I tried this in my Stainless Steel stash mug and it worked perfectly. This is going to save me so much money on camping meals and dishes when at home! Thanks a million!
What portions do u use for a meal just by yourself and what else do u eat with the rice? Ive been making instant au jus gravy and it tastes so good. Might add carrots and beef
So the trick is to take it off the heat and then cover it with a lid? The steam will cook the rice, while the water is absorbed from the rice. I'm going to give this a try with a single Esbit tab and half a cup of rice.
Just learned a new way to cook the rice from India. This method removes the starch and the grains become separate. Wash the rice to remove starch and drain water, two times. Then when cooking, the new ratio is 1 part rice to 5 parts water. Bring to a boil for 10 minutes and stir a couple times while boiling. Then drain excess water. This method removes starch and is better for diabetics.
Hi Joy it's a sneaky edit video just focused on the rice but thought it deserved it's own little slot Thabks for watching and the kind feedback Take care Roo

I like how it instantly fluffed the rice. Is this type of cooking possible with any type of metal container? As long as its not toxic
So the trick is to take it off the heat and then cover it with a lid?
The steam will cook the rice, while the water is absorbed from the rice.
I'm going to give this a try with a single Esbit tab and half a cup of rice.
Yep, trap the heat and the rice will absorb the water 👍

Don't you need to rinse the rice first ?

@@PreparedCamping Couldn't you pre-rinse the rice at home first ?
@@ButchCassidyAndSundanceKid I'm sure you could I just never do, so don't know how it would affect the absorption
You can make steamed rice by pouring half of the water then the rice (sorry i don't speak english very often)
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment particularly if english isn't your first language
Thanks for the tip 👍
