all you younguns complaining about country artists...well, you can't get no more backwoods than I am and I am telling ya now, country ain't just music, it's a way of life, either you live it or claim it, but us real folks out in the sticks know better...the roots of our raising tell us...so I'll leave it here....honey hush
I grew up in Louisiana and North Carolina, now im all the way in Texas dang it. I'v known country all my life, i claim it and sing it, if you ain't country.. then... it's harder. Country can be wild and free (sometimes) if you live in the right places like i do, you can shoot a gun, go huntin' just enjoy your self, then when you get to work, you can be your self, but get the job done. my daddy taught me to get the job done and get out. then he would take me out in his truck an i would drive some
you got that shit right what happend to country music its so sad all the greats mr. cash. porter wagner. all of the true country ledgens what do you think they would say about what happend to country
that's cool i was just curious. i happen to be from nebraska and was lucky enough to be raised on a farm. it was before my time, but i was raised on and love merle, waylon, and willie. i agree with you though, country music isn't the same anymore. the new stuff is just full of artists trying to prove to you how country they are but just come off as clueless. keep playin the good stuff and God bless
I live way out in the country in Arkansas...my faves are merle, loretta and conway, and some of the new ones can hit a pretty good tune but it seems to me it's more about how pretty they can look in their boots and cut off jeans than the reality of being country...I grew up and now raise my own kids the way I was, working, learning to do for yourself instead of expecting others to and the first step to respect is self respect..I don't intentionally try to hurt anyone's feelings but it happens
only brantley's commonly heard songs like grits, country must be country wide, and kickin it in the sticks, and a few other are rock influenced but if you listen to songs like you promised, my kind of party, play me that song, fall into me, picture on the dashboard, and a lot others are more country influenced songs.
This boy has a beautiful voice!!! I have several of his songs thay may never be heard anywhere and that is a shame. This song should have been recorded and released. He is a great writer and singer. His "Tisher" turned me on to his music and I love it.
hell yeah, great song, lets bring those hard country, beer drinking ,train riding songs, about heartache and pain.keeep singing til they play it again boys.,
yes a love all the old artist to but there are some new country singers thats real like brantley gilbert, eric church, justin moore, and i know yall going to disagrre but idc and jason aldean.and if you go back to the 60's and 70's you will alot of songs back then that sounds like pop so it just anit todays music.and i know yall thank hes pop but if so hes the pop country singer i like keith urban.hes music has steel gutair, banjos so it feels country.!!!!!!!!!!
@carrollkicker17 just cause someone has a "twang" does not make them country, its not how you sound, or what you look like, its the way you live, what you feel, and the fact or fictional stories that you can depict in your songs of real events youve been through, or have been around, some of yall need some keith whitley in your life, country from the 80's and 90's or some texas country, i appreciate originality and so many of todays artists lack that no matter what genre
@Hicktown125 Brantley is Southern Rock/Country Apparently you Aint herd all his tunes, Not everything is Southern Rock, "You Don't Know her like i do" for One,
@Hicktown125 Whenever you start arguing music, its pointless, everyone has their own tastes. I'd say its up tot he artist to decide what genre to put the music in.
You are sadly mistaken my friends if you think that country is only one thing or one group of people. music is like an open contract it changes!, don't get me wrong there are some limitations such as genres. but not just Cash, Hank, Jennings, etc. Are only country yah you might like them better and I agree they are good but I like Jason, Justin, Josh, luke, etc just as much! And they are just as much country as the old ones or other ones
Hank sr. was around before rock therefore no it didnt originate from rock it came from bluegrase and folk and each heneration had a twist that went along.someway with a popular theme
Joco dippernc....Hank sr. WAS rock back in the days he performed his kind of music was considered rock it wasnt untill later in the 50s when other artists came around and gave rock a new twist that Hank fll into country category ......and i wouldnt say country is influenced by lynyrd skynyrd as skynyrd is a southern rock group witch southern rock and country are very similar rock and country are similar as the main indtrument in both genres is a guitar as to pop being primarily vocals
@usmc2083 brantly is not country he is a rocker, justin and josh have real nice twangs. and lets be real, there will never be another waylor, cash, or hank.
i can see how they could think that way though. good deal though, trashville blows. i wish waylon was here to remind these people of what country music is spose to be
its called being original... FGL is doing something that hasnt been done and they will be remembered for it... Easton Corbin is doing something thats been done and will quickly fade away and be forgotten... Dont put music in a box man, it will limit your creativity... we dont all need to be George Strait and release the same damn album every year that only sells because of the name on the front.. whats it matter what label it falls under... nobody is stopping you from listening to the classics?
