My reply to another comment regarding this issue: Not trying to be hostile but just go to new releases and what do you see: "simulators" with AI-generated art (Street Survival: Homeless Simulator - this was released last year but bruh, seriously?), "horror" games with AI-generated art, shovelware with AI-generated art, mobile games, knock-offs of popular games which aren't available on PlayStation (Fool's Pub instead of Liar's Bar, Float Survival instead of Raft, Lethal Corporation instead of Lethal Company, Call of Honor instead of Call of Duty + Medal of Honor?, not to even mention the amount of Backrooms games, Edit: Also Chained Towards Heaven instead of Chained Together). And it's been like that for a while. In 2023 there was a Rocket League rip-off called Rocket Car: Ultimate Ball League Machines but I guess it got taken down or something because I can't find it anymore. It's no longer even remotely funny with all these: "We have _ at home" type games. I used to look through new releases like at least once every month to find some hidden indie gems but this is not worth the effort because the amount of trash you have to get through is ridiculous. And an argument that it's like that on Nintendo and Steam (Edit: Ok, I was wrong - Steam at least filters out AI slop and blatant knock-offs but there are still many 🗑 games being sold) doesn't work because it didn't use to be like that (at least not to such a degree) but "devs" get money, Sony gets money - everyone is happy, right?

Nothing against these games, but I feel like Minecraft, Fortnite, Roblox, and the like have been on my front page since getting a PS5 at launch. Why can't I see new stuff??

A "For You" page can mean many things. That's just silly bloat and should instead just show games related to another game you are looking at be it a genre or theme.
@@mistersamister PS3 XMB is still the best UI as far as OS in my opinion. Easy to front and center have folders with PS1, PS2, PS3 and PSP games. I wish we could have the option to do that on PS5. They have all of this bloat and they can't even allow us to put the date on the screen for some odd reason. They should give us more detailed customization options.
This is a good point and also there’s a weird issue with the deluxe vs standard editions as well I bought Battlefield 5 the other day ago and the standard edition was 40 dollars and deluxe was 1.99 lol. I had to look the game up a few times until I found the version that was on sale
Don't buy them. Everyone has a right to try and earn some $$. To help people who don't want them though, a feature of "never show me this game" would be useful.
@@g21122000 They just need a "never show me this again" option. Some of the quickest cheapest games have made a lot of money. Flappy Bird comes to mind.
The store can easily be simplified. All gamers need to see are - 'New' - 'PS Classics' - 'PS4 Collection' - 'PS5 Collection' - 'Deals' - 'Genre' - 'Demos' and let the gamers do what they need to with regards to search filters. I certainly don't want to be seeing drop down options within options within options or menus within menus within menus.
My pet peeve is when the store doesn't let you buy a variant edition of a game (say a Deluxe bundle game + DLCs) because you already have the base game through PS+.
We need an option to filter out games we already bought so we don’t have them taking up room when we’re browsing. Also would need an option to filter out games by Publisher/Developers, that would take care of the majority of shovelware. It would also be nice if we can look for dlc for games we have in the library without having to go through each game to see if they got an dlc in the first place.
This video helps prove why physical collecting is simply a better and more enjoyable experience. Also my hope for 2025 is more first party hybrid PSVR2 games!!
I completly agree about this issue. As an Analyst, this hits home. We are CONSTANTLY doing A/B testing in websites to get more engagement, more people complete checkout instead of abandoning their carts or webpage. With analytics, you can quickly identify where people are having a hard time flowing through the store and where most are getting frustrated and just exiting the store
Not only are you an analyst but your company cares to listen to you, apparently. Sony could have analysts, they certainly could afford them, however their business might be like "yeah the analysts aren't going to give us the profit margin that we are looking for so we will just ignore them for another couple of quarters." Why does the PS store still not let you search/browse by publisher/studio? Many little indie games I’ve enjoyed would benefit the most from this, would let me see if they made anything from the console instead of having to research on my phone
Sony needs to allow people to apply a filter at the PStore, that doesn’t show any game in your purchase history, same for PS+ games you have in your Library. That way all that would show up at the PStore for you would be games/DLC etc you don’t have to
I would LOVE this feature - it drives me crazy I can’t hide the games I already own when browsing the deals pages. Another improvement would be only show me DLC etc for games I own - I don’t care about 20 Sims packs, but I might buy an add-on for Sniper Elite, for example. My one outside wish would be the ability to hide games in the store, like you can in your library, so you’d never see games you aren’t interested in. With that and a purchased filter, that would be awesome.
@@mac1bc Because you _technically_ don't own them (even compared to digital purchases). Extra/Premium games become inaccessible when they leave the subscription and Essential games are only playable if you have an ongoing subscription. If your Plus runs out you can no longer play any of those games until you renew it.
The only thing you could do with a theme on PS5 is pretty much what the Anniversary update did and maybe change the button icons of the Home bar. Not really anything else you could change.
@@TheMeanArena At this point I'd settle for an option to change colours of the built-in theme like you could on PS3. It would pretty much only apply to settings and library screens but that's fine by me. I guess I'm weird but I like to change my wallpapers and themes every now and then on every device I use.
For all the multiple versions there should really just be a pop-up when that tile is selected to inform about the rest. Another issue I have is all the odd cases where a game is not shown. I have to go to show other versions on another version. Just have the all others at the bottom page of every game. Also, why not have a publisher or developer link from every game.
I also hate how there's a limit to how many games you can put on your wish list. I already have a bunch of stuff on there that's already out but there's a metric ton of amazing games coming out in 2025 that I added and I reached the limit for the first time
YES People be like: "Just buy games every now and then" I have 50 coming soon games in my wishlist. This is half of the list already that arent out yet and not everyone has money to buy many games every month too. Think somebody who just got their first playstation ever. Im sure he/she will not buy 100 games in one month but are looking to buy 100 games at some point
If you do the yearly subscription its $80 for ps plus essential so that's only $6 a month which isn't too bad and you still get all the other features too like the free games every month

