Literally breaks my heart to see japan so empty, I was just in Osaka last year and it was so different back then.. was supposed to visit again this April but had to cancel my travel plans and I’m still so upset I missed japan this year! Thank you for the video which really takes me down memory lane, there is no other country I want to fly to except for japan once this annoying COVID is over for good!!!
Same but i left at of the begining of this year, this place was soooo packed with ppl. Miss Osaka n Kyoto Shinichi talkin about nanpa culture i got nanpa by a girl but she didnt realise i wasnt Japanese then she tried too guess where im from im polynesian she just said Allblacks lol
Osaka was the first place I ever travelled by myself. I met some really amazing friends there and loved it. It was also my first visit to Japan and Osaka will always be my #1 Japanese City.
This is one of my fave videos. Love the back alleys and hidden little shops and shrine. Osaka seems like a very culture rich and artistic place. One thing I always look forward when travelling alone is the hidden spots. Usually these places have the best aesthetic & stories.
Your videos are also good for learning manners from how you interact with people there like learning what to say for greeting or when we want to buy something or how to overall speak politely and when to use which greetings.
It's always interesting to walk with you, Shinichi! I loved your discovery at the end of the video of all the shops and bars down the side street. There's always something new. Sadly, I've never had takoyaki, but I'm sure I would love it. Stay safe and well. ❤️
Like so many of your viewers whose Japan trips were interrupted, I cannot wait to travel to Japan again. Your video brought back memories of getting lost in the Namba/Dotonbori area. Had no idea where we had wandered to and had to ask several people how to get back to Namba Station!
this is the very first place I visit when I went to Japan for the first time, it is a very touristy place, but it is very very beutiful and nice. and I think this is what many westerners think when they visit japan, place full of neons and wacky robots
Absolutely loved the walk through the side street with the history! So interesting! Also totally relate to how bizarre it is right now. I live in Washington DC and in comparison the tourist areas are like a ghost town. I keep reminding myself over and over that we are in the middle of a pandemic...but it’s still sooooo weird.
Thanks for the virtual tour Shinichi. I am living vicariously through you since we cannot travel to Japan this year. Looking forward to your Dotombori video!
Great video of Osaka!i want to go to the all you can eat Crab! 🦀🦀🦀 I love crab! 😋 Thank you for sharing Shinichi, one dat it’s my dream to go back to Japan! 🙏🏽💜😘 Stsy safe TIL we see you again!
I've done something like Takoyaki before. I am a volunteer at "Lebenshilfe" (Lifesupport), a non-profit organization that takes care of people with disabilities. But we used a cake pop maker. We filled it with everything we liked. It was great fun for my group.
Love this vid. I was at Dotonburi just last year during Xmas. It’s quite shocking to see how different it is now. I also tried the takoyaki place by the river and it was decent. Next time, i will try my luck at the ferris wheel and the udon restaurant you’ve recommended. Stay safe and continue exploring and eating.
Thank you 🙏 Shinichi it makes me feel warmer watching you out and about in Osaka. You must definitely be warmer in Okinawa, I hope you are enjoying your time? ✌️ 💖 🙏 Levent 🦁
Hello Shinichi. I love sidestreets😊. Some are hidden gems. Thank you so much to take us for a walk. I must say it is so strange to see the streets so empty.
I miss Osaka! The food, the people and the atmosphere. I enjoyed watching the video, it was nice to be able to live vicariously thorough you. I was hoping to visit again this year but sadly it was not possible and your video definitely helps. I look forward to the next video.
I kept repeating to myself too but it is REALLY sad and depressing seeing how empty Dotonbori is. When I went last year it was shoulder-to-shoulder traffic, standing around long lines for street food or waiting to be seated in a restaurant. I really hope those businesses survive long enough to take in tourists again.
I want to go to Osaka one day. Beautiful city. Great video. BTW, I discovered your (and Satoshi's) videos from that previous Osaka video you mentioned.
The food looked amazing, but it couldn't compare to the view that you filmed of the river with the lights reflecting on the glassy calm water with the three tone sky in the background. Awesome shot.
Thanks for this feature of present day Dotonbori. I usually stay at that area during my vacay. I misss Japan terribly. I usually go at least 2x/year for leisure. Greetings from Manila, Philippines. Stay safe, Shinichi