Country is better now than its ever been... artists like Eric Church, Brantley, FGL, Thomas Rhett... the guys who tell nashville to go to hell and stay out of their creativity in music making
the ones to follow the rules are the ones that fade away.. the ones who separate themselves from the rest are the ones who are remembered.. its not about how many radio hits or sellout crowds an artist has.. its about the music.. Eric Church may not have a bunch of number one hits, but i believe without a doubt he will be in the county hall of fame because his attitude and approach hes taken throughout his career which makes him legend in the making.. He'll be remembered for "breaking the rules"
Country music has changed, but not so much to call taylor and carrie and lady A country. There may never be another Hank, or Waylon, or Cash, so now we just have to determine who is "real country." I mean i love brantley, not because hes considered country, but because i like his sound. So theres no real definition of country these days, but it sure isnt the three at the top. Justin, Josh, Jamey, hell id even put brantley there
Your right because most everyone on that list aint country. There all rock and roll people who couldnt cut it doing rock and roll. And Justin Moore is probably the biggest offender of them all..... the "laundry list" songs are getting real old. Remember, if you gotta make a list of shit trying to prove yourself to be "country" chances are good you aren't.
1st verse actually reminds me of David Allen Coe's "perfect country and western song" can tell he has a lot of inspiration from david, willie, and waylon,
Folks. i think we gotta take "modern country" for what its worth. its modern no matter how close to the classic country sound they try to be. Its just that. modern. and its not going to go away so you listen to either classic country or modern stuff. you cant expect the sound to go back in time. hell most of the old country guys are dead now anyway.
That may be true but most this trash they call country now lacks one very important thing, heart, the real singers that actually sing from the heart and with emotion are kept out of the spotlight for some odd reason. Florida Georgia Line. Luke Bryan, all them need to crawl back into whatever hole they crawled out of.
Rock is acceptable in country not pop. Seeing as how country is very influenced by Lynyrd Skynyrd and other southern rock band. It's about staying true to a rootsy sound: country, blues, rock, folk.
haha I would gladly live in the 1950's! That's when men were men not some sissy singing to every teenage girl out there! I'll keep my country roots, you can have fun the pop music they call "country"
@Ohliv291 well everyones real... you could argue that Some like Taylor, Carrie, Lady A, should not be in the genre... but that wouldnt allow Brantley Gilbert to be in country either.... Brantley is just as much rock influenced as Taylor is to pop... i love Brantley and hate Taylor but what your saying doesnt make all that much sense...
Lyndell Morris and Trapping The Mitten, Who's Eric Church? One of the best new COUNTRY artists out there, including artist like Josh Thompson, Justin Moore, Jamey Johnson and even Blake Shelton. They all are REAL, not trying to be somebody they aint. Kenny Chesney, Florida Georgia line, ect are not country and I agree with that.... Thompson, Moore, Johnson, Shelton, they sing what is true to them like Cash and Jones did back in the day. Its called modern country, keeping what country is left in music alive. Don't fuckin get on here and listen to it if you don't like it. Have a good day.
Eric Church's voice is horrible, he doesn't even bend notes, which is called singing with feeling and emotion, which these singers today lack!!!! You obviously don't hear a difference between them, and great singers?? Fans like you are the reason Country Music is in the shape it's in. They're mediocre at best!! I can't believe you compared Blake Shelton to Jones! LMFAO you have no clue about great Country Music singers!! Those guys aren't even a pimple on the great singer's ass!!! So don't fuckin get on here and talk about something you obviously don't understand. You have a god day.
Haha Blake Shelton publicly admitted selling out country music. Sure he had some good stuff when he was new, but I wouldn't give you a quart of cold piss for him now. He said he would rather make money than make country.
I posted this video a few years ago, I have some things to say.. Traditional country is just a label that everyone "likes to like", meaning that im not sure anyone really digs the genre.. its boring and obsolete.. There are some artists who have taken that and made it original.. artists like Eric Church, Brantley, FGL, ZBB.. these guys are not traditional but they are all there own artists who are not just another George Strait claiming to be a cowboy.. Country has changed for the better..
Sing it brother, country music the way its supposed to be aint no fairy tales or white horse bull shit just music thats cuts straight through the bull shit
im not trying to argue with you ...but all the guys you mentioned play the game ...they are talented writers ...but they kiss the right asse's dont think for one min ..they don't ...none of the guys you mentioned told Nashville to go to hell ...Hank III ? -Yes ...shooter ? no he's a whiner making vids with bucky covington then bitching about being set aside ...theres' some Rebels but it sure as hell aint the ones' you mentioned...sorry ..just setting record strait...bro
we dont need any more traditional country... its nothing but the same 3 chord love songs over and over again... we have millions of them, why keep making that same music?