It's still beyond me that we accepted that paying for online play is fine. I held onto my PS3 for so long because it was awesome to actually be able to play the games I bought any way I want.
The eShop is absolutely terrible, but PS5 isn't the best. I would put Steam as the gold standard for digital storefronts as far as usability and discoverability go.
They need to completely remove (not hide, remove) all the shovelware titles! It has absolutely gotten worse than it has with the Jumping games. There are hundreds of shovelware games that Sony has approved and are about to release in the Collections tab
Lawn Mowing Shovelware is one of the few simulator games that isn’t actually shovelware, it’s pretty easy to tell what is and isn’t shovelware too - there are like a dozen “developers” that make all the shovelware games

I’m glad we’re talking about this. It’s pretty tragic. I think Sony should make a hide feature so we could hide these shovelware/AI games and never have to see them again. They could then add a filter for “hide most hidden” so an aggregate of shovelware could be filtered out without Sony being responsible for “unfair practices” by not allowing a game to be added to their store. We can be the arbiters of taste.
I would like the option to filter out purchased content from sales, and the option to search for games by developer/publisher. Like in the e-shop where I can click Nintendo and it gives me a list of all Nintendo's games. Also let us blacklist developers/publishers so that we can filter out all the trash AI games.
I was only a massive ps3 and ps4 user as a PlayStation gamer and any time I try to navigate the ps5 store on my roommate's ps5 I become so confused and mind-numbed from the nonsensical filters and redundantly listed game titles. I used to spend hours looking at the ps3 store page back then hoping to find a new ps classic title released and can almost feel that same level of nostalgia when looking through the ps5's classic catalogue, but it feels not nearly as thoughtful with it's design. Especially when the titles in the catalogue are obviously not from the correct platform or they're just generational remasters. That shit killed me when I saw re3 remake on the ps1 catalogue for the first time since the original 3 is my most cherished game - like bro, sony, show some respect to the people that actually know a thing about legacy titles.
I don’t feel like the store is particularly well organized and have gotten into the habit of just adding everything that I’m interested in to my wish-list. I try and get my games physically as much as possible, so I’m not diving through the store too often. What I find most annoying is DLC being listed with full priced games.
Search function is also not great. So many times ill type out an entire game title and it won't put that game as the first result, it could be in the 5th tile or something. Also, trying to find different versions of games, like deluxe versions, expansions, DLC, etc. is also really not great either. Having it hidden behind that 3 dot button is really just not good for visibility.
I stopped buying digital games so that way I can get more physical ones and grow my collection but this’s another reason why cuz I don’t wanna have to look thru that shovelware mobile game shit
I agree with you Ryan on the lack of arrangement and organization with the backlog games; if you show a thumbnail breaking the consoles apart then only show those. I also have going through all the fluff from those games that nobody plays and have hundreds of DLC packs to find really good hidden gems at the tail bottom of the sale page.
In like 2015, Colin Moriarty had a sit-down interview with Adam Boyes where he asked him these exact same questions and was basically told he didn’t know what he was talking about. A decade later and it’s far worse!
PS5 is the only player I have for Blurays and it definitely leaves a lot to be desired. Add to that, the media remote is over-simplified to the point that it is less easy to use than a remote with more buttons.
Biggest annoyance is not being able to differentiate Extra and Deluxe (I'm Australian) from the 'permanent' Essential games... Especially as the subscription games just litter your collection, even after they leave the subscription.

