People vacate homeless encampments in Providence

Across Providence, homeless encampments were cleared out Tuesday.
The city last week gave eviction notices to people living in the woods off Houghton Street and on an embankment between I-95 and Branch Avenue.
People living near St. Edward's Church said there was an encampment in the nearby woods for years.
Forced by the city to relocate, they're now staying on church property. NBC 10 News was unable to get in contact with anyone at the church.
A third encampment outside Crossroads Rhode Island, near the on-ramp to I-95 south, was also cleared, but they weren't issued notices to vacate. Instead, Crossroads worked to help relocate them to safer locations.
The city installed fencing surrounding the grass where the tents had been pitched.

People did not vacate any homeless encampment-that is a lie. Everywhere they go, there is now a homeless encampment. All Smiley did was rearrange the deck chairs on the sinking ship.