I didnt say i liked pop.. i just dont think you can put music in a box.. it limits your creativity... the greatest artists are the ones who broke the rules of country.. Cash, Waylon, Willie, and even Eric Church... these guys will be remembered for doing something that has never been done and they wont just be though of as "just another guy along the way like Alan Jackson an Mark Chesnutt...
I actually have been listening for a long time... I used to be a huge George Jones, Strait, Hag, Buck Ownes... fan until i realized that these guys were doing nothing orginal... they were "following the rules" of a genre thats been established for decades... why should we keep recording the same shit thats been done for the last 40+ years? Look into some of the 1000's of un heard george strait tracks on some random album of his and listen to some "new music"... we dont need to making it...
i dissagree rock goes with country hand in hand there brother and sister pop and country are like that 3rd cousin that only see each other at family reunions
They are original. All of these new guys sound the same. I like Eric Church because hes got some bluesy tones, but 99% of the new artists are cookie-cutters. They all sound like pop. Country music should never have computer generated sounds. Luke Bryan, FGL, Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, etc. all are not my cup of tea. I'll take some steel guitar and a songs that have meaning not "stacking some bails"
Who's Eric Church???? I know real singers like Whitley, Jones, Gosdin, Singletary, and Mellons. NOT ONE singer today, can hold a candle to these guys, they sing circles around them!!!!
ive listened to as much classic country as anyone and i can honestly say that its very boring and not original. I only listen to outlaws such as Cash, Willie, Waylon... everything else is mediocre and poorly written and sounds the same. We have an overload of millions of classic country songs from the last 50 years that have never even been heard, so why do we have to keep making more of what we already have too much of? Id rather listen to something more original like Eric Church
well i know for a fact you have not heard every single George Jones song, so if you like steel guitar, then knock yourself out... go live in the 1950s while the rest of us listen to some cool new country rock tunes... because I like my country rockin how 'bout you? - EC
that is a load of bullshit. Country music is in the worst state it's ever been. FGL is even close to what Country should be. have you listened listened to Cruise w/ Nelly or whoever the hell he is? That is not fuckin Country music man. although I will agree with you that Eric Church, Thomas Rhett and Brantley are good.
Real country music as country music should sound. Damn good job.
all you younguns complaining about country artists...well, you can't get no more backwoods than I am and I am telling ya now, country ain't just music, it's a way of life, either you live it or claim it, but us real folks out in the sticks know better...the roots of our raising tell us...so I'll leave it here....honey hush

only brantley's commonly heard songs like grits, country must be country wide, and kickin it in the sticks, and a few other are rock influenced but if you listen to songs like you promised, my kind of party, play me that song, fall into me, picture on the dashboard, and a lot others are more country influenced songs.

Check out Jamey Johnson and Chris Knight.
@caleb4387 Sorry to break it to you but Brantley Gilbert sings country music, some of his songs are southern rock but for the most part its country.
@Ohliv291 don't forget jamey johnson and hank 3!!!
@carrollkicker17 just cause someone has a "twang" does not make them country, its not how you sound, or what you look like, its the way you live, what you feel, and the fact or fictional stories that you can depict in your songs of real events youve been through, or have been around, some of yall need some keith whitley in your life, country from the 80's and 90's or some texas country, i appreciate originality and so many of todays artists lack that no matter what genre

just curious, where about is this backwoods you speak of?
dont forget dac!
Love this song, but that whole zoom in and out on the video kinda annoying lol.
@Hicktown125 Whenever you start arguing music, its pointless, everyone has their own tastes. I'd say its up tot he artist to decide what genre to put the music in.
This song reminds me of the song 'Murder On Music Row' by Strait & AJ back in the day...pretty much a middle finger to all the major labels in TN.
@Hicktown125 And all of youtube, now.
Hank sr. was around before rock therefore no it didnt originate from rock it came from bluegrase and folk and each heneration had a twist that went along.someway with a popular theme
now thats the stuff.
and rhett atkins and dallas davidson are good too.
Joco dippernc....Hank sr. +John Jester it hopefully will be on his upcoming album "Change: the lost EP" coming out next month!!!!
Country is better now than its ever been... artists like Eric Church, Brantley, FGL, Thomas Rhett... the guys who tell nashville to go to hell and stay out of their creativity in music making
@sarge958 because its only for fanclub members
no bud, this is Josh Thompson...
this is a damn good song
Rock is very similar to country in a lot of ways though, Pop is the complete opposite.

can you stop bragging about how country you are? beacuse if you have to brag about it, then you clearly arent..