Don’t forget always on 120hz and VRR on a system level like Xbox. That way we can have LFC on all games with better input lag for 60fps titles and no black screen handshake. Overwatch feels so much better at 60fps on series X where on PS5 you have to use 120fps since the 60fps modes have noticeable input lag for me.

The store is a mess. If I search by new releases and get most of the games are not actually new releases. It’s just frustrating and must be hard for small studios to get their games noticed.
the store is still such a mess. when that tcg shop game got popular there are so many clones of it with ai art. just searching tcg in the store gets you like 8 of those tcg shop simulator games. that's just ridiculous since i am pretty sure none of them are even from the same dev that made the pc game.
Hi! New Ps5 owner here (first ps i ever owned). Coming from a hardcore pc gaming setup (laptops, pc and hadhelds) the ps ui, harware, software and store experience is very refreshing. Sure Im not a veteran and those who own almost all the games already on their ps 4 makes the subscription seem overvalued. For me its gold. Just sharing my thoughts as a newbie into the ps world
The biggest issue I have with the store is the horrid amount of AI nonsense! They really need to outright deny these games. And these "devs" will have multiple entries on the store at once! Truly a shame on Sony's part, you don't need permission to take out the trash, just DO IT! At one point, I saw a legit architect designer game with an AI copy right next to it (in the wishlist section) and I'm pretty sure the publisher of the legit game changed their tile image to differentiate it from the imitator, as they had very similar tile images, color and all. I definitely see the logic with the pain points in your video but they need to address this AI stuff first. I feel like it's the most obvious.
The store is terrible to use. Why does the DLC for a game show up by default? The dlc should show up underneath the store page for the game like it does on Steam.
I agree fully. AI slop being the absolutely worst issue. Im so sick and tired of trying to window shop in the deals and its just everywhere. Sometimes i see something on my wishlist is on sale while scrolling so i get it, but when im seeing this ai trash then i just stop looking.
Great video Ryan! And to answer your question, i rarely use the PS store on console. I do 99% of my purchases and claiming of PS plus monthly games from the PS app on my phone. Just seems to be quicker as sometimes those tiles take a bit to load on console
Right now, I'm seeing a bunch of games in the "deals" section on PS4 that aren't even on sale. Bunch of EA titles and AI slop that's "always on sale" which I'm pretty sure they do to always be in that "deals" section. Start with an overpriced price, then slap a "50 or 60% off" sticker on there. Be forever on sale and hope people buy the wrong version of the game they're trying to actually buy. (I'm looking at you Super Market Manager & Liar's Lounge...) It will get worse.
I just wish the Playstation Store would add custom filter lists. I'd like to create a list of games I already own (either physically or digitally) and games I've looked at and don't want, then enable a filter to not show those items.
Yes this would be wonderful. Anything really to improve the relevance. The showing me DLC for a game that I don't own is of such low value to me, I mean it tells me that I could buy a costume, if I'm really into buying costumes. It's like such a preposterous customer profile that they're attempting to force through their search results, somebody who likes to buy costumes. When did I ever communicate that in my purchases, Sony? Anyhow, this is the state of modern technology unfortunately, ethics in software engineering is oftentimes not thought about because the entire software production Department includes a lot of people and it's just difficult not to be dysfunctional. So, much harder I think also as a large corporation like Sony to be smart, and act like a freaking human. Instead they just give us arbitrary search query results. Bleh
