Finally a video that doesn't use a bunch of fancy, complicated molds! I've had some learning to do with my micarta work. and have been looking for a better way. "I was thinking why not use some ziplock bags?" Then I came across this video! Thanks.
Your knife making skills came a long way. I would be proud to own one of your knives. You should also consider making a logo to stamp on your blades. Keep up the good work bro.
Dan, great work once again. You are kicking it mate. Now I gotta say two thumbs down clearly these idiots don’t deserve thumbs. You are doing it, inspiring us , teaching us keep it up brother
So glad you made a video on micarta, when you first made a knife with micarta I thought it was so sick but I had no idea what it was or how you did it. I'm fr so thankful you did a vid on it cause now I can go and make some myself. Keep up with the great content👍
Damn dude all the knives look so good. My favorite handle is the yellowish coloured one but my favorite blade is the last one you showed the bigger one 👌🏻👌🏻
Another decent place to get lots of cloth is if you have any old towels or sheets that you don't need, surprising amount of useable cloth out of those. I will advocate for paper micarta though, it works really well as well, just depends on the resin used. Also I'd recommend construction paper for that. EDIT: Also if it helps, unless you edited it really seamlessly you used one pump too much hardener on the faux ivory one. That also could have caused some discoloration.
Hey *DanMade* , I saw in your last Khanjar wrench vid that you tend to prefer to give your blades a very high mirrored polish: have you considered nitre bluing them? With a polish that high you can get really striking color finishes which also protect against corrosion. It's also a fairly easy process to do if you're attentive.
Have you thought about using vacuum or pressure chambers? I've seen videos showing how vacuum chambers can remove the bubble/voids and using a pressure chamber helps make the Micarta even harder.
With West System, the Slow Cure hardener will cure clear. How the resin cures, i.e., colored, is determined by the resin. I use a epoxy and polyester and get clear finishes, depending on the hardener for epoxy and the resin if polyester.
Nice Dan I'd love to see a micarta knife handle made out of like dark swamp wood with glow in the dark resin to make a somewhat skyrim-like fantasy. Idk i saw a vid of a ring maker that made a ring out of that and it looked fucking cool.
Not sure what your plans are, but it would be cool to see you try and make a folding knife. Could be an extra challenge (I have no clue though, I have no experience with knife making lol)
I did some DIY Micarta using Gorilla Glue Clear and canvas. It came out like a rubberized testure. I did a video on my channel. Ill admit I have no idea what Im doing it was just something for fun. Id be interested to know if anyone else has used Gorilla Glue Clear or to see someone who has a better know how do it. Great Video!
Hi love your videos something really cool and challenging you could make would be a sword you could move the fire bricks out of the way to heat different parts
Ddaaammnnn Daniel, you knife making skills have improved dramatically!! Why do they have those black pits in certain parts of the blade? Is that from like over-hammering? Or intentional?
Believe me that's not happening. I began wondering away from his channel after he just sold the hell out, he isn't the diwd we used to know and love. Money does some shitty things, and I hate to see him go.
is it possible to make a micarta with a premade hole for the full tang to fit in? I can't find a drill bit that is long enough to go through any handle material that i need for my current project. is it possible to just for example insert a piece of wood (covered with wax paper)which is about the thickness of the tang in the middle of the micarta material?
Hey bloke I loved your process to make the micarta and the cleaver red and black handles were fantastic but the other ones why not make the Handel comfortable
Hey Dan I work at East Texas flying service and I have a few plane/helicopter engine/transmission parts that are condemned so they will be trashed do you want then to try to make a knife out of any of it????
Why am I just finding out about this channel? Is there any others besides this one, DIWD, and HooliganPlayground? If you are hiding a gun channel from us, I will be upset.
The Micarta is the powerhouse of the cell....

I second this. It's like behind the scenes of forged in fire.
That patten came out nice! That what I love about micarta, you can make cool pattern handle scales without too much effort.
Thanks for sharing. Love that big chopper!
Dan, great work once again. You are kicking it mate. Now I gotta say two thumbs down clearly these idiots don’t deserve thumbs. You are doing it, inspiring us , teaching us keep it up brother
I was today years old when I found out that you had a knife / forging channel. Now I really want to get into it. As well as get my bike back running.
Haha oh dan we love you. Let this sit for a few hours... it’s been about 6 days Hahahaha. Glad to see you back!
That american handle was fucking sick. Keep up the good work dan. You've come a long way.
Finally videos i can watch full screen on note 8 thanks dan !!!

