Today's 3 main weather storylines... 1) Late December Blowtorch Pattern: A HUGE ridge of high pressure centered over the Hudson Bay in Canada will bring mild temperatures across most of the United States for Christmas week. A few record-breaking temperatures are even possible. 2) Early January Winter Pattern: A WILD change in the weather pattern is expected in the 1st and 2nd week of January. This change should bring more widespread cold air, and even a few snowstorms to parts of the United States. 3) The Polar Vortex: A Sudden Stratospheric Warming Event (SSWE) can lead to SEVERE cold air outbreaks across the United States and Canada during the middle of January. Something to watch for in the coming days!
I'm leaving Arizona, the last time it rained it was 112 and it wasn't really rain most of it evaporated before hitting the ground 😐 leave AZ if you can
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, Hunter! I really enjoyed you talking about the oscillation depiction you showed us. Very interesting! Thanks again for all you do!
Late December will be mild, so snow chances will be lower than usual. But, January and February should lead to plenty of opportunities across Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin for snow.