I don’t navigate the PS Store too much due to my preference for physical media, and whenever I go to the store, I already know what I’m lookin’ for. The problem absolutely exists tho, and I’d love if they changed the storefront.
PS5 store should by default and front and center all games listed from New to Old. They should not be bloating that with things that are not new. That makes the most sense. It's very convoluted. The "Latest" tab should go away. Each category be it games, demos or addons should by default be from New to Old which would show the latest. Yes instead of flooding a PS1, PS2, PS3 and PS4 collections tab with remakes, they should just have the original emulated versions. Maybe after clicking on the game for more info, they could have a small recommended box to show an "Also available" with the remake or remaster displayed. The store should also have the highest quality video streams for game previews and not be starting a video in a very low resolution.
The store desperately needs curation. The easy platinum shovelware games were a problem and while it's died down, they're being replaced by generic "____ Simulator" with that look like AI-generated cover art. It doesn't help us nor does it help honest game developers.
If there is one feature I like to see, is just able to read reviews on products instead of just seeing "stars" and able to see reviews after buying the product
You put it really well - The PSN Store is a mix of garbage, low-effort games I don't wanna see and the same old AAA stuff. They need to do a better job curating the crap out.
It would be great If Sony worked on keeping some games off the digital store due to them being like phone app free to play games. I hope they make more deals with some 3rd party companies to get rare games from older generations on the PlayStation store. Cool video. ^_^
I think their genre filter is too vague. Action and strategy could mean anything. If I want a turn based jrpg, or a tower defense game, I have to go through all strategy games
Putting the RE 2&3 Remakes with the ACTUAL PS1 classics is something that has to change. Also, Sony could be taking A LOT of cues from how Valve operates Steam, one of them you mentioned with written reviews for games where you can see someone's total playtime and Steam's refund policy which is known for being really good compared to the hoops you have to go through with the PS Store.
Agree. SONY has definitely missed sales from me due to the barely-managed store. I worked in ecom for ten years and psn is one of the worst-managed stores I've ever seen. The search barely works and results are limited to 128 items (good luck browsing for the Arcade Archives games). One of the latest Arcade Archives games isn't searchable or listed at all (Viper Phase 1) I'm playing it on a different platform. How many other games are missing? The search results aren't sortable or filterable. Classic games are "hidden" in the subscriptions area, and I agree that the categorization is messed up. The classic games aren't in collections and those collections don't seem to include classic games. Platform names aren't in search metadata - searching for PSP gets you a bunch of Police Simulator games (LOL) Sony has my purchase history and not only do they recommend genres I never play (like team sports), but they recommend games I already own.
the thing they need to fix more than anything is their studios. need more Japanese ones like Japan Studio, and fewer western ones like naughty dog or guerilla or all the live service slop ones they bought these past few years.