I'm not sure if it's possible but bullet casings or projectiles in the resin? That would be cool.
Checkout my channel I will be making a set with shell casings and bullets soon ruclips.net/video/v1GYVZ5hTJU/видео.html
Good to see another post from you keep up the great work!
I have tried so many times to get one of your knives and they sell so quick
Dan you’re really good at this! Keep it up man!! Also I agree you should make a small logo to put on your handles or stamp into the knife 🔪!!!
:patiently waiting:
Damn dude all the knives look so good. My favorite handle is the yellowish coloured one but my favorite blade is the last one you showed the bigger one 👌🏻👌🏻
Dude that mycarta stuff looks super dope. Man id love to use that material for some projects. Super dope idea.

Keep up the awesome workmanship there looking awesome mate
That's some sweet cutlery, I still want that rhino! That thing is bad ass

Your getting really good dan
Nice video man, it's inspired me to make my own micarta on my knives
Your knives look really good bro good job
West systems is "boat repair" resin. The darker colored fiberglass resin is polyester. Epoxy is typically stronger than polyester.
Have you thought about using vacuum or pressure chambers? I've seen videos showing how vacuum chambers can remove the bubble/voids and using a pressure chamber helps make the Micarta even harder.
When you’re dremmeling out those notches in the handles, do you follow any particular pattern or just put them wherever? They come out great!
Still loving the Hellsing abridged references :) to finish yours in this vid "Now put me on a plane so I can put them in a hearse!"
Damn dude, you’re getting really good at this!

Amazing job man!
Dude, I can’t even remember how I found you but I love your content man.
Mikke Mus probably through his motorcycle channel or the wrap channel that he helps run
Not sure what your plans are, but it would be cool to see you try and make a folding knife. Could be an extra challenge (I have no clue though, I have no experience with knife making lol)
Have you ever thought of leather work. Like making wallets and stuff like that? Just thought I would suggest and idea.
I’m so ready for this
Miss you Dan
You need some mold release film for composite making. If you know any airframe mechanics, I bet they would hook ya up.
I hope he's not getting burnt out on RUclips
total boat resin also does the 1 pump mix as well

How do you get ur knifes so sharp?
Been a long time since we’ve seen you post. Planing on making anything new?
You should make a symbol to put on all of your finished works. (A punch to be able to put on steel)
dan please bring this channel back sometime
Believe me that's not happening. I began wondering away from his channel after he just sold the hell out, he isn't the diwd we used to know and love. Money does some shitty things, and I hate to see him go.
I use a cinder block for a form that small.
Please bring the knives back

Hello, I love the video, I have to ask is there any benefits or drawbacks to the mircarta?
The one with sparkles might turn out better with a pearlescent additive
Hey bloke I loved your process to make the micarta and the cleaver red and black handles were fantastic but the other ones why not make the Handel comfortable
Nice man!
Hey Dan I work at East Texas flying service and I have a few plane/helicopter engine/transmission parts that are condemned so they will be trashed do you want then to try to make a knife out of any of it????
Where did this guy go? I just checked and last time he uploaded video was 3 years ago. Hope he is doing fine. He had a quality content.
Do it with Dan is his main channel if you want to continue to watch his content
Red white and blue micarta reminds me of Aquafresh toothpaste more than anything.
Would a mold help with making it thicker and get less air bubbles keep it from spreading out
Subbed 👍 awesome blades
If you do that alot it might be helpful to weigh the material and then the resin. Then you can duplicate it on later.
More knife shit Hell yeah
Hi what kind of oil you used on handle to be shiny
back in school I knew a kid named Mike Arta - maybe he invented this stuff
So basically a pewdiepie micarta handle
did you stop making knifes or just videos??
Sad there hasnt been any uploads in over a year
Dan do you think you could take a payment for making a knife Handel
What has that wing always been on the camaro?
Am I the only one who had OCD and kept thinking there was a puddle of water on his desk? Gah
Lol it's just old epoxy
sir its been over a year... we are waiting
could this be done with Florescent colored yarn
Dab Dome no reason it couldn't, it would take a fair bit of yarn though.
2020 plz make more knives videos
Nice
I like the black and red .....rhino be sick just white and grey gold dust messed wit it
We might make shit like we broke but work smarter not harder💀😂
You sell those?
Well that's some "Dandy" handle making..
You should do forged in fire the t.v. show
Do u sell these?
Why am I just finding out about this channel? Is there any others besides this one, DIWD, and HooliganPlayground? If you are hiding a gun channel from us, I will be upset.
