Eastman are really showing up the big boys with awesome guitars, I love mine, if they close up shop and stop manufacturing they'll become highly sought after and collectable, remember when K.yairi were cheap and no one really knew what they were about 😊
This is the closest one in terms of sound I've seen to a J45. I was really disappointed tonally with the E6SS and the E10SS. This is way more what I'm looking for. Now, I just need to decide if a faded J45 is worth the extra $700 Great video!
I won't be guilted into not buying an Eastman guitar because it allegedly comes from a Chinese Factory where work conditions are said to be miserable. I would rather continue supporting employment that realizes a paycheck regularly. Watching my old favorites, like the Dove, go from $500 to $4,000 in fifty years doesn't make it a better guitar. Everything is built doomed by the intent to lower manufacturing costs for greater profit and I'd rather give $4,000 for a 1974 Dove than one fresh off of the assembly line. I like what I hear from this guitar and can't find such quality out of similarly priced Martins, Gibsons, Breedlove, or any other made-in-America guitar maker at this price point. Martins made in Mexico, Gibsons made in China; HPL on three sides, and a gig bag, not for me. Great demo!
I do have a J45 with an Adi top. My grail acoustic. But this is cool. It has a nice shimmer, to me. A very different sound, though. The mahogany Eastman you had for the slope shoulder dreadnought shootout had much more of that J45 boom.
For the $$$ these are some of the best guitars ever made. You should do a blindfold test with several Eastman, Martin, and similar makers to see if you can tell which is which.
Thank you for demo, but if your gonna play on top of the bridge, your killing the depth and sound quality of the guitar. I think people started doing this when you play with others to cut through the other instruments, but of course that isn’t necessary when playing alone. I actually have this guitar, but wouldn’t choose it based on these sound examples.
There is always a reason when something is too good to be true! Eastman guitars are made in Chinese factories under dreadful conditions for many very young workers, if you ever saw how they are treated you would never include an Eastman in your review again. Do your own research before buying an instrument because someone paid a price so you can get a bargain and if that doesn't make you feel awful playing it you need to question your humanity.
Is there anything at similarly affordable prices that doesn't bring in those moral issues? I can only think of Godin (makes S&P, Seagull, Art & Lutherie, Norman, etc). They aren't really going after that same vibe with their products that Eastman is. Also have you seen Eastman's factory specifically or are you generalizing Chinese factories? I ask because they have their own factory. The 2013 video I watched did lack safety and cleanliness in comparison to my work experiences as a Canadian. Likely a very different world that I'm ignorant to. I couldn't find what they are being paid, were you able to find a wage in your research? I can't imagine it's a great wage, but it would be interesting to see how it compares to the big Chinese factories. I don't think these moral issues of labour are easily sorted, as I type on a laptop that in society is more or less necessity, but probably was made in poor work conditions for low wages. I know at the time of purchase my Eastman Mandolin was the only thing that I could afford at the time of purchase that was going to be able to do what I needed for the bluegrass band I'm in. The F Style Mandolin market is not an easy one to buy into if you need a high quality instrument. I think that starting a thread of brands that are "doing things right" might make these kinds of comments more helpful. Comment if you can think of some good examples!
They’re made in a workshop by luthiers. Unlike say Gibson the people that work for Eastman can actually make an instrument from start to finish, by hand. Gibson is a factory as the labor is semi skilled: person A does binding, person b installs frets ect.
@@aperezdeal you don’t really believe that propaganda video that made the rounds a while back. NOTHING made in China is made with dignity. This is a ruthless, murderous dictatorship that killed millions with their third pandemic, made billions sick and costs us trillions and they never even apologized but instead were super arrogant and defiant which is a slap in anyone’s face that lost a loved one. Wake up and stop propping up murderers like this. If you can play your Eastman pretending this doesn’t affect you, you a miserable example of a human being…

I think the SS stands for Slope Shoulder....👍
Very nice demo and SS means slope shoulder and its 24.75 inches.

Great video!
I’ve got one coming on Thursday, really excited for the Adirondack/rosewood combo!
Really curious to hear how this guitar will sound in 50 years. Eastman got their own thing going and it's great.
It’s great enough that I own one

Have the E10SS,E20SS, AC122 CE,and the DT30D
I`m so in to the mahogony but after you play some Sheryl on it, damn it!
Good enough for fingerstyle playing ? I always play fingerstyle and tend to have a soft atack , so I need some highs.
The fretboard and bridge on this guitar is ebony, not rosewood.
Are You sure SS doesn’t stand for slope shoulder?
Sounds very good!
I have this guitar made in 2008 it’s awesome

Sweet
Does the SS stand for slope shoulder or short scale? Both maybe?
We take it to mean "short scale", but we also are considering "super sweet"!
It means slope shoulder 😂
Can’t tell if this guy is crazy, funny as hell, or on drugs. The guitar is amazing though.
He's just Canadian.
For sure he is on high ; b
This is an amazing sounding guitar. Full stop. Period. End of story.
Play this with a pick or your fingers in front of a microphone and it sounds like a record. If you don’t like records, we don’t like you.

Good point.I like playing over the sound hole and sometimes move my hand diagonally across the strings while picking notes from a chord.
It makes the attack to harsh.
What drugs are you smoking!
Nice guitar, save the comedy for the comedians
Neville Nicol Dude, save your pennies and buy a sense of humor ;)

Build in China and under terribly conditions for the workers. Two true reasons to stay away. Think twice.