A feature I would love to see is another Steam feature. Gifting games to people. Make the process easier to give someone a game opposed to buying a gift card, giving the number to the person, the person then inputting the code and hoping they buy the game you told em to buy. Would help with sales. The PS star points could also go to either the buyer or the recipient with an option at checkout or something.

If you have trophies on your account for a game you should be allowed to rate it, not just because you buy it digital. Just another way they try to get you to buy digital, it's out of order
For me, the worst problem by far on the store it's the cases where you simply can't by an game because it's on Ps Plus Essential/Extra. I had this problem last month with FF7 Remake. I wanted to buy the game, but the option to buy wouldn't show, because i had Ps Plus. I tried all always possible, eveng removing licensing in Ps Support, nothing work. I only succeed in buying the game when the Ps Plus Expired. This problem happened in the past, with other titles.
In most circumstances, if you let your PS Plus expire (a year or whenever from now) then by that time when the game is on sale again it will be at an even lower price (rarely higher than current sale)

The only thing I can think is that it introduces complications with customer service they don't want to deal with (like an unreceived gift, an unwanted gift + a desire for a refund on the senders' part, etc.)

I'm sorry, but if a game has CLEAR AI SLOP IN THE THUMBNAIL, it should NOT be allowed on PlayStation Store. FULL STOP. If they couldn't even be bothered to make artwork for their game, what does that say about the quality of their product?
Full time indie dev here - Discovery is terrible on the console now. PS4 is slow but easier still at this point. The PS5 store is mostly a curated a list and that's it, but like you mentioned the AI art is flooding hard now. You said it perfectly, all you see on the store is basically the top tier and bottom tier stuff because it is releasing so often. I work hard on my smaller releases and they get buried now between all the asset flips, duplicate/clone releases, and AI games. My traffic used to be MUCH higher on both PS4 and PS5, but as the sea of those games have flooded in, our players have definitely decreased.
Completely agree with all points. It doesn't need a gigantic revamp, just needs better default view filters. More so for the sales showing multiple tiles (dlc)for the same product & the classic game collection
@@igsfs There was a bug (it had to be) where in a PSP catalog section there were games from Dark Pictures Anthology and some other PS4/5 games (but can't really remember others since it's been a while when I saw that - I think Uncharted 4 was there as well?) that were never in any shape or form released on that platform so at least it's not as bad.
I would like for them to add an option to delete trophies for games whenever. Not for when the game only has a 0% completion rate. Or even the option to disable trophies for games altogether.
Here's what you do, you make a special tab for shovelware where you put all the garbage like the jumping games, ai generated slop and Suicide Squad. Then you take all those games and rip them out of the store, and you stop accepting bottom of the bin trash. But before deleting the game you make physical copies of them and and burn them in a giant pile out of spite.
I’m not a PC gamer at all and never have been but I think the PS store should be like steam. On Steam there’s a review section games list and not big blocks scattered everywhere and in my opinion it’s not user friendly
PSN's categorization is horrendous, not helped further by the fact they ocassionally move around the layout. If it were up to me, the Collections tab should be renamed to "Categories", then immediately branch out into two options, Single-Player or Multiplayer. Then you can choose one and search, then it will only show results within the one you chose. Then the filters should let you choose the difference between "Indie", "AA", and "AAA", that way you could easily filter out the asset flip garbage in deals by choosing non-indie and THEN sorting by price lowest-to-highest. Additionally, they really have browsing the classic PS1 and PS2 titles hidden away. "Classic Titles" should be one of the first categories that show up on the categories tab.
Very often I just go to new releases and upcoming games only - pretty much never into the rest of the UI, because it's such a mess. Very nicely put into words what is the actual underlying issue.
One thing I can’t stand is when they call/put ps1 or ps2 games as “ps4/5” games. Hate that. Would love to be able to filter as ps1 or 2 or 3 and can actually see the games from those consoles
Haven't watched yet, but I'd be happy if the console warned me, like the PS3 and 4 do, when I attempt to launch a game while another one is already running

I hate that DLC and Deluxe editions are different pages. I wish each game had it's own page with DLC listed on it, just like on Steam.
This is a good point and also there’s a weird issue with the deluxe vs standard editions as well I bought Battlefield 5 the other day ago and the standard edition was 40 dollars and deluxe was 1.99 lol. I had to look the game up a few times until I found the version that was on sale

The store can easily be simplified. All gamers need to see are - 'New' - 'PS Classics' - 'PS4 Collection' - 'PS5 Collection' - 'Deals' - 'Genre' - 'Demos' and let the gamers do what they need to with regards to search filters. I certainly don't want to be seeing drop down options within options within options or menus within menus within menus.
My pet peeve is when the store doesn't let you buy a variant edition of a game (say a Deluxe bundle game + DLCs) because you already have the base game through PS+.

We need an option to filter out games we already bought so we don’t have them taking up room when we’re browsing. Also would need an option to filter out games by Publisher/Developers, that would take care of the majority of shovelware. It would also be nice if we can look for dlc for games we have in the library without having to go through each game to see if they got an dlc in the first place.
This video helps prove why physical collecting is simply a better and more enjoyable experience. Also my hope for 2025 is more first party hybrid PSVR2 games!!

I completly agree about this issue. As an Analyst, this hits home. We are CONSTANTLY doing A/B testing in websites to get more engagement, more people complete checkout instead of abandoning their carts or webpage. With analytics, you can quickly identify where people are having a hard time flowing through the store and where most are getting frustrated and just exiting the store

Sony needs to allow people to apply a filter at the PStore, that doesn’t show any game in your purchase history, same for PS+ games you have in your Library.
That way all that would show up at the PStore for you would be games/DLC etc you don’t have to

I would LOVE this feature - it drives me crazy I can’t hide the games I already own when browsing the deals pages. Another improvement would be only show me DLC etc for games I own - I don’t care about 20 Sims packs, but I might buy an add-on for Sniper Elite, for example.
My one outside wish would be the ability to hide games in the store, like you can in your library, so you’d never see games you aren’t interested in. With that and a purchased filter, that would be awesome.

