Thoughts? I'll be making a video on Arma Reforger's new Wasteland gamemode made by the original creator, Tonic, for this weekend too. It seems pretty cool.
As much as I love the Cold War theme personally and it’s perfect for the concept of Reforger, if Arma4 was Cold War, I think everyone would lose their shit! Arma4 HAS to be modern era
It’s a hard decision. I think gameplay wise, less thermals, less brutal cas (mostly unguided weapons), more focus on the infantry element. It must be tempting from a gameplay perspective first for Bohemia. I think 90s/2000s has a good mix of tech and infantry focus, but seeing how true modern warfare is panning out in Ukraine, I doubt drones and constant death by precision guided munition would be fun gameplay
its cold war confirmed, check the arma subreddit/the concert video they show soviet tanks in the enfusion engine + theres a note in russian that if you translate reveals the setting.

Arma 2 Wasteland and DayZ is how I discovered your channel in 2013. I never got to play any of these due to not having a good PC, but I still got to enjoy them through your videos.
Played Arma 2 when it first came out in2009. I was only 9 then, and when I was 11, and 12 I discovered some very cool dudes on the internet who opened me up to really cool mods (you and DDG.) Ages have passed, and now I look forward to a new installment. I expect a great new age of Lewlew content. Cheers
Started playing ArmA and watching Lewis when I was a squeaky little kid on ArmA 2 Island Life. I am now married, working a 9-5 office job and haven't touched ArmA for years. But will always remember how watching Lewis' streams got me through so many hard time, my first break up, my first thought was to just watch Lewis stream haha. Even through I don't touch ArmA anymore I still find the time to watch ever video from Lewis that pops up in my RUclips

We got gta 6 before arma 4 is the new meme. Also really wish it was modern as well, I just think that suits Arma a lot better. I get there's mods but having the systems for like attachments and lasers and stuff all be vanilla and implemented officially just works a lot better imho. The gameplay systems just suit a post 2000's setting a lot better!
For sure, but based on how the concert ended, it seems like Arma 4 could still be cold war, if it is, mods can still go brrr if it is a more refined engine/setup than it is right now with Reforger, but it just being modern off the rip would make my enjoyment of it a lot higher for the more unmodded experiences in it.

Lewis! Poggers. Looking forward to Arma 4. Not sure what you're playing these days but there are 2 decent Arma 3 exile servers and one of them, SG, is having a fresh wipe in a couple weeks. It's some good fun for about a month while the pop stays around 60.
Reforger is overlooked by many and isn't that popular but still holds quite a few full servers with experiences that are like DayZ, Wasteland, RP etc, if A4 actually hits, those servers will be popping off.
4:41 for Reforger at the pace of releases that they’ve been putting out, the Final Strike phase of the roadmap will take a year, easily. There are probably about 3 major releases there and they come about every 3-4 months

Most are still sticking with arma 3... I have a couple of buddies who are mod authors that are still slowly updating their mods for arma 3. CUP is still with arma 3 and RHS have moved onto arma reforger but mostly their projects are unfinished.
I used to hate the console crossplay in Reforger, but tbh the console players are slightly better than AI (most of the time) and they help seed the servers so it's less likely to end up like Arma 3 with 4 pub servers that anyone even plays on anymore.
Been a long time coming just hope it modern just so we have alot to play with and miss arma 3 life on the youtube and the fun shenanigans as i dont have time to watch streams unfortuantely
I just want wasteland servers back with with old blufor, redfor and neut with all the old and new stuff from arma2 and 3 eg tanks, helis. jets and mini gun suv's. So much fun building and defending bases while sending people out for events to get tanks, helis etc. Hours spent each day chasing objectives for fun toys and constant action.
I don't think there is anything like it live right now, the footage is actually a few months old, it was "Blood and Sand" though, just have a look on either Reforger's server list or on Battlemetrics if you don't own Reforger and you will find some weird stuff like this. I always thought we'd see ARMA 4 before DayZ II. But 2027? That seems a little bit late. Do you think we'll see DayZ II developed along side ARMA 4? The current DayZ is a lot better, and the new DLC looks great, but it's still rough and limited compared to Reforger which has shaped up into something quite good. Reforger still has a lot of room to improve whereas I feel like DayZ hit the ceiling on the improvement scale and will be as is until a sequel due to engine limitations. There's also no doubt in my mind that Bohemia will make a DayZ II when it's their most known and best selling title despite it being... sub par.
It is far out, but that WILL still be before DayZ 2, but 100% we will see it eventually IMO. It is currently Bohemia's most popular game, and it's not even close, it has like triple the players on DayZ vs Arma 3 right now (their second most popular title), and that isn't even taking into account console players, who are also more pretty likely to buy their DLCs, since they don't have mods. So if Bohemia enjoy staying in business, DayZ 2 will happen eventually. It's just hard to say since I think a while back they said they WOULDN'T be doing more DayZ maps/expansion, but then Frostline just came out (which slightly dissapointed me, the DLC that is, not its existence), so maybe they will keep just slowly bringing out content for DayZ 1 since that is just a money printer right now, but surely, EVENTUALLY, it may be time to move to that new platform/engine. I will say as someone who has almost 300 hours in Reforger though, the enfusion engine isn't currently better in every way, and presents a lot of issues. So this move to a "DayZ 2" shouldn't happen until that isn't as much the case.