Even though, I have been to Osaka 2 times but the area you show, I had never seen, how come? ha ha There still be many places to explore. Wow!!☺️☺️ Thanks so much.
omg I never thought it would be this empty...seeing japan like this feel so weird and truly heartbreaking for me, hope its already getting better especially for all those business!
Awesome vlog Shinichi I felt like I was right there with you ! You look very handsome in this one !!! Thank you for brightening up so many peoples lives !! Hugs from Arizona!!
Even though there is not alot of people, you were able to show how your favorite area looks and we can see it better without the crowds ;) glad you enjoyed your meal (nice to vary up a favorite :)) ... I love that little hidden street and the cobblestone area -- that was very nice .... thank you for the video, look forward to the next one :)
when you first pick up your takoyaki poke a hole in the top of each with a chopstick, that's what I do and it helps let the heat out (is my favorite food)
I would love to visit Dotonbori when its really empty like this. Went there first time in 2007 it was similar to this, and the last time we visit (Jan this year) it was so full of tourist! Anyway, I would love to be able to visit Japan for the 6th time 😁👍 Hopefully next year? On a side note, that Takoyaki place doesn't have a Japanese people working there. Mostly Thai or Vietnamese. It was a surprise to see an actual Japanese worker there. 😊 And... Shinichi-san, did you know you get more than what you paid for? I think in the menu it says 6 pieces?
I might be wrong, but I think after they removed the neon lights from the Glico sign it doesn’t light up at night anymore. I remember taking video of it at night when it still had neon illumination, but when I tried again a couple of years ago, after the change, I waited for it to light up but it never happened 😥
I do really enjoy your night walks. Arigato Can you show us a shrine, one of the small ones that are all over the place. Why are there so many. What do they go there.
Ohhhh i went too that same taikoyaki stand 😊 awwwww i ate 50 it was yum then they told me there is comp if you can eat 100 too 200 tako you win a prize i could eaten 100 bt i got drunk i just got up n walked off oppsy, Seeing it so empty it good n bad.. miss Osaka n Kyoto Okini.. 😊
So sad to see a restaurant empty, when you walked and went upstairs to the 1st takoyaki restaurant, I had mixed feelings, so good you're the only one there, cause then you know you're safe and cant get the corona, but sad at the same time, cause it's empty...not used to be the same.... oh gosh I wish pandemic ends and so all of us can go back to normal, I think we all have learned our lesson, Family and friends are important, being clean is important, spending time w/ people is important, and so on and so forth, but I really hope pandemic ends... 2021 should be new and improved earth and earthlings.
Osaka is very empty because there are no foreign tourists. The area might be busier on the weekend. Were you there midweek? Rion Ishida was in Tokyo when you were in Osaka. He found Tokyo very crowded. He's back in Osaka now and I think you're back home in Tokyo. Mikey Chen is locked down in a 14 day quarantine in South Korea. Say a prayer that he's getting decent food...
I miss Osaka! The food, the people and the atmosphere. I enjoyed watching the video, it was nice to be able to live vicariously thorough you. I was hoping to visit again this year but sadly it was not possible and your video definitely helps. I look forward to the next video.
This was so much fun! Thank you again! My question is...there are so many lights there...what does electricity cost??😂🤣 it's expensive here in Costa Rica that's why I ask...😁😁💕
I noticed on the bridge a man sitting with a homemade sign. I assume he is begging. I don't remember seeing that when we were there last year. Is this new? Or did I not notice?
Literally breaks my heart to see japan so empty, I was just in Osaka last year and it was so different back then.. was supposed to visit again this April but had to cancel my travel plans and I’m still so upset I missed japan this year! @@shenglongisback4688 that's cute ☺️. I was there too in the new year, btw that wasn't me...lol..cos I live in the All Black-land.
I visited last summer too and had to cancel my plans for July. I'm scared to fly and Japan is the only place that can get me on a plane.
@@verah971 lol i.just got what you meant by All-Black land
@@shenglongisback4688 ☺️
"I am lost. I'm back to my normal self." I've never heard something I relate to more. Send help. LOL
I loved Osaka. It was great fun. I stayed at a business hotel by that shrine. Thanks for this one!