@@mac1bc Because you _technically_ don't own them (even compared to digital purchases). Extra/Premium games become inaccessible when they leave the subscription and Essential games are only playable if you have an ongoing subscription. If your Plus runs out you can no longer play any of those games until you renew it.
The 2009 PS3 still is still superior. It was so quick and organized.

The only thing you could do with a theme on PS5 is pretty much what the Anniversary update did and maybe change the button icons of the Home bar. Not really anything else you could change.
@@TheMeanArena At this point I'd settle for an option to change colours of the built-in theme like you could on PS3. It would pretty much only apply to settings and library screens but that's fine by me. I guess I'm weird but I like to change my wallpapers and themes every now and then on every device I use.
For all the multiple versions there should really just be a pop-up when that tile is selected to inform about the rest.
Another issue I have is all the odd cases where a game is not shown. I have to go to show other versions on another version. Just have the all others at the bottom page of every game.
Also, why not have a publisher or developer link from every game.
I also hate how there's a limit to how many games you can put on your wish list. I already have a bunch of stuff on there that's already out but there's a metric ton of amazing games coming out in 2025 that I added and I reached the limit for the first time

If you do the yearly subscription its $80 for ps plus essential so that's only $6 a month which isn't too bad and you still get all the other features too like the free games every month

The eShop is absolutely terrible, but PS5 isn't the best. I would put Steam as the gold standard for digital storefronts as far as usability and discoverability go.
They need to completely remove (not hide, remove) all the shovelware titles! It has absolutely gotten worse than it has with the Jumping games. There are hundreds of shovelware games that Sony has approved and are about to release in the Collections tab

I’m glad we’re talking about this. It’s pretty tragic. I think Sony should make a hide feature so we could hide these shovelware/AI games and never have to see them again. They could then add a filter for “hide most hidden” so an aggregate of shovelware could be filtered out without Sony being responsible for “unfair practices” by not allowing a game to be added to their store. We can be the arbiters of taste.
I would like the option to filter out purchased content from sales, and the option to search for games by developer/publisher. Like in the e-shop where I can click Nintendo and it gives me a list of all Nintendo's games. Also let us blacklist developers/publishers so that we can filter out all the trash AI games.
I was only a massive ps3 and ps4 user as a PlayStation gamer and any time I try to navigate the ps5 store on my roommate's ps5 I become so confused and mind-numbed from the nonsensical filters and redundantly listed game titles.
I used to spend hours looking at the ps3 store page back then hoping to find a new ps classic title released and can almost feel that same level of nostalgia when looking through the ps5's classic catalogue, but it feels not nearly as thoughtful with it's design.
Especially when the titles in the catalogue are obviously not from the correct platform or they're just generational remasters.
That shit killed me when I saw re3 remake on the ps1 catalogue for the first time since the original 3 is my most cherished game - like bro, sony, show some respect to the people that actually know a thing about legacy titles.
An hide publisher button would be nice, gives people the choice if they want to see the slop or not.

I don’t feel like the store is particularly well organized and have gotten into the habit of just adding everything that I’m interested in to my wish-list. I try and get my games physically as much as possible, so I’m not diving through the store too often. What I find most annoying is DLC being listed with full priced games.
Search function is also not great. So many times ill type out an entire game title and it won't put that game as the first result, it could be in the 5th tile or something. Also, trying to find different versions of games, like deluxe versions, expansions, DLC, etc. is also really not great either. Having it hidden behind that 3 dot button is really just not good for visibility.
I stopped buying digital games so that way I can get more physical ones and grow my collection but this’s another reason why cuz I don’t wanna have to look thru that shovelware mobile game shit

I agree with you Ryan on the lack of arrangement and organization with the backlog games; if you show a thumbnail breaking the consoles apart then only show those.
I also have going through all the fluff from those games that nobody plays and have hundreds of DLC packs to find really good hidden gems at the tail bottom of the sale page.
In like 2015, Colin Moriarty had a sit-down interview with Adam Boyes where he asked him these exact same questions and was basically told he didn’t know what he was talking about. A decade later and it’s far worse!

PS5 is the only player I have for Blurays and it definitely leaves a lot to be desired. Add to that, the media remote is over-simplified to the point that it is less easy to use than a remote with more buttons.

Biggest annoyance is not being able to differentiate Extra and Deluxe (I'm Australian) from the 'permanent' Essential games... Especially as the subscription games just litter your collection, even after they leave the subscription.

