This is top-class jazz music on the saxophone, the princess and the king on stage together with the master on the Hammond B3 organ, and Also one of the greatest jazz drummers in the world! Groove lives very much Grace Kelly David Sandborn Byronn Landham and last Joey De Francesco I love you!
Its like you just walked into the club and the band is just blowing up a storm. the Organist Joey Francesco is wonderful and then there is the very adept and talented Grace Kelly !
I am with David Stein about Fred's totally inappropriate comment. You close your eyes and I don't think you can come up with another jazz organist who can even come close to Joey DeFrancesco both in skill and in soul. Regardless of whether he is black or white. Cut this crap out about skin color because Joey kicks ass, period. Let's call a spade a spade.
Fred it's just reverse racism crap. You don't have to be black to play with soul. I have played in integrated bands if you are human you have experienced the blues and a good player can swing no matter what the color of his/her skin. Your remarks are way off if you really believe what you said you must have gone to school with the late George Wallace. Get a life!
That white elephant playing the organ doesn't cut it. He tries to mimic black groove but can' deliver like black musicians can. He can't even sing black. Now that Korean gal is groovin.
Fred MyOpinion I don't think Joey would want you to take his singing abilities too seriously and if you think he doesn't cut the mustard, I'd suggest you say that to the likes of Pat Martino, he'd laugh in your face!!!..As for Grace Kelly groovin', well I've gotta tell ya and I've heard a lot of jazz, she doesn't rock my boat, whether a slow one to Korea or China!
I just don't 'get' Grace Kelly. Decent player, but there are dozens of other cats in Boston and NY -who are not cute females and are thus sadly completely unknown- who would dismantle her. She is NOT a player who could stop into a session at Small's and tear people down. I'm glad for her success, but for crying out loud why do her videos have more hits than all of Chris Potters'? Not to mention plenty of other simply outstanding unknown saxophonists on youtube (or the planet for that matter) who just go unrecognized. I hate to say it, but Grace is a gimmick and I'm glad she's cashing in on it, but she's not fooling the real players.
While what you're saying has some truth no doubt, my brother Eric Wyatt being one of the cats from Small's, Grace has an impressive resume. She was recording since 12 yrs old and has written charts for Boston Pops at 14 or 15. Try to look past the little Korean American Girl thing and recognize that she's put in a lot of work. She's worthy of the ink she's getting.
Disagree. Plenty of Berklee students have been capable of the same for ages yet they are largely minus the recognition due to them just being not as marketable. Wayne Escoffery was a perfect example, took him quite some time to get a steady gig and he's still not trading under his own name but he is undoubtedly one of the best out there. Patrick Cornelius is another great example, Jaleel Shaw, Jon Gordon is sort of 'there' but barely making it by Grace's International standards now, I could go on.
Selmerpilot she's very good indeed but not like Alex Hann or Dave Sanborn.. not in the same league.. If I could play like her I'd be happhy!!! but not on the same level.. still very good though..
Selmerpilot Grace is really an Organic Real Jazz artist - not a Blues player a la Dave Sanborn (who can adapt to many different styles) Check her out with Phil Woods, Jazz purist [RIP]
Grace killing it - riding the groove, laying down great blues phrases, building up pressure - all with a smile.

I heard this trio (no G.Kelly). The drummer was so good. The entire performance was astounding. Joey is a monster player.
What a bright light is Grace Kelly!!!

David Stein
He's one good soul caught up in one of the stereotypical sophistry and affectation - skunk's perfume.
organ player is GOD!
Hey, You're Getting Better. daffy cheap What's happening, guys. 11
Carlo Curley !
Man, Joey's gotta watch his health.... he's HUGE! :-/
Secondo voi questa suona?
Now... Joey Di Francesco would be simply a "nice" Organ B3 player??
As opposed to all the fake alto players?

One doesn't have to mimic, play or sound black to be good or play good music.
