very fun blue red artifact deck with 3 eyes of malkator
Great video
I miss Ben Stark! Thanks for pulling him out of his cave @nicolibolas
Why do they call the whip a gold card?
Two colors of mana

Hey! Good to hear Ben!
I have to agree completely. This set is too bomby. It makes it unfun to play.