Don’t forget always on 120hz and VRR on a system level like Xbox. That way we can have LFC on all games with better input lag for 60fps titles and no black screen handshake.
Overwatch feels so much better at 60fps on series X where on PS5 you have to use 120fps since the 60fps modes have noticeable input lag for me.

The store is a mess. If I search by new releases and get most of the games are not actually new releases. It’s just frustrating and must be hard for small studios to get their games noticed.

Hi! New Ps5 owner here (first ps i ever owned). Coming from a hardcore pc gaming setup (laptops, pc and hadhelds) the ps ui, harware, software and store experience is very refreshing.
Sure Im not a veteran and those who own almost all the games already on their ps 4 makes the subscription seem overvalued. For me its gold. Just sharing my thoughts as a newbie into the ps world
The biggest issue I have with the store is the horrid amount of AI nonsense! They really need to outright deny these games. And these "devs" will have multiple entries on the store at once! Truly a shame on Sony's part, you don't need permission to take out the trash, just DO IT!
At one point, I saw a legit architect designer game with an AI copy right next to it (in the wishlist section) and I'm pretty sure the publisher of the legit game changed their tile image to differentiate it from the imitator, as they had very similar tile images, color and all.
I definitely see the logic with the pain points in your video but they need to address this AI stuff first. I feel like it's the most obvious.

The store is terrible to use. Why does the DLC for a game show up by default? The dlc should show up underneath the store page for the game like it does on Steam.
I agree fully. AI slop being the absolutely worst issue. Im so sick and tired of trying to window shop in the deals and its just everywhere. Sometimes i see something on my wishlist is on sale while scrolling so i get it, but when im seeing this ai trash then i just stop looking.

And to answer your question, i rarely use the PS store on console. I do 99% of my purchases and claiming of PS plus monthly games from the PS app on my phone. Just seems to be quicker as sometimes those tiles take a bit to load on console

Right now, I'm seeing a bunch of games in the "deals" section on PS4 that aren't even on sale. Bunch of EA titles and AI slop that's "always on sale" which I'm pretty sure they do to always be in that "deals" section. Start with an overpriced price, then slap a "50 or 60% off" sticker on there. Be forever on sale and hope people buy the wrong version of the game they're trying to actually buy. (I'm looking at you Super Market Manager & Liar's Lounge...)

The showing me DLC for a game that I don't own is of such low value to me, I mean it tells me that I could buy a costume, if I'm really into buying costumes. It's like such a preposterous customer profile that they're attempting to force through their search results, somebody who likes to buy costumes. Anyhow, this is the state of modern technology unfortunately, ethics in software engineering is oftentimes not thought about because the entire software production Department includes a lot of people and it's just difficult not to be dysfunctional. PS5 store should by default and front and center all games listed from New to Old. They should not be bloating that with things that are not new. That makes the most sense. It's very convoluted. The "Latest" tab should go away. Each category be it games, demos or addons should by default be from New to Old which would show the latest.
Yes instead of flooding a PS1, PS2, PS3 and PS4 collections tab with remakes, they should just have the original emulated versions. Maybe after clicking on the game for more info, they could have a small recommended box to show an "Also available" with the remake or remaster displayed.
The store should also have the highest quality video streams for game previews and not be starting a video in a very low resolution.
The store desperately needs curation. The easy platinum shovelware games were a problem and while it's died down, they're being replaced by generic "____ Simulator" with that look like AI-generated cover art. It doesn't help us nor does it help honest game developers.
They should have different tabs between full games, dlc, packs, currency, etc.
I wish the store had a more items on the page option when I’m on Deals like the Xbox store. Cut my clicking down from 40 pages to 10 or 12. 😂

I think their genre filter is too vague. Action and strategy could mean anything. If I want a turn based jrpg, or a tower defense game, I have to go through all strategy games
Putting the RE 2&3 Remakes with the ACTUAL PS1 classics is something that has to change. Also, Sony could be taking A LOT of cues from how Valve operates Steam, one of them you mentioned with written reviews for games where you can see someone's total playtime and Steam's refund policy which is known for being really good compared to the hoops you have to go through with the PS Store.

Sony has my purchase history and not only do they recommend genres I never play (like team sports), but they recommend games I already own.

