    Makes - 4
    Ingredients -
    2 tsp (10ml) - Olive Oil
    300g (10.58oz) - Beef Mince (Ground Beef), I Used 80% Lean
1 - White Onion, 1/2 Large Diced, 1/2 Small Diced (Small Diced Used For Garnish)
    2 - Garlic Cloves, Minced
    1 Tbsp (7g) - Ground Cumin
    1/2 tsp (1.5g) - Red Chilli Powder
    1 tsp (2.5g) - Smoked Paprika
    1 tsp (2.5g) - Mustard Powder
    2 1/2 tsp (15ml) - Apple Cider Vinegar
    1 tsp (6g) - Brown Sugar
    1 tsp (2g) - Ground All Spice
    2 Tbsp (30g) - Tomato Ketchup
2 tsp (15g) - Yellow Mustard (American Mustard)
    3/4 Cup (100g) - Concentrated Tomato Paste
    3/4 Cup (180ml) - Beef Stock
    Seasoning To Taste
4 - Cheese Kransky's or Sausage of Choice
4 - Hot Dog Rolls of Choice
Cheese of Choice (I Used American Cheddar)
2 - Dill Pickles, Diced For Garnish
    Flat Leaf Parsley (Optional)
    Notes -
Kranskies are derived from the Slovenian words "Kranjska Klobasa," which is the name for a pork sausage from Kranjska. They're made from pork, beef and garlic and in this case, cheese.
You can use any sausage you prefer but if you choose a raw product, it will need to be cooked prior to placing it in the bun. If so, pan fry, air fry or bake in the oven until cooked through and follow the recipe as per instructions. For the best flavour results, I highly recommend a cured and/or smoked sausage.
You can use whichever cheese you like. I opted for American cheddar to give it a little authenticity but mozzarella, Monterey Jack and regular cheddar cheese work perfectly well too.
This recipe can be made gluten-free ensuring you use GF-friendly sausages and buns.

A French version: Montbéliard sausage, in Chili: use substitutes: pink Breton onion, vinaigre de Xérès, Dijon moutard, smoked chilis moule, a few haricot Lingot (white beans), vin rouge or bourbon, ancient red tomato (lower water content) a splash of fish sauce - use fresh, home made sourdough rolls.

Jack, I see the improvements. The thumbnail, shows the end product with the text to go with it.
On the editing side, I noticed the differences. The flips of the screen when you were at the saucepan, the camera angles. All very engaging.
Working with other cooking channels, maybe this could help. What we do is "show and tell" in the intro. Let people see the end product in the beginning again. We keep the pacing up by removing some of the words from steps and instead adding them to the screen.
Your video is great, would love to see some retention techniques in there.

So I made this tonight. In hindsight, I should have drained the meat at some point because it was a bit oily with the 80% ground beef and olive oil. It was very good as a topping for hot dogs ( I don't love sausages). The chili had a mustardy taste which worked for its intended target (hot dogs) but on its own, I wouldn't want to eat a lot of this. I give it an 8 out of 10.
Nothing tops this man's Tuscan chicken! Thanks for adding all the measurements in standard format. Keep up the great work Chef!

Nice recipe for Chili Dogs. This could easily double as regular chili, adding bell peppers, diced tomatoes. I don't think the ketchup is really necessary since you used brown sugar and other ketchup ingredients. . At least you did not go over the top with though. Looked to me about a TBS. Not sure what you said in grams. My metric to OZ conversions are not the best, but getting better.

There are chili's in it. The real name is chili con Carne, which translates to chili with meat. We shorten it down to just chili. It was developed in the southwestern part of the United States, and some will argue Texas, specifically. Over time, different variants arose all through the United States, but the name stuck.

Hey Jack just wondering, would using extra virgin olive oil change the flavor of the chili too much? Just being a nerd and am curious haha

    • @ChefJackOvens
      @ChefJackOvens  Год назад +5

Extra virgin olive is a finishing oil and shouldn’t really be cooked with as it’s too pure. This means it has a lower smoke point and will become bitter as it cooks and burns. It also has a strong flavour that won’t ruin the flavour of the sauce but it can be overpowering as well as easily burning

It’s not plastic cheese, it’s actual American cheddar slices, not that individually wrapped plastic cheese you’re talking about. You can get it at Woolworths. Regular cheddar, mozzarella and Monterey Jack work well too

What the hell is wrong with anyone who puts tomato past in anything who doesn't cook it down for hours? If you can't taste the paste after 45 min, you have no business telling people how to cook! Just use tomato sause x2 and leave the lid off!