I even still sometimes replay the mod but it's full dead now. I want something new, it isn't nostalgia holding me back, but that new thing was never SA. I agree, I was let down by the expansion for sure, there are A FEW buildings, but it just seems like they're unwilling to make a lot of new buildings for whatever reason. The newer enfusion tools allow for better modability anyway, so even if Bohemia don't do it, a DayZ 2 we would hopefully see a lot more content in terms of that. Because I don't know about you, but for me, a custom map/expansion map (by BI) would feel a lot more unique/thematic if it would have ENTIRELY new buildings, 100% new, not 98% old as we see in most modded maps (except Namalsk and the STALKER map maybe, both of which aren't the best feeling buildings ever either).
I do think they will hit the 2027 release date with A4. Having realistic expectations for the development time is definitely better than pulling an optimistic release date out of your ass and eventually delaying it 4 times 😀 Juding by how quickly the time flew from watching your early DayZ videos in high-school to having a kid and a real business.. 3 years is nothing.

@@Psi Ummm... reforger is completely different to Arma 3. Arma 3 uses files, coding and scripts so arma 4 will possibly be the same. Arma 4 will heavily rely on CPU usage just like arma 3 so I'm pretty sure it will be released on PC first before they make a console port so it runs steady. We don't want those consoles causing a fire wouldn't we lol.😂
@@Themistocles30 Sure, I wouldn't want a console port to impact the PC experience in any way (which Reforger does), but the point is that Reforger is on the Enfusion engine and is crossplay, and launched with it on Xbox, Arma Reforger the "Road to Arma 4" for a reason, it's Arma 3 early early access. You can tell me I was wrong later if I am though.
@@Psi Arma reforger is smaller though... Arma 4 will possibly be big with maps and rely on scripting/codes so that PC users can edit their scenarios and AI in a text document. I remember when I was on xbox 360 and everyone was saying arma 3 was going to release on next gen. It was all speculation and hype that kind of annoyed me a little. I'm hoping arma 4 does release on all platforms but it's likely that it will release on PC first just for testing.
Honestly, seeing how Arma 3 has gone. Not gonna hold my breath on this. Bohemia is great at making maps, their scenarios are decent. But when you compare Arma 2 to Arma 3... Arma 2 with less DLC somehow has MORE in it before you add in the mods. Like literally, all of Arma 3's DLC's come off as hobby projects over actual DLC considering how long it takes for them to do simple Gun/Vehicle DLC. First Contact was one of their few DLC's that was really adding alot of meat to the game, but it was more of probably what the game was originally gonna be before it got title changed from Arma Futura to Arma 3. 9 years of content and the most meaningful DLC's were the creator DLC's. Don't get me wrong, Arma Games are more about their Modding Community anyways, but that is because the devs of the actual series have been lacking and reaping rewards for talent and work of the modders. Can the devs claim the finished product of Arma 3 was worth 2 of their own spending 100+ days in jail over?
Its good arma4 is still coming, it should have come a lot sooner. It will probably be modern, no reason to do historical in a sandbox milsim and it wouldnt be as popular. DayZ was a mess, Reforger is a good change but I dont have much hope for arma4 after how long reforger took and the result. I feel like most the good modders have quit and most the content is just stolen/copy pasted from older mods now. Most good modders just move on to making shitty unreal engine scam games by themselves.
Everyone saying modern Arma, but how modern are we talking? Tbh the Ukraine war doesn’t look very fun with the focus on drones/indirect fire. I think a 2000s modern (20 years ago already) would be a better approach
To be honest I'd only get the game if they gave it to me for free for having purchased Reforger. My least played ARMA game to date too many bugs on launch and not enough content imo.
You mean Reforger DayZ? Those were always very scuffed, with time people will get more comfortable with the new Reforger tools, more modders will come to Reforger closer to A4's release too.
Yeah I mean the core game's car desync ruins ELAN anyway for me, ELAN is well made, but the unlock the full potential, just like with A3, we need more modded content, vehicles, buildings, maps etc to enhance life.

If you've ever played a good DRO scenario on ARMA 3, you would understand why so many of us see Reforger as a janky messed up pvp mess !! Reforger is so inferior to good ARMA 3 it ridiculous. All it has going for it is pretty graphics..
I agree, that's why I said in the video that it isn't perfect, the vehicle desync also is VERY weird and rubber bandy in Reforger, which just isn't something you'd see (at least on your client, maybe from someone else's PoV) in Arma 3.

Don't get me wrong, Arma Games are more about their Modding Community anyways, but that is because the devs of the actual series have been lacking and reaping rewards for talent and work of the modders. Can the devs claim the finished product of Arma 3 was worth 2 of their own spending 100+ days in jail over?
bruh. The latest Arma Reforger is still so barebone. If Arma 4 is made of that, Arma 4 will 100% flop
Its good arma4 is still coming, it should have come a lot sooner.
It will probably be modern, no reason to do historical in a sandbox milsim and it wouldnt be as popular.
DayZ was a mess, Reforger is a good change but I dont have much hope for arma4 after how long reforger took and the result.
I feel like most the good modders have quit and most the content is just stolen/copy pasted from older mods now. Most good modders just move on to making shitty unreal engine scam games by themselves.

To be honest I'd only get the game if they gave it to me for free for having purchased Reforger. My least played ARMA game to date too many bugs on launch and not enough content imo.

You mean Reforger DayZ? Those were always very scuffed, with time people will get more comfortable with the new Reforger tools, more modders will come to Reforger closer to A4's release too.

Yeah I mean the core game's car desync ruins ELAN anyway for me, ELAN is well made, but the unlock the full potential, just like with A3, we need more modded content, vehicles, buildings, maps etc to enhance life.

If you've ever played a good DRO scenario on ARMA 3, you would understand why so many of us see Reforger as a janky messed up pvp mess !! Reforger is so inferior to good ARMA 3 it ridiculous. All it has going for it is pretty graphics..
I agree, that's why I said in the video that it isn't perfect, the vehicle desync also is VERY weird and rubber bandy in Reforger, which just isn't something you'd see (at least on your client, maybe from someone else's PoV) in Arma 3.