A feature I would love to see is another Steam feature. Gifting games to people. Make the process easier to give someone a game opposed to buying a gift card, giving the number to the person, the person then inputting the code and hoping they buy the game you told em to buy. Would help with sales. The PS star points could also go to either the buyer or the recipient with an option at checkout or something.

AI made job simulator games!!!!! The bane of my existence
For me, the worst problem by far on the store it's the cases where you simply can't by an game because it's on Ps Plus Essential/Extra. I had this problem last month with FF7 Remake. I wanted to buy the game, but the option to buy wouldn't show, because i had Ps Plus. I tried all always possible, eveng removing licensing in Ps Support, nothing work. I only succeed in buying the game when the Ps Plus Expired. This problem happened in the past, with other titles.
In most circumstances, if you let your PS Plus expire (a year or whenever from now) then by that time when the game is on sale again it will be at an even lower price (rarely higher than current sale)

The only thing I can think is that it introduces complications with customer service they don't want to deal with (like an unreceived gift, an unwanted gift + a desire for a refund on the senders' part, etc.)

Full time indie dev here - Discovery is terrible on the console now. PS4 is slow but easier still at this point. The PS5 store is mostly a curated a list and that's it, but like you mentioned the AI art is flooding hard now. You said it perfectly, all you see on the store is basically the top tier and bottom tier stuff because it is releasing so often. I work hard on my smaller releases and they get buried now between all the asset flips, duplicate/clone releases, and AI games. My traffic used to be MUCH higher on both PS4 and PS5, but as the sea of those games have flooded in, our players have definitely decreased.

@@igsfs There was a bug (it had to be) where in a PSP catalog section there were games from Dark Pictures Anthology and some other PS4/5 games (but can't really remember others since it's been a while when I saw that - I think Uncharted 4 was there as well?) that were never in any shape or form released on that platform so at least it's not as bad.
I would like for them to add an option to delete trophies for games whenever. Not for when the game only has a 0% completion rate. Or even the option to disable trophies for games altogether.
Here's what you do, you make a special tab for shovelware where you put all the garbage like the jumping games, ai generated slop and Suicide Squad. Then you take all those games and rip them out of the store, and you stop accepting bottom of the bin trash. But before deleting the game you make physical copies of them and and burn them in a giant pile out of spite.
I’m not a PC gamer at all and never have been but I think the PS store should be like steam. On Steam there’s a review section games list and not big blocks scattered everywhere and in my opinion it’s not user friendly

If it were up to me, the Collections tab should be renamed to "Categories", then immediately branch out into two options, Single-Player or Multiplayer. Then you can choose one and search, then it will only show results within the one you chose.
Then the filters should let you choose the difference between "Indie", "AA", and "AAA", that way you could easily filter out the asset flip garbage in deals by choosing non-indie and THEN sorting by price lowest-to-highest.
Additionally, they really have browsing the classic PS1 and PS2 titles hidden away. "Classic Titles" should be one of the first categories that show up on the categories tab.
Very often I just go to new releases and upcoming games only - pretty much never into the rest of the UI, because it's such a mess. Very nicely put into words what is the actual underlying issue.
The console store's issues mean I now prefer to use the PS App on my phone and the Download to Console button.
One thing I can’t stand is when they call/put ps1 or ps2 games as “ps4/5” games. Hate that. Would love to be able to filter as ps1 or 2 or 3 and can actually see the games from those consoles
At the start of the video, i noticed there are 2 Jack and Daxter icons on the home screen. Is the same game installed twice?

I wish Sony would not include games I had already purchased. Let me see games that’s on sale that I haven’t purchased already.
I just wish you could save your sorts because they go back to default when you leave the store or your library.
Sony has to make possible to send gifts and change region on PS Store!
Haven't watched yet, but I'd be happy if the console warned me, like the PS3 and 4 do, when I attempt to launch a game while another one is already running
Somethin’ so small would be appreciated, but it kinda only seems like an extra button press. Not sayin’ it wouldn’t be beneficial.
@MyManJFKTV Could exist as an option, it's been several times that I forget I have a game running and lose progress because of it, it's not a huge issue but I was just so used to it on PS3 and 4
And to have a symbol under the game icon like on PS4 to indicate that it's running on the menu.
We need an option to hide games from devs we don't trust or care about in the store

Collections would be a fantastic idea. It's like how steam does recommendations and collections.
It could be a way to get us to engage in the store and caring about the store, us who have opinions about shopping for video games.
It's an opportunity, Sony is not listening...
