  • This is a rare and exceptionally special tour through one of the world’s most historic buildings.
    Step back in time with this exclusive virtual tour of Sir Robert Falcon Scott's Terra Nova Hut at Cape Evans in Antarctica. This video shows the remarkable dwelling that served as the base for Scott's ill-fated Terra Nova Expedition to the South Pole in 1910-1913.
    From the cramped living quarters to the meticulously preserved artifacts, every corner of the hut tells a story of endurance, scientific discovery, and ultimate tragedy. Rare footage and photos are shown of the hut’s stables which supported ponies and dogs during the expedition.
    Seen here are the provisions, and personal belongings left behind by Scott and his team, offering poignant glimpses into their hopes, dreams, and struggles.
    Through immersive footage and expert commentary, this video offers a rare opportunity to peer into the past and gain a deeper understanding of one of the most iconic chapters in polar exploration. Join us as we unravel the mysteries of Scott's Terra Nova Hut and pay tribute to the brave souls who ventured into the unknown in the name of science and adventure.
    May their legacy live on.

    In South Africa, in the city of Pretoria, in the area of Queenswood, there was a high school called Clapham High School. The school was for a thousand students, divided into 4 "houses". However, as it grew larger and gained more scholars it required a 5th "house", and as such around the year 2008 the 5th house of Evans was added to the school and was coloured purple; joining the previous 4 houses of Wilson (red), Scott (yellow), Oates () and Bowers ().
    (Blue and green, I can't remember which one was which)

    I have a couple questions number one why was that poor dog not buried and monument put up for him. Certainly, he was one of the first dogs to Antarctica .
    Did the dog die during the time they were there and for some reason they literally didn’t bury the dog I’m I can’t imagine just leaving him there.
    At first, I thought maybe his caretaker died leaving him to starve in the back of the stable, but why was he not with the rest of the team if they got out I can’t imagine a dog on or not burying their dog

    • @krumpingchihuahua
      @krumpingchihuahua 13 часов назад

      I don't know exactly how they treated the dogs during the terra nova expedition, but if they did it similar to Amundsen, they had the dogs run free frequently. And yeah some dogs just run off or hide get lost etc, I would suspect that something like that might have happened with the dog.
      Edit: I am not sure, but there is also a chance that the dog was from Shackleton's Ross sea party for his imperial trans Antarctic Expedition