It's always interesting to walk with you, Shinichi! I loved your discovery at the end of the video of all the shops and bars down the side street. There's always something new.
Sadly, I've never had takoyaki, but I'm sure I would love it. Stay safe and well. ❤️
Thank you so much for walking us around. Missing Japan. Indeed, a beautiful place. God bless you.
I find this so interesting I am loving every minute of this. You are very informative. Thanks again.
It was so nice to be back in Osaka. Absolutely insane seeing it so empty though, especially that ramen place wow. Thank you for bringing us along ❤️❤️
Like so many of your viewers whose Japan trips were interrupted, I cannot wait to travel to Japan again. Your video brought back memories of getting lost in the Namba/Dotonbori area. Had no idea where we had wandered to and had to ask several people how to get back to Namba Station!
Everytime I watch ur video l learn something new thank you for sharing this with me ❤️
Love these videos! Wish I had a favorite takoyaki shop. None around me.

I love takoyaki! Thanks for showing the side streets, my favorite areas too.

Can wait to watch the video
OMG Creo-Ru has the best Takoyaki out of the lot on Dotonbori! Miss Osaka so much!
Charming cobblestone streets!

I was walking through these streets exactly one year ago. Heart aching to think I can't visit Japan anytime soon..
Thanks for this feature of present day Dotonbori. I usually stay at that area during my vacay. I misss Japan terribly. I usually go at least 2x/year for leisure. Greetings from Manila, Philippines. Stay safe, Shinichi

I love the Takoyaki in Osaka. Crispy on the outside and soft inside like scrambled eggs. Another good place to eat Udon is at Mimiu Honten.
omg I never thought it would be this empty...seeing japan like this feel so weird and truly heartbreaking for me, hope its already getting better especially for all those business!
Ahhhh I would have loved to see you collab with Rion Ishida, in Osaka!
🤩🤩🤩
Miss it, Love to go back soon.
I'll be in Japan in April... I can't wait.
I'm big fan of seafood, I want me some Takoyaki now 😋😋😋
I kinda want to visit osaka more than tokyo, so these vids are cool, you should tell more stories about living there and why did you move there
Good memories! I was there last dec. Cold and nice.
I just wanted to step through my monitor and be there, lol. I loveee takoyaki. Osaka is amazing. ^.^
Awesome vlog Shinichi I felt like I was right there with you ! You look very handsome in this one !!! Thank you for brightening up so many peoples lives !! Hugs from Arizona!!
My wife reminded me that Sotenbori from the Yakuza video games is based on Dōtonbori. I kept seeing familiar things that are in the games.
i also had a photo of Mr Glico on the background, didn't do the same pose though 😆 I miss Osaka ❤️ specially binge eating takoyaki
I did enjoyed watching ur vedio.

So sad. We were there about three years ago, it was bustling. We will be back, eventually, once travel is safe
seems like every country has a pickup section lol xinmen ding in Taipei taiwan is or used to be a hot pickup section. happened to me before lol
Your haircut looks really nice! 👍

Ohhh I was lucky!
Thank you for sharing! That was fun!
That area of japan remind me of new York City
Hope Osaka gets back to normal soon
Love your Video. Shinichi, We are still in a pandemic around the world. Here in Europe the borders are closing again. Not much traveling to Japan now.
Every year (when I can) I go to Shinsaibashi so I can hate myself. :) There's a nice tiny taproom I found there too! Stand Umineko is great!
woow I had Takoyaki at the first stop you went to and it was so good. Sad to see it so empty :(
I might be wrong, but I think after they removed the neon lights from the Glico sign it doesn’t light up at night anymore. I remember taking video of it at night when it still had neon illumination, but when I tried again a couple of years ago, after the change, I waited for it to light up but it never happened 😥
Shinichi! Would be cool to see you do a vollab with Rion Ishida! Thanks for the cool tour of dotonbori!!
great video as always !! thank you
I do really enjoy your night walks. Arigato Can you show us a shrine, one of the small ones that are all over the place. Why are there so many. What do they go there.

Kyoto Okini.. 😊
TakOSAKA!!!! 🐙🐙❤
I'm worried about the businesses in Japan, too. And here. 🥺
Are there foods like takoyaki that you can’t get in the winter??
So sad to see a restaurant empty, when you walked and went upstairs to the 1st takoyaki restaurant, I had mixed feelings, so good you're the only one there, cause then you know you're safe and cant get the corona, but sad at the same time, cause it's empty...not used to be the same.... oh gosh I wish pandemic ends and so all of us can go back to normal, I think we all have learned our lesson, Family and friends are important, being clean is important, spending time w/ people is important, and so on and so forth, but I really hope pandemic ends... 2021 should be new and improved earth and earthlings.
@undWallace from Twitter thanks you...love to watch you travel....xxxooo!🍽🥂
We call those stones flagstones, cobblestones hav a much rougher surface and are brick size.
Osaka is very empty because there are no foreign tourists. The area might be busier on the weekend. Were you there midweek? Rion Ishida was in Tokyo when you were in Osaka. Octopus dumplings sounded interesting.
Tourist usually took pictures with glico sign...what is behind glico sign? why is it popular?
😊
Honest question:
Why is it "takoyaki" *octopus fried* but "yakisoba" *fried soba* (noodle)? Why not "yakitako"?
I miss Osaka! The food, the people and the atmosphere. I enjoyed watching the video, it was nice to be able to live vicariously thorough you. I was hoping to visit again this year but sadly it was not possible and your video definitely helps. I look forward to the next video.
Enjoying 💗
お疲れ様です。酔っ払いでなければもっとお話したかったです。またliveを楽しみにしてます。
This was so much fun! Thank you again! My question is...there are so many lights there...what does electricity cost??😂🤣 it's expensive here in Costa Rica that's why I ask...😁😁💕
Been here in 2013 it was super crowded.
is it better to go there in the morning or at night?
I noticed on the bridge a man sitting with a homemade sign. I assume he is begging. I don't remember seeing that when we were there last year. Is this new? Or did I not notice?
I heard that "takoyaki" is also used as a generic term for the type of food, even if a different filling.
