Transit agency presidents driving to work shows their own dislike of the freaking system they are supposed to manage and take pride in. It's obvious Carter does not.
That was the opening to the Bob Newhart show back in the 70's, sped up, with some Alan Fisher vibe music. He played a psychiatrist. And took transit to work every day LIKE A BOSS!
Maybe it's time to think about automated CTA trains. I think the only line that still has grade crossings is the Brown Line, so that may still need drivers, but everything else can run automated trains.
This hits hard, Carter needs to be fired for being such an inept leader for the CTA. Hopefully we in Chicago can get people who uses and understands transit instead of pastors who drive everywhere
Dorval Carter ruined what was once a great transit agency. Once known for being one of the most frequent transit systems in the US with trains running every 2 minutes during rush hour and every 5 minutes off peak, now has nearly as bad of frequency as LA. CTA is being beaten by MARTA in terms of frequency now, thanks to Dorval Carter’s incompetence
@@ThunderTheBlackShadowKittyThe CTA laid off a bunch of staff at the start of the pandemic and is now struggling to re-hire. There are many factors which slow down the ability of the CTA to onboard new workers, such as the small number of training classes for new train operators. Dorval Carter is not taking any steps to remedy this. Oh, and he doesn't even take the CTA to work. He drives.
@@shughes57 not to mention that he rarely, if ever, rides public transportation, preferring to be chauffeured to and from his job which he doesn’t do and city council meetings which he doesn’t even attend. Last year, he was supposed to attend a city council meeting to discuss the CTA budget, the problems CTA is facing and how to resolve them, etc. but he chose not to show up. Speaking of one of the problems CTA is facing is a train operator shortage, which he claims he fixed by saying that CTA hired 200 train operators, which was later revealed to be false. So he’s also dishonest
@shughes57 I stay off of Reddit Town for that reason. I should clarify, whenever family or friends use CTA they commonly have a bad experience but I've been seemingly blessed.
The reason why this footage is so old is because it's actually the last time he rode it
Starting to be slightly disconcerted that I see you in every urbanist discourse (GO MINNEAPOLIS!)
"Hey bro I'll be there soon, my CTA train arrives in minutes"
said no one

That's why I say , it should be illegal for them to own a vehicle . MAKE THEM USE THE SYSTEM THEY THINK IS GOOD ENOUGH !!
CTA needs a randy Clarke, we're blessed to have him at WMATA.
F@(K YOU DORVAL
If you're dumb enough to ruin a rapid transit system this weekend, you're a big enough schmuck to bungle the CTA
I like how you put the big bill hells music in!
Oh what the hell. I was hoping this was real. Pfft
DAMN IT ME TOO

Ayo trains?
Damn you got my hopes up 😢
As someone in the midst of moving to Chicago this bums me out man. I hope someone competent starts running the CTA.
Welcome to Chicago a City that used to have a great functioning public transportation system.
@@ejhickey well SEPTA isn’t much more functional for me and my SO can only hope
@@gekquad116 Hey, good luck to you & your SO. At least you know what awaits you .
@@ejhickeyHey at least you aren't forgotten about by literally everyone despite being a National Capital and your mayor is considering privatization
I was extremely hopeful this was a newsreel at first.
If Bob Newhart ran the CTA it would be fine.
Calling the complaint line would be lots of fun.
when I met him he was telling us about how when he was a kid he would ride the "green limosine" Pretty sure he hasnt ridden since then.
Great song choice

I'm not from the area so idk what the context is. What did he do and why is it so bad?

What the man who brought PSR to CTA is bad!? lol
Get a new president, and more funding please
Transit agencies and leadership that drives to work goes together like cars and bike lanes, unfortunately all too often
Whenever I use the CTA it works fine yet all I hear is people trashing it.
r/chicago is a cesspool of circlejerking reactionaries posting rage bait. That said, there are genuine issues with the CTA. Fire Dorval Carter.

Really? At least one leg of every trip I take has a significant issue.
Big sad
